It's like a TV show. How embarrassing!

www.thetimes.co.uk/article/royal-aides-reveal-meghan-bullying-claim-before-oprah-interview-7sxfvd2c3

The latest is that Meghan is accused of bullying staff. Harry and Meghan then responded that Buckingham Palace was using the Times to peddle false stories/a smear campaign. So presumably the "leak" comes from Buckingham Palace/the Queen.

It's all so childish. Why can't they all just be grateful for the extremely cushy life that they have!

I'll be watching the Oprah interview. I think the royals never come across well in these kind of things. Like Andrew's awful interview...he's just so out of touch with reality. And I think that's a characteristic that Harry unfortunately shares with him.

@PieInTheSky71

I hope they do say lots on Oprah. Harry stripped of his titles. Prince Andrew keeps his and he's protected by the monarchy while Harry is sold down the river. I know who I'd choose to back.
Harry sold himself down the river. I’d be very happy not to hear anything about Harry or Andrew ever again.
Roussette · 03/03/2021 14:21

It's just the contrast that's all. You post about how awful it is that Harry went to the loo in the mansion as he was just japing around and it is not serious enough etc. Maybe so. But it pales into insignificance with 'the other one' and his bestie Jeffrey, and who still keeps his titles
That's all

TheKeatingFive · 03/03/2021 14:24

Exactly. The amount of outraged threads started on the back of H&M’s actions far exceeds the number about PA.

@PretendSpeedGun

There seems to be this weird assumption that anyone who criticises Harry and Meghan is endorsing Prince Andrew

I would like to see Andrew in prison. It does not mean that I can't criticise the actions of his nephew.

It does seem to mean exactly that on MN! 🤷🏻‍♀️
Roussette · 03/03/2021 14:33

Posters can criticise who they want on MN. As long as it doesn't break Talk Guidelines, you have freedom to do just that.

It's just that when it touches, for me, anything that other members of the RF have done - but worse - it is really hard not to reference that. Because of being fair. Because why should they be taken to the cleaners about something when whoever did far worse and got away with it, and it got little attention on MN or the press. Or if it did, it died down in a week.

I irritate myself sometimes you know so I'm just a boil on the bum for a lot of you, I know that! 😂

candycrushsaga · 03/03/2021 14:38

Tbh I really don't care about them or anyone from the rf. They are all pampered living luxurious lives and then complaining about how hard they got it. I was bullied at work but I had to go to work to pay for my bills and food until I found a new job. I have friends who have gone through worse with their in laws. This year has been particularly hard for everyone losing loved ones, having long term covid effects and losing jobs. Today we are finding out that we will be taking on the covid bill and start coughing up more with tax increase. I don't give a shit about Harry and Meghan nor the firm. I don't want to listen to any of them talking about being bullied, silenced, request for privacy.

lllllllllll · 03/03/2021 14:39

I clicked on the article thinking it would be another one of those “a source said” type stories (in other words, rubbish). But if I read it right, it appears The Times have quoted from an actual email sent be Jason Knauf in which he makes these allegations. Woah.

lllllllllll · 03/03/2021 14:40

I hope it’s not true as I like Harry and have always admired Meghan.

PretendSpeedGun · 03/03/2021 14:45

I think there is much more discussion on Harry and Meghan as it is not as clear cut. They are irritating as opposed to being completely and utterly offensive.

There is little point in starting discussions about Prince Andrew (a) because I can't see anyone really arguing the opposite side and (b) there is nothing new to discuss at the moment.

Where as with H&M there is something new to discuss nearly everyday of the week. I am sure if they had stayed in Canada and out of sight we would have long stopped talking about them as well.

isitspringyet · 03/03/2021 14:46

Amen candycrush 100% agree... if they want to go ahead and launch their private/ not private lives then I wish they’d just get on with it and not hear about them..

buzzybeesliveintrees · 03/03/2021 14:51

Another time there was a row about whether Meghan had been told that the media would be present at an event. When she rang the aide, they rang back but she did not pick up. “I feel terrified,” the source said. “I can’t stop shaking.”

Another source said: “There were a lot of broken people. Young women were broken by their behaviour.” The source described one member of staff as “completely destroyed”.

Even before the wedding, staff were feeling the strain. One told a colleague the couple were “outrageous bullies” and said they were considering resigning. The colleague replied: “That’s so dreadful. And they are bullies.”

The harsh treatment was not confined to junior staff. One source claimed that Samantha Cohen, the couple’s private secretary, had been bullied. Another said: “They treated her terribly. Nothing was ever good enough. It was, ‘She doesn’t understand, she’s failing.’” In fact, the source said, Cohen was “a saint” and the best organiser of royal tours they had known.

This is really dreadful. And I've a suspicion there's worse to come.

But it isn’t either/or is it?

I don’t think Harry or Meghan are particularly bright. They’re starting a fight that they cannot possibly win.

Presumably Harry doesn't receive any money from UK tax payers, so I don't understand why anyone cares so much

All the time they're being subbed by Charles who consistently dreams up creative ways to minimise his tax bill (including off-setting said subbing as a business expense) and maximise the expenses he can lay at the tax payer's door we are paying for them albeit indirectly.

Mummyoflittledragon · 03/03/2021 15:06

This has just popped up on my phone. No idea if it is a reliable news source. Not something I read...

Doesn’t look like a reliable news source to me.

*TheKeatingFive

I’m still not over W&K taking a helicopter trip to visit a melting glacier to alert us to climate change!!!*

The helicopter ride was within the country, not from the UK.

Also, the British media kept their greedy little mouths shut about the fact that Kate took a luxury private jet to Ireland. All after she and William lectured us on "Mending the Earth".

A statement was sent out ages ago, they pay their own way???

Interesting video here. I would take whatever offering today with a pinch of salt.

*real reasons people don’t like her, such as:

  1. She lectures about inequality and poverty after choosing to join a hereditary Royal Family
  2. She lectures about feminism after giving up her job and life to marry into royalty and take a title courtesy of her husband which she still uses.
  3. She lectures about the environment while flying around on private jets.

Essentially she wants to tell other people what to do, while doing the precise opposite herself.

Kate has done these things too, but she doesn’t hypocritically lecture people about them *

These simply cannot be the reasons at all :

  1. She was already a millionaire by the time she joined the RF, and was already talking and helping the poor. Spokeperson for UN etc. Also a lot of rich ppl help and talk about poverty, like all the time.
  1. Feminists get married all the time and may take up the husband's name - which judging by the media, she has not insisted on since she is still called MM. Why on earth would she not take the tile, has nothing to do with feminism.

3.K&W were not hated after lecturing Africans for over breeding, while K was pregnant with 3rd child. Nor were they hated for lecturing on Mending earth, then jumping on a private jet.

Try again.

VinylDetective · 03/03/2021 15:24

They don’t. The Prince of Wales pays them an allowance.

CathyorClaire · 03/03/2021 15:25

Can you provide a link please?

How does that tie in with the reports this month that Charles who was previously paying office expenses for them is to withdraw that support by the end of next month?

CathyorClaire · 03/03/2021 15:27

some office expenses

Roussette · 03/03/2021 15:27

So are you saying Vinyl they don't earn anything? They do not rely on PC.

Harry was wealthy in his own right, as was Meghan. Harry due to his Mother, and Meghan due to working.
Charles may well pay them something from his Duchy income, who knows.
But given they pay their own security, they paid for the refurbishment on Frogmore Cottage, they get nothing from the taxpayer, and I doubt we will ever know if PC gives them a vast amount or a little amount.
