What do you want for mothers day?

Whether an actual gift or the gift of peace and quiet lol
I'm not one for gifts. I'm happy with a bunch of flowers.
A friend of mine expects and would be quite arsey about not getting what she wants. Her dc are of an age where her dh has to buy. She's got a huge list.
I then think I'm boring for just enjoying a nice bunch of flowers or something along with a lie in

This year I have ordered a box of cupcakes as my friend makes them. But tbh it's mainly just for an after dinner treat for all of us.

Do you have any special requests or wishes

A lie in

Snozwanger · 10/03/2021 07:14

Special treatment or handmade cards from the kids would be nice but DH usually buys flowers and a card. I've told him this year to get me a plant for the garden - much more longer lasting.

stayathomer · 10/03/2021 07:21

PickAChew

Someone to remember.
Everyone forgot here last year. I'm not normally one for occasions but this year I'm hinting and pushing. Told everyone I expect a really nice card, a nice walk and a bun each, and for everyone to sit and watch my choice in the evening. Yes drama queen-ey but you don't ask ...Grin Plus I'll pick something they'll enjoy

Ps the dream would be to see my mum but obviously won't happen, goal for that is may

GlomOfNit · 10/03/2021 10:17

I've never really seen it as an occasion for actual presents (eg. things you can't eat or put in water!). See also, under Easter, Valentine's Day, etc ... But sometimes DH buys me a CD or a book he knows I want from the boys as well as some flowers and chocolates, which is lovely.

What I really want is for all of this to be over, to see my own mum (she's abroad and currently restricted from travelling home) and dad (probably won't see him until summer 2022) and for all my loved ones to get through this appalling time. Oh and cancel fucking Brexit. You can keep the flowers and chocs. Wink

Kithulu · 10/03/2021 11:08

Flowers - happy with a cheap bunch of daffs
Now my kids are older a home made cake would be my absolute best thing!
No card needed, they were only cute if handmade when children were young.

Pineappleheart · 10/03/2021 12:27

To spend the day with my daughter - just the two of us, drinking tea, eating cake and having a good old gossip.

Namechangedididittoo · 10/03/2021 12:30

To see my three children (actually now grown adults) who I haven’t seen for nine years due to them emigrating with their dad when they were children) and them turning against me. Even just to speak to them would be lovely

SpringisSpinning · 10/03/2021 12:30

afternoon tea, I am happy to make and also watch a film together....both dds go off to do their own things so I would like to do something together

leavingtime · 10/03/2021 12:50

A couple of bags of compost...seriously.
A small fruit tree.

Both things which would generate much growth and pleasure now and in the future. I love my garden. I don't like shifting heavy loads or putting trees in the car to bring them home.

thelonghaul · 10/03/2021 14:43

@Ocsetldil - yes!

Failing that, a card and someone else cooking etc. Of course, happy to be lavished with gifts/flowers too but I don't have a list. The gift is in the giving.

LovelyIssues · 10/03/2021 17:20

My kids to not argue for a day and no housework

alexio · 10/03/2021 19:42

I'd love a lie in, peace and quiet to read my book and dinner planned and made without asking for my input.

38 weeks pregnant and have a 12 month old and DH is working on Sunday so none of that for me haha

Hopeandglory · 10/03/2021 20:03

i would like to have dinner with DD (who is a critical care nurse) and her hubby and my GD, accept that we will celebrate in a few weeks even though they live up the road!!

DialsMavis · 10/03/2021 20:07

Breakfast in bed, a homemade card from DD and a bought card from DS, bunch of daffs.

Dentistlakes · 10/03/2021 20:09

A nice cup of coffee in bed and some peace. Perhaps a nice walk on the beach and an ice cream!

BaconAndAvocado · 10/03/2021 20:27

Smoked salmon and cream cheese bagel breakfast in bed, various chocolate-themed gifts, not to lift a finger all day and a roast lamb dinner with a glass of bubbles.
God, I can't bloody wait 😀

MrsFlump · 10/03/2021 20:29

A home made card (they are the best) and not having to cook dinner. Won't get the second one as I cook everything but as schools have just gone back and they always do a card, I may be in luck with that which I always treasure .

YesPleaseMary · 10/03/2021 20:33

I would like my own children to not argue, scream or cry for a whole day.
I would also like to not have to think about what to eat, or cook it, or wash up.
Most of all I want to see my mum, who I haven’t seen since November 2019, to give her the biggest hug ever.

mineofuselessinformation · 10/03/2021 20:35

My adults dcs to both be with me at home, and to have my meals prepared for me - it would be sheer bliss to have their company, and to be a bit pampered.
Sadly it won't happen.

flappityflippers1 · 10/03/2021 20:44

I don’t have a list, I’m happy with cuddles and DH cooking a nice Sunday roast
(He does a cracking roast!)

He has got me a gift from him and DS - it’s a small greenhouse, some soil and pots and vegetable seeds. We’ll spend the day planting (neither of us have a clue with garden stuff but it’ll be fun!)

Our second is being born on the 20th by section, so the idea is caring for the plants etc is something to keep DS entertained while I’m in bed recovering. (DS is obsessed with vegetables and gardening atm)

BBCdramaaddict · 11/03/2021 09:40

I want loads but nothing that costs much. I want a bunch of flowers, (daffs from the garage are fine) cards made by my kids, a thought out breakfast made by my husband and kids whilst I have a lie in, time for a bath, a handmade gift that the kids have made at school And are really proud of, that I’ll
Keep forever (or until It disintegrates or goes mouldy) and maybe a nice home cooked roast. Is that too much?
