The latest royal family drama

It's like a TV show. How embarrassing!

www.thetimes.co.uk/article/royal-aides-reveal-meghan-bullying-claim-before-oprah-interview-7sxfvd2c3

The latest is that Meghan is accused of bullying staff. Harry and Meghan then responded that Buckingham Palace was using the Times to peddle false stories/a smear campaign. So presumably the "leak" comes from Buckingham Palace/the Queen.

It's all so childish. Why can't they all just be grateful for the extremely cushy life that they have!

I'll be watching the Oprah interview. I think the royals never come across well in these kind of things. Like Andrew's awful interview...he's just so out of touch with reality. And I think that's a characteristic that Harry unfortunately shares with him.

Even thinking about them is enough to make a normal person feel distinctly queasy

Gosh. There are lots of abnormal people on here then! Maybe you need to take a break from reading about them if you get such an adverse reaction.

And there are ways, meditation for instance, which will allow the brain to swerve away from subjects that distress you.

TheCatWithTheFluffyTail · 04/03/2021 10:38

I don't think the queen has even visited PP - yet other members of the family have been able to. Hmmm - doesn't seem like she will be exactly throwing herself on the funeral pyre, put it that way.

One visitor, that the public is aware of. The Queen does not typically visit in hospital and the potential covid repercussions wouldn’t make it possible right now. Very presumptive to assume the Queen will not be upset if/when her husband of almost 75 years dies.

The queen should send them both to the tower for treason.
Heads will roll 🤣

@HeddaGarbled

*Roussette I don't click on DM links. They have an obvious agenda given they are in hock for £450,000 in damages to be paid to MM for a previous article.. They will say anything to get at her for clickbail for their rag*

The £450,000 is legal costs. There will be ‘notional’ damages, apparently.

I completely agree with you about the Daily Mail but I’m as keen as you are that we don’t spread falsehoods.

Finding Freedom (which to mention again, a judge said Meghan cooperated with) was pretty much the Daily Mail in a book.

What does that mean? The article is one year old. To me, it is even more relevant than when it was written last January.

Lineofconcepcion · 04/03/2021 10:48

Why hasn't she denied the bullying claims?

It means this thread is about (and titled) about the latest royal family drama. It’s about H&M being accused of bullying and their upcoming interview. If you like, it’s about March 2021. Does that help with what I mean?
TheCatWithTheFluffyTail · 04/03/2021 10:49

@Lineofconcepcion

Why hasn't she denied the bullying claims?
The obvious assumption is because they are true.
SunbathingDragon · 04/03/2021 10:55

Backlash has begun. One Young World, which is a youth-focused global forum that Meghan has been involved with since before her marriage:

Meghan and Prince Harry have been criticised by Kate Robertson, the founder of One Young World, ahead of their interview with Oprah. Ms Robertson wrote on Twitter: "Not having any of it. The Queen is the world’s most stunning example of duty and service.

^"The Sussex’s have grievances but should sort out in person privately.

"Hurting The Queen in public is really low."

Because historically if you displeased the royal family you would have your head chopped off. That’s why I used the word historically nobody is chopping anyone's head off, calm down.

the RF won't comment, but ex staff certainly can. Are they all liars too? astonishing.

Lets see how far this interview gets them. I think they're behaving like a pair of spoilt brats, and not a bit of this matches the caring global humanitarian schtick they're trying to present. I also think Oprah is a very clever woman and the more incendiary the interview the better, she'll make a pile of money. What does she or M care if H is completely estranged from his family and country for it. M has already shown us how she treats family.

Andrew has always been a twat, every family has at least one. what surprises me is that everyone is so surprised about him.

Roussette · 04/03/2021 10:58

So we can only talk about March 2021 stuff? This thread is full of posts about the past, because it puts things into context, so that is a bit silly.

Even you have engaged in conversations about things in the past and previous Queens, if I remember correctly.

Yet a very relevant article from a year ago about how the media reports on H&M is not the thing to post...

Meredithgrey1 · 04/03/2021 10:58

@kirinm

Did the palace deny the rumours about Prince William shagging Kate's mate? Pretty sure they didn't. IF we are using the denial / no comment to analyse what is and isn't true, seems that William is a bit of a dick.

No, the reason they don't comment is because there is a royal protocol not to. The fact they've issued the statement they did in respect of these allegations breaks the protocol which either suggests it is a. true or / and b. done deliberately due to the Oprah interview.

I still find it hard to believe the Oprah interview is going to be explosive. I just can't see Harry allowing it but who knows. I mean, it'll be the end of any relationship they have with the family if it is.

A lot of the other stories (William’s affair being an example) are personal though. The bullying is a story that they’re responding to as an employer (an employer who was getting some stick for not dealing with this properly). Obviously there have been other less personal, more employer-type stories in the past that they haven’t commented on, but I think they’ve always stuck to not commenting on personal stories haven’t they? (I could be wrong and could have missed a response to a story)
SuperSimple · 04/03/2021 10:58

H & M come across as narcissists.

pinpong · 04/03/2021 11:01

They are trying to earn money on their own terms but when you take away the RF ties and titles, they don't offer much value in a country where everything is about entertainment. The viewers will bore off soon as they keep circling around on the same subjects. They can only offer interviews about the controversial stuff no one talks about from the firm which discredits the Rf, maybe a book and maybe a little TV programme on their home life. Of course the Netflix deal and Spotify but that's it.

I doubt she will be an actress again, Harry's no comedian or maybe politics? but at the same time they need to fund their security and extravagant outgoings as they are high profile. I think they've put themselves on the spot. If it was me, at 37 I would have known what I've signed up for and if I chose to step down, I would have stayed in frogmore cottage and flew back and forth to the US and Canada and stayed low profile (not worked as a member of the RF) and not give anything to the press to talk about. The more you leave the press alone, the less they will harass you.

I am calm. Why wouldn’t I be?

Oprah isn’t their friend. She met them once before the wedding and just wants the publicity this will bring her. It’s a working relationship they have, at best. It’s not a friendship.

I’m surprised people are surprised by Andrew as well. I believe a large part is just because so many have been so insistent on defending H&M for so long that they are running out of excuses and that’s why he constantly gets discussed to try to deflect.

Not as relevance with regards to what it was posted in response to.
SunbathingDragon · 04/03/2021 11:07

Of course the Netflix deal and Spotify but that's it.

If they keep those deals. One charity (mentioned above) has now distanced themselves from H&M and usually that means more will follow.

The deals will be dropped if the tide turns against them in America.

@Nnovember

I dont understand for the life of me how Andrew hasn't been stripped of his titles!! Or disowned. Yet Harry and Megan get a bashing everyday in the media. Its like they want us to look this way instead of focusing on Andrew and his filthy behaviour. I cant wait until we no longer have a monarchy.
.
TheKeatingFive · 04/03/2021 11:10

That should have been dealt with internally and privately in line with with employment law and human decency.

Absolutely this

Lampzade · 04/03/2021 11:10

I am beginning to believe that some people on this thread are part of the Firm
They seem overly invested

Roussette · 04/03/2021 11:12

Sorry TheCat I'm totally lost here. It's a good article and well worth a read. That's it for me.

kirinm Exactly!

I’m surprised people are surprised by Andrew as well

I am not the slightest bit surprised by Andrew. Not at all. There were rumours about how he treated staff, the disdain for ordinary people, his behaviour in the armed forces, he was really not popular (understatement) the lot. Nothing about Andrew surprises me at all. He was just lucky that social media wasn't such a thing when he was younger.
