Just head that Prince Charles has been to visit him in hospital due to ‘exceptional circumstances’. He’s never visited him in hospital before and apparently left looking emotional. It doesn’t look good does it? I wonder how this will play out given the pandemic?

@Bluntness100 I'm perfectly calm. You said his comments made him a national treasure. When so many of them are of that nature you can't separate them I'm afraid.

BananaPop2020 · 20/02/2021 19:55

@VladmirsPoutine why don’t you read my post again? I don’t ‘blame’ anyone, I question the timing of events this week.

And the Meghan bashers come crawling out of the woodwork...

DobbyTheHouseElk · 20/02/2021 19:56

I only saw one BBC photo, but I didn’t think PC had teary eyes. Looked sad, but that could be anything. He hasn’t seen his father for a while. Disgraceful that the paps were hiding behind the bins.

Unbelievable this thread is... Hmm

Prince Philip is ill, and we don' know if he may die soon, and some people are being so nasty.

It's going to be horrible when he dies, because some people are so cruel and unkind.

I wish mumsnet would delete this thread.

I’m sure the ongoing news reports about the Duke of York and also Ghislaine Maxwell’s efforts to be released from prison are also a concern within the RF and his parents must be living in dread of more revelations. That must be very difficult for them to live with.

MrsMackesy · 20/02/2021 20:00

Not sure where riceutin gets her facts from about Philip's health.

itsgettingwierd · 20/02/2021 20:00

@tigger1001

"am surprised Kay Burley hasn't turned up."

Is she not still suspended?

I think they said 6 months at the time - so yes maybe?
BananaPop2020 · 20/02/2021 20:00

It is astonishing how many people on here selectively interpret people’s posts, and are just desperate to twist the debate in the direction they want.

Hedwigtheowl · 20/02/2021 20:00

So sad to hear this. I hope he pulls through.

@littlepattilou I don't think just because it may be a little insensitive, that the thread should be deleted. Fuck if all threads that caused a minor amount of people to be uncomfortable were deleted MN would be full of tumbleweed

RightMoveAlong · 20/02/2021 20:02

Instead of speculating, read the Covid guidance on the hospital website.

It says that visitors and chaperone may be permitted in certain circumstances. It's a private, small hospital with far greater anti-Covid measures than a 1000 bed NS hospital.

My guess is that the sadness (if any) In Prince Charles' eyes is that he had to say sorry to his father for the awful mess Harry has flung the RF into. The content of the announcements from across the pond are terrible considering the D of E is ill.

MrsMackesy · 20/02/2021 20:05

paps hiding behind the bins
They aren't. They are openly on the street outside the gateway with telephoto lenses and video cameras

MouthAche · 20/02/2021 20:06

Charles looked sad

I think its depressing that they cant be given some privacy , Royal family or not

What William and Harry had to go through at Diana’s funeral, was awful!
Completely unacceptable for two children who didn't ask to be born into this family

Creamcrackersandricecakes · 20/02/2021 20:07

Why would PC be apologising for his son - a grown man - who hasn't done anything wrong anyway?
Why isn't Prince Andrew apologising for the embarrassment that he caused?

Thomasina2021 · 20/02/2021 20:07

You can visit end of life patients

Inthevirtualwaitingroom · 20/02/2021 20:11

just leave the thread, no need to delete

i would leave if i was unhappy with the thread.

SummerHouse · 20/02/2021 20:12

I don't really get why people in the public eye can be seen as fair game for criticism regardless of circumstance. If a 99 yr old acquaintance of your great grandfather was in hospital possibly dying would you announce it on Facebook with a rant about what an arsehole they are?

DobbyTheHouseElk · 20/02/2021 20:14

My post was deleted, had a panic, but I’ve worked out why it was deleted.

@Lynora

And the Meghan bashers come crawling out of the woodwork...
Evidently there is nothing good on TV tonight that their seemingly limited intellect can understand.
oakleaffy · 20/02/2021 20:15

Men born 99 yrs ago to a life of privilege will of course have different attitudes to modern millennials.

The World was a completely different place, then.

Dof E didn't mind people referring to him as ''The Bubble'' {Bubble and squeak in Cockney rhyming slang}.

He will have the absolute best treatments for any ailments he may have, {Unlike the rest of us}

DS who did Dof E at school said ''Is he still alive? He must be ancient by now..

He had a lovely life with horses ..

I was genuinely shocked when Diana died so young, but Duke of Edinburgh, with his Irascible humour wouldn't be mawkish about his own passing , whenever that may be..

He'd probably say ''Get over it! we can't AWLL live forever!''
