What do you want for mothers day?

Whether an actual gift or the gift of peace and quiet lol
I'm not one for gifts. I'm happy with a bunch of flowers.
A friend of mine expects and would be quite arsey about not getting what she wants. Her dc are of an age where her dh has to buy. She's got a huge list.
I then think I'm boring for just enjoying a nice bunch of flowers or something along with a lie in

This year I have ordered a box of cupcakes as my friend makes them. But tbh it's mainly just for an after dinner treat for all of us.

Do you have any special requests or wishes

A full undisturbed nights sleep.

whatswithtodaytoday · 08/03/2021 06:49

Just flowers, a £1 bunch of daffs would be fine.

I would also love the house to myself, but I'm greedy and want a full day, so I'll wait until there's actually somewhere for them to go for a full day.

Also what @Ocsetldil said please.

blowinahoolie · 08/03/2021 06:52

Same as ShoppingBasket. House on my own would be wonderful.

Not to cook, break up fights or negotiate with a child about doing something completely reasonable.

I’d also really like to see my mum, but that’s not happening yet. (She’s 250 miles away).

bellagogosdead · 08/03/2021 06:53

A card will do me.

BorisandHarriet · 08/03/2021 06:55

Exactly the same as @Landlubber2019. Homemade cards, people being nice to each other for one day, some daffodils. If someone made a cake then that’s a bonus too.

MinnieMountain · 08/03/2021 06:55

My mum back Sad I don’t normally get emotional on here but it’s my first one since the died suddenly in October.

I struggled to think of something this year - usually we have a day out at a nice garden or something. And a card/chocs/flowers.

Obviously going out not an option this year, so I've asked for a nice takeaway (not chips) so we're having take away roast dinner.

megletsecond · 08/03/2021 06:59

A cup of tea and someone else to do the dishwasher.
I won't get it.

DinosaurDiana · 08/03/2021 07:00

A one bedroom Cottage all to myself 😉

BikeRunSki · 08/03/2021 07:01

I’m so sorry @MinnieMountain. I hope the day passes easily for you x

Our local chemist stocks Neom, Voya and L'occitane all of which I like. Last week I was feeling tired with wfh and the kids being around all the time. Dh asked if there was anything he could do to help. I said no, not really but that it was Mother's Day shortly and that I would appreciate a bit of a fuss and that anything in that chemist would be welcome as a treat. He also suggested ordering food from a pub we like so that would be lovely.

user1493413286 · 08/03/2021 07:03

Some kind of mummy mug, photo frame, key ring etc. My kids are only young so I don’t have much like that and I’ve always helped DSD get Father’s Day presents so he’s had lots of thoughtful daddy gifts and I’m feeling a bit jealous. Doesn’t have to cost any more than £10 and would be happy if it was something home made by DC

Arrierttyclock · 08/03/2021 07:05

I've ordered my mym and little sister (11) a lobster from fish for thought. We did a similar thing a few weeks back with DHs family and it was lovely. We all get a lobster delivered then eat jt over zoom. She's never had it before so will be so excited. Not the same as a meal out but the closet we can do!

moanieleminx · 08/03/2021 07:08

Last year my kids asked me what I would like.

I asked for a lie in.

My eldest panicked, ran over to DH and whispered in his ear 'have we bought her a lion?'

In all honesty, sleep is the most valuable commodity in our house. A cup of tea, a bunch of daffs and a home made card followed by a family walk. That is everything I want.

PurBal · 08/03/2021 07:09

To go to church. Can't though, ours is closed due to lockdown. :(

MrsDThomas · 08/03/2021 07:10

Nothing. Its not a day we celebrate.
Id rather an impromptu bunch of flowers which mean something than dictated to by a date.

mummywantstobeslim · 08/03/2021 07:10

I don't care if I get a gift or not. Wouldn't turn down an amazon gift card though Grin

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 08/03/2021 07:13

A bacon sandwich
A caramel coffee
Flowers
Card
The morning to myself to watch real housewives!!! Pleaseeeee

Me too. Mum died 31st March last year, the chocolates I bought her were never opened.

I just want to be able to hug my DD, as pp said, Skype and Zoom are very poor substitutes.

LadyBugg · 08/03/2021 07:13

I'd like a proper lie in where dh gets up before the kids and interceps them before before they get to me. And also a really big cinnamon bun and possibly a plant.

TeenMinusTests · 08/03/2021 07:18

A card and some consideration (e.g. being offered cups of tea.)

I have to take my DD to therapy that day, so some nice sunny weather would be nice for the drive as it is an hour each way.

Blankiefan · 08/03/2021 07:18

I've suggested to DH that DD could get me new wellies (he'll be buying!). I use them when out with her in the woods so feels appropriate. My current ones have a hole in them- one soggy foot is rubbish.

I'd imagine there will also be flowers and chocolates and a day of me putting my feet up. We have Covid currently so will still be self isolating by the weekend so no visiting granny this year. 😪

BigTastyMmmmmm · 08/03/2021 07:24

I would like to to go to my mums and stay the evening and night there with her and leave my family behind to fend for themselves tbh (teens). My mum would make a fuss, a lovely meal for the two of us, champagne etc and she would love it seeing my on my own and have me all to herself. And I would get a break.
