The latest royal family drama

It's like a TV show. How embarrassing!

www.thetimes.co.uk/article/royal-aides-reveal-meghan-bullying-claim-before-oprah-interview-7sxfvd2c3

The latest is that Meghan is accused of bullying staff. Harry and Meghan then responded that Buckingham Palace was using the Times to peddle false stories/a smear campaign. So presumably the "leak" comes from Buckingham Palace/the Queen.

It's all so childish. Why can't they all just be grateful for the extremely cushy life that they have!

I'll be watching the Oprah interview. I think the royals never come across well in these kind of things. Like Andrew's awful interview...he's just so out of touch with reality. And I think that's a characteristic that Harry unfortunately shares with him.

How right the RF are to investigate this appalling behaviour, and to do so immediately. We are well rid

Let's hope they look at the bullying culture within the Palace over decades too. Someone put countless links on a thread of other occasions by other members of the RF.
Of course this should be investigated, but by an independent body not by the RF itself

ginghamstarfish · 04/03/2021 10:26

They are a very tiresome pair. Hard to ignore when they're publicising THEMSELVES all over the place. If they had an ounce of class they would just sod off and live privately, and repay the vast amount of taxpayer cash spent on their wedding, seeing as that was meant for royals who do their royal duties, such as they are. It's all so tacky and moneygrabbing.

TheKeatingFive · 04/03/2021 10:27

I wonder how they’ll justify not investigating it at the time?

@Roussette

I don't click on DM links. They have an obvious agenda given they are in hock for £450,000 in damages to be paid to MM for a previous article.. They will say anything to get at her for clickbail for their rag.
Well you should. It might open your eyes. One should consider all the evidence at one’s disposal.

In any case millions of readers are being put in the picture. That’s the point.

HeadNorth · 04/03/2021 10:28

@Mummy195

However.....ENOUGH, IS ENOUGH of this woman disrespecting the longest, most respected monarch

The queen is not exactly holding a vigil next to her husband now is she.

I don't think the queen has even visited PP - yet other members of the family have been able to. Hmmm - doesn't seem like she will be exactly throwing herself on the funeral pyre, put it that way.
hopeishere · 04/03/2021 10:28

Part of the problem is the pandemic prevented them "launching" themselves in America last year so they now need a massive bang to do that. And the Oprah interview is that.

I don't think they care about their reception in the UK any more.

Roussette · 04/03/2021 10:29

This is not the way people were treated even in the Victorian era. Disgusting.

I presume that is tongue in cheek. In the victorian era palace staff were servants, seen and not heard, they were the lowest of the low. I doubt any members of the RF even looked in the direction of the servants.

God yes. It really is trashy. I don’t imagine Prince William will ever be reconciled with the angry, envious, unimportant little brother.

What, the Daily Mail? Who have an axe to grind?. And who have continually harangued Meghan Markle in any way possible. No thanks, just have a read of some of the comments below these articles. Bigots and racists.

TheCatWithTheFluffyTail · 04/03/2021 10:31

@redspecial

I think many of the royal family are and historically have been bullies towards their staff why do you think that? the RF and aristocracy grow up with staff and know how to treat them, many are treated like family members and are rewarded for their hard work and discretion. Many are proud to be a part of it and to have the kudos on their CV (the pay is relatively crap, apparently). Its newly minted people who haven't grown up with staff that are less likely to know how to treat them.

the earrings thing was pathetic but there's no way the Times would print anything blatantly untrue about the litigious duchess right now. And H&M's lawyers didn't deny it, they said it was 'defamatory' which is something else entirely.

has anyone else read the tale about the Australia tour? its on Quora for anyone interested. there is just too much of this stuff about over the last few years for none of it to be at least partly true. The press were good to H&M at first, but they have a funny way of presenting a vibe of someone even when they've been asked to suppress things (maybe in return for interviews or photo ops). if buck house is no longer interested in suppressing anything the bullying story could just be for openers.

Because historically if you displeased the royal family you would have your head chopped off. That’s why I used the word historically but in the more recent past, Andrew has also been pointed out before on this thread as speaking to aides in a bullying manner.
Janegrey333 · 04/03/2021 10:31

Anyone who condones their abhorrent behaviour is complicit in excusing bullying. But do carry on. The evidence against this pair is stacking up and can no longer be explained away.

TheKeatingFive · 04/03/2021 10:32

Posting this again. Seeing as we’re in the business of ‘opening eyes’

Well considering he is the grandson of a current ( elderly) monarch and the son and brother of two future monarchs he should care what the uk thinks of him because he will have no choice but to come back and face them at times in the not to distant future! However i dont think Meghan will set foot in this country ever again.
TheKeatingFive · 04/03/2021 10:32

Anyone who condones their abhorrent behaviour is complicit in excusing bullying.

Then the palace also ‘condoned’ it fit not investigating at the time.

peepholepringle · 04/03/2021 10:33

@Mummy195 They cannot sue when the paper did their part by asking the palace and they come back with no comment.

So all the lies that have been printed cannot be challenged in court.

That's really not how it works.

Stratfordplace · 04/03/2021 10:33

Maybe if PP has an infection HM has been advised that she cannot visit.

ShallowCoastalWaters · 04/03/2021 10:33

This thread actually demonstrates exactly why the privileged and powerful manage to retain their positions for so long

For some reason there is a whole raft of 'fans' who regardless of the evidence in front of their eyes refuse believe they are capable of wrong and will defend them to the hilt. I don't understand it. What do you get out of it?

Take the blinkers off.

This is exactly why so many privileged and powerful people get away with such atrocious and abusive behaviour for so long.

TheCatWithTheFluffyTail · 04/03/2021 10:33

You can try to sue, but you will most likely not win.

The papers were corrected on the issues, and wrote a small little correction somewhere on pg10

You are talking about the past. I am saying just because when previous comments about Meghan bullying were reacted to with a “no comment” response it does not mean they cannot now sue. Of course they can. The past is irrelevant.

Roussette · 04/03/2021 10:34

If Jgrey you are referring to me, I am not condoning it. Read my post at 10.26 and stop twisting things like the DMail does

Janegrey333 · 04/03/2021 10:34

Even thinking about them is enough to make a normal person feel distinctly queasy.

I hope it is all fully investigated and any bullying, by anyone, in the Palace ends now.

The £450,000 is legal costs. There will be ‘notional’ damages, apparently.

I completely agree with you about the Daily Mail but I’m as keen as you are that we don’t spread falsehoods.

Roussette · 04/03/2021 10:35

Take the blinkers off

My blinkers are well and truly off. Bullying within BP has been rife for decades.
Not acceptable at all.

Roussette · 04/03/2021 10:36

Hedda Thank you, yes I stand corrected. That's good. Smile

EvelynBeatrice · 04/03/2021 10:36

I’m afraid that I view these ‘leaks’ as the politics of the gutter and extremely damaging to the status and credibility of the royal family. I’m not particularly interested in their veracity. That should have been dealt with internally and privately in line with with employment law and human decency. I’m not interested in an institution that conducts itself like an entrant in the Jeremy Kyle show. Either maintain royal dignity and silence and stay a publicly funded useful venerable institution or lose your current status and funding and become ordinary if famous citizens free to retaliate in the press for any perceived slight.
