Will anyone else miss Trump a bit?

Yes, the guys a complete git. But at a time when the news has been dominated by endless brexit or endless covid, he did supply entertainment value, in 'what an arse, can't believe he said that' sort of way.

I think I'll miss it a bit.

Will anyone else miss Covid a bit?

Frownette · 19/01/2021 18:04

He'll still be around, ranting away

Fieldofyellowflowers · 19/01/2021 18:04

Nope (pops the P)

TooTrueToBeGood · 19/01/2021 18:06

Possibly, but not with the second shot :)

diavlo · 19/01/2021 18:08

Yep, as much as a dose of the clap!

Stompythedinosaur · 19/01/2021 18:09

No. I'm haunted by the accounts of what was done to the kids in cages with no adult care on the Mexico border. Young kids trying to care for younger kids. Absolutely awful.

Jaypreen · 19/01/2021 18:09

[quote Roussette]I think you'll find Obama had no problem at all "kow towing" to the Iranian terrorist state in the form of the immense bribe he paid it by agreeing to the JCPOA with the hope that it would change Iran's belligerent conduct and delay the development of nuclear weapons

That is false.

No it isn't .

That is an opinion piece and just different reporting.

I can't get my head round how anyone can support Trump. He probably did some things that were reasonable, and possibly even good, but that's all been negated by January 6th AFAIC.

Of course it is. But there's little doubt that Obama's policy of appeasement was the wrong one.

I accept 150 bln is a high end figure. Bit the fact is we don't know the exact amount.

When you say "support Trump". I do not support the man unconditionally and without caveat. He's a narcissist and an ego maniac. I'm simply providing a bit of balance. he containment of the Iranian mullahs and the peace deal in the ME are undeniably good things. People's unwillingness to admit, just that because it was done by Trump -- is an irrational way to behave.

Roussette · 19/01/2021 18:25

Fair enough Jaypreen. We are on opposite sides of the fence and never the two will meet I suspect.

As I say, there may well have been some reasonable actions he took. It was all overshadowed continually by the bad stuff.

But we can agree to disagree and the wonderful Dan Rather's tweet, just in, sums it up for me...

It feels a bit like Christmas Eve, but you already know what you’ll get when you open the present. A restoration of American democracy, decency, and hope.

Dont worry about it, hes the only man dodgy enough for the FA to deal with so hes a definite for next england manager.

HazeyJaneII · 19/01/2021 18:35

I'll miss him like a nasty case of bleeding piles.

BrimfulOfBaba · 19/01/2021 18:38

Thank your lucky stars you have the privilege to be entertained by a white supremacist, rather then being worried about what that means for yours and your family's welfare. Absolutely shocking.

FlossieTeacakesFurCoat18 · 19/01/2021 18:39

I'll miss Sarah Cooper lipsyncing to his speeches

user1471565182 · 19/01/2021 18:40

WTF are you talking about Jaypreen? solved the middle east? he caused a whole new fucking war in Kurdistan and increased bombing 70% over Obama in Syria, Iraq and Afghanistan (using the biggest non nuclear device ever built) and went to the very, very edge of war with Iran to the point they shot down an airliner thinking it was a cruise missile. Can people just at least try to bloody think please?

I don't know if you saw The Kennedys documentary that was broadcast recently?

I'm not sure I would have liked JFK the person at all had I known him. That said, I would most likely have voted for him.

Jaypreen · 19/01/2021 19:05

Or Bobby Kennedy for that matter. He was rather an aggressive, cold, egotistical [and adulterous it turned out] man.

Again though, he'd have probably got my vote. Personality doesn't or shouldn't in my view, come into it. Yes Trump isn't in the least bit likeable but so what? That doesn't mean he or the Kennedy's had to be a bad presidents - anyone could potentially grow into the job and they are surrounded by civil servants who will protect the USA from their worst accesses anyway.

bellinisurge · 19/01/2021 19:08

No.

Roussette · 19/01/2021 19:10

Haven't seen it, no. Will look out for it.
I think it's just the new lows we have reached in this Administration that are so galling. The flouting of the norms, the enriching himself, the self interest that are too much.

solved the middle east? It's interesting that you feel the need to put words in my mouth in order to try to prove a point.

What you're claiming about Kurdistan is ridiculous. Ditto Iran.

Trumps bombing of Syria was limited, 59 Tomahawk missiles were involved, and the US says that ‘every precaution was taken to execute this strike with minimal risk to personnel at the airfield’.

The intention was to send a message that Assad's use of chemical weapons is unacceptable. Why would you not agree with that?

DrunkenKoala · 19/01/2021 19:12

Won’t miss Trump (he makes my skin crawl) but I have enjoyed listening and chuckling along to the reports Simon Marks on LBC has done on him.

Trump isn’t going away, there’s talk of his impeachment starting later this week - if he can find a lawyer.

DuncinToffee · 19/01/2021 19:14

They didn't do that very well on January 6th or with the election result

Roussette · 19/01/2021 19:16

But this didn't happen did it? The turnover of staff was way more than the last five presidents. There's a reason for that.
Hundreds of positions left unfilled. He appointed people clearly unfit for the job but just because they pandered to him.
He alienated allies and cosied up to despots and dictators... Kim Jong Un, Ergodan, Putin et al.
There was not one sign of him growing into the job, not one, he progressively got worse and worse.

None of them are perfect. Biden won't be. But he'll be a hell of a lot better than the last 4 years.
