Can we list the inconsistencies in F.R.I.E.N.D.S just for funsies?

I know it’s probably been done many times before but I’ve just noticed one I can’t believe I hadn’t seen before!

  • when Joey is about to act in the war film with Gary Oldman, Phoebe doesn’t know who they fought in WW1 but in the Thanksgiving episode she was a nurse in the same war in a previous life.

So she would have known they fought the Germans!

When Emma is born Ross' dad says it's his first grandchild - errrr Ben?!

Ross literally says that at the time and jack says "i mean first granddaughter" then he turns away and mouths wow because he forgot about ben.

My friend in NYC always said that apt would cost 3k a month in rent and they work in coffee shops...!!...totally unrealistic.....I never like the show...total rubbish.

We are taking about over 25 years ago when rent was much cheaper. Also as pp said monicas apartment was rent controlled and in her grandmothers name. Also chandler had a very good high paid job abd loads of savings as referenced when he shows monica when she wants the expensive wedding.

Monica's apartment was under rent-control because the grandmother had previously lived there so 'normal' rents wouldn't apply Grin

When Joey is dating Elle macpherson chandler pays for the double dates they go on (but let’s Joey take the credit) and he says he was going to buy Monica flowers but couldn’t afford to as he paid for dinner last night, but then he has thousands of dollars saved when it comes to paying for the wedding.

The episode where Phoebe and Rachel are trying to find their Xmas presents from Monica and the tree is up. On supposedly the same day Joey rushes to tell them he's just kissed Janine and the tree has gone and its no longer Xmas time.

Also Chandler on his engagement night, he has clearly lost several stone between seasons.

In the episode when Monica and Rachel are looking after Ben they bump his head on a wooden beam. Further into the episode Ross teases Monica about bumping bens head on the beam, Ross them runs into a wooden pillar and bumps his head... further
Into the series there is no longer the wooden pillar it has now gone from every other episode.

The Carol and Ross relationship.

In one flashback episode which takes place a year before the pilot, he tells the gang that Carol has come out as a lesbian and is now with Susan.

But he must sleep with her a year later because in the first series she's pregnant. So she cheated on Susan!

Yep and they’re all in entirely different outfits but the kiss has supposedly just happened as Chandler says “so what happened next?” And Joey says “I came over to tell you guys” and Chandler says “so she’s just standing over there waiting for you?” And Joey runs out.

@GlitchStitch Don’t get me started on Chandlers appearance! Around season 6 he looks like a completely different actor.
I know it’s because of MP’s addiction/rehab etc but it annoys me so much

Phone didn’t know either. That’s why when Rachel looks at her for an answer she deflects it back to Rachel by saying “go ahead”

True but most people I know who have saved that huge amount did it by not buying anything for years!

I wonder if they just got the timeline wrong with Carol and Ross because I'm sure we're meant to think that Carol has only just come clean about her affair but then finds out she's pregnant once they've separated.

I assume they didn’t really worry much about inconsistencies because at the time they were just shooting another run of the mill sitcom and couldn’t foresee how massive friends would become and certainly not that so many people would be able to watch it on repeat and pause and rewind and discuss it on Internet forums 25+ years later Grin

Ross claiming to be a virgin when he slept with Carol, yet later on admits to sleeping with the woman who cleaned their dormitory in college.

Didn't Ross lose his virginity to the librarian at school? Mrs Altman. I think he said she was a very gentle lover or something like that.
