Just head that Prince Charles has been to visit him in hospital due to ‘exceptional circumstances’. He’s never visited him in hospital before and apparently left looking emotional. It doesn’t look good does it? I wonder how this will play out given the pandemic?

As @VinylDetective says people really need to stop judging the past by today's standards

Armi · 20/02/2021 20:30

@ChristmasSexyTime

Yup, can just see the headline now re: it being Megan's fault.

Really wish they'd leave her alone. It's appalling bullying.

Well, it’s to be expected. It’s unfortunate timing that PP has been taken to hospital at the same time that everything has happened this week. It’s entirely very possible that events if this week have nothing to do with PP’s hospital admission, but you can’t really blame people for making a link.

He’s an old man who loves his family. The last year must have been heartbreaking for him and the Queen.

HerbsnSpices · 20/02/2021 20:31

I am a republican but if PP has snuffed it I’ll be really sad. He was an alright bloke. I don’t mind the old royals, it’s the new ones that are shite.

@8bitgame

Nigel Farage has said on Twitter there is a "big announcement" due tonight after 10pm. Which may or may not be connected. Or just Nigel trying to make himself relevant.
Knowing Boris, this will be all schools back full-time this Monday! I am joking. I hope.
the80sweregreat · 20/02/2021 20:32

@MrsMackesy

You only have to think of the shameful trolling of Capt Tom and family at a similar age to know that some people are lower than a reptile's belly.
Well said. That was sad to hear that a man of 100 doing some good for the country and the NHS , was trolled! Some people are so sick in the head. It's beyond belief.
VinterKvinna · 20/02/2021 20:33

@Terfy

I know he can't live forever, but I'm not ready for bad news like this.
How does this effect you personally? Are you close to pp?
JamesMiddletonsMarshmallows · 20/02/2021 20:33

Oh that's so sad, I do hope PP has a speedy recovery.

ballsdeep · 20/02/2021 20:35

@EdithWeston

His affairs?! Oh no! Don't say that! I am in a Disney world where they have been happily married for 80 years!

It's OK - The Crown isn't a documentary

Phew! Grin
BananaPop2020 · 20/02/2021 20:36

@Dobbyafreeelf please show me one post where I have said this is “their fault”. You won’t be able to find one.

Multicover · 20/02/2021 20:37

How is Harry quarantining relevant? That’s not how quarantine works. You quarantine when you get to your destination surely?
As supposed to before and then being exposed to potentially a few hundred others in an airport and on a trans Atlantic flight.

Frazzled2207 · 20/02/2021 20:37

Is it not a private hospital he’s at? It’s not afaik law that hospitals can’t admit visitors so I would have thought they’d be more flexible than nhs.

What is intriguing though is I’m sure they could have slipped in through the back door. But no do it publically.

It’s much more likely there will be an announcement at 8am if there is anything to announce.
8bitgame · 20/02/2021 20:37

@MrsMackesy. I hope you’re joking too but I’m very worried Boris is going to go for his “Big Bang”

CherryRoulade · 20/02/2021 20:39

Source? Our son has been making phone calls this afternoon to inform some that their leave is cancelled.

VladmirsPoutine · 20/02/2021 20:40

@HerbsnSpices Agreed - he was alright; his countless outright racist remarks over the years make him a pretty solid bloke in my book too!

Charles did go through the back door. Do you really think the paps weren’t/aren’t covering all the entrances?
nimbuscloud · 20/02/2021 20:40

@BananaPop2020
Do you have a view about Prince Andrew and how his behaviour may have affected his father’s health over the last year??

8bitgame · 20/02/2021 20:40

Forthbridgedown is all over Twitter at the moment. Not that that means anything really.

CoffeeRunner · 20/02/2021 20:41

Having worked in a hospital through the majority of the pandemic, I do fear that that reason Prince Charles was allowed to visit isn’t a happy one.

Team that with Eugenie choosing today to announce her baby’s name - honouring Philip - well.

It’s sad however old he is though. If he is EOL then a 94 year old woman is losing her husband of 70 odd years. How can that ever not be sad.

nimbuscloud · 20/02/2021 20:41

I’m sure he would be thrilled to know that presumably confidential information he shared with you is now being shared with Mumsnet 🤔

kurtrussellsbeard · 20/02/2021 20:42

@VinylDetective to be fair he actually didn't. I completely misremembered that and I apologise.

It's really not ever been okay to be racist afaik so not sure that him being a product of his time stands up.

Dobbyafreeelf · 20/02/2021 20:42

@BananaPop2020 you have certainly implied it!!! You have very clearly implied that they shouldn't have made any statement this week.

'Their actions have been in bad taste' - err how??
All they have done is reaffirm their commitments to the causes that are important to them.

halcyondays · 20/02/2021 20:42

It’s not looking good is it? I don’t think they would have anyone visiting unless they feared the worst.They keep hospital visiting to a minimum even in normal times and I don’t think they would visit now without good reason even if the hospital allowed it. It’s sad to think of PP or the Queen not being around, they’ve always just been there.

Apparently Prince Charles is staying in London tonight. There haven’t been any more updates from the Palace.

LittleDoritt · 20/02/2021 20:44

Visiting at our hospital is for EOL which is "three hours or less" to live. Although I'm sure that the Royals don't have to follow commoners rules.
