Will anyone else miss Trump a bit?

Yes, the guys a complete git. But at a time when the news has been dominated by endless brexit or endless covid, he did supply entertainment value, in 'what an arse, can't believe he said that' sort of way.

I think I'll miss it a bit.

@Jaypreen

Because you wrote The idea that he could blow us all up was scary.

I dont think it's unreasonable of me to assume that you meant by that, that you believe that he could start a nuclear war.

Also of course you are entitled to have an opinion. Who said otherwise? In fact I welcome your opinion.

Yes both of your accounts have responded well done you
Thedarknightsaredrawingin · 19/01/2021 15:58

Not one bit. Just curious where he will hide away in the coming months?

surelynotnever · 19/01/2021 15:58

Gosh, sweetie, you don't rate me?

Nah I think you are a raging hypocrite.

OP posts:
Jaypreen · 19/01/2021 16:00

That's unfair and if I may say, rather desperate of you.

All I'm asking is what you're basing that statement on?

surelynotnever · 19/01/2021 16:01

Yes both of your accounts have responded well done you

@Theunamedcat

That's hilarious! You seriously are so unable to conceive of two people disagreeing with you that you have to invent a narrative that someone has gone to the trouble of creating a sock puppet account just to reply to you twice! Grin That is Trump level of egotistical delusion funny!

@Jaypreen

The environmental damage for a start

www.google.com/amp/s/amp.cnn.com/cnn/2021/01/18/politics/trump-climate-legacy-bidens-challenge/index.htm

Plus the rise of right wing terrorism under his watch. The families ripped apart through his policies which meant child immigrants and refugees were separated from their parents and sent away and now cannot be traced

www.google.com/amp/s/amp.theguardian.com/us-news/2020/oct/21/trump-separation-policy-545-children-parents-still-not-found

The chaos and division in the US will not be fixed overnight. They’ve never been as closed to civil war in modern times. This has an impact on the world.

Jaypreen · 19/01/2021 16:03

I would have logged out, in again and put it more politely myself.

ProudAuntie76 · 19/01/2021 16:04

Also...I have absolutely no desire to waste my time debating Trump again. So I’m keeping my answers short and won’t be engaging further. He’s sucked up way too much of our collective headspace for far too long and I am MASSIVELY relieved that he’s on his way out. Looking forward to not having to speak or hear about him again.

GhostPepperTears · 19/01/2021 16:05

No. Not a bit. Genuinely.

For the last year or so I have been deliberately limiting my exposure to Trump news, including switching the radio/TV off anytime he is on and it made a massive difference to how much calmer I felt.

With the more recent stuff (election, Capitol etc) I have started reading it all again and the hatred and frustration just boils up again.

I loved a quote I saw recently: "the world is now, basically, Stormy Daniels: desperately wishing Trump would hurry up and finish so that we can all gets some sleep" Grin

TinkersRucksack · 19/01/2021 16:05

No.

He's about as funny as a cold sore. I'm looking forward to reading news that his cheeseburger infested heart has packed up.

LaMarschallin · 19/01/2021 16:06

Nah I think you are a raging hypocrite.

You think something bad about me.

I can live with that.

In fact, it gives me a warm, fuzzy feeling.

rooarsome · 19/01/2021 16:07

No, I think he's a very dangerous man. Politicians are not here for entertainment, they are here to govern

surelynotnever · 19/01/2021 16:10

In fact, it gives me a warm, fuzzy feeling

Then you are clearly over-invested in me.

In answer to the thread title... NO NO NO.

If I wanted comedy I would watch the Chuckle Brothers. He is a dangerous bigoted nasty racist and is defined by nepotism with his family in the WH, he has abused all the emolument clauses and broken every rule in the book.... and made a wonderful country a complete and utter laughing stock.

I cannot wait for him to be gone. I have this on my screensaver at the moment.

No he's a dangerous lunatic. So glad his jibes at the disabled amused you.

Ifloviescare · 19/01/2021 16:45

As a world leader? No.

Splann · 19/01/2021 16:46

If I’m scraping the barrel to find something to miss about Trump it will be that he made Boris and the UK look like less of a car crash in comparison.

surelynotnever · 19/01/2021 16:51

This is a common trait on mumsnet. To pretend someone said something and then attack them for the words you are pretending they said. Strange hobby.

Nope. Have longed for the return of boring, competent political leadership for some time. The sooner it arrives over here as well the better. I can entertain myself with all manner of things and people, none of whom seriously advise people to treat bleach as medicine.

AlternativePerspective · 19/01/2021 16:59

These pro trump supporters aren’t very good at hiding their real feelings are they?

Anyone knows that writing how much you admire Trump would never get a good reception on MN or anywhere else for that matter, so by making up the idea that he will be missed for his comedy value seems more plausible. Except it isn’t.

It’s being rumoured that he is going to pardon himself which apparently has never been done so there isn’t a precedent over whether it’s allowed, and then he’s going to pardon 100 other people.

I don’t actually think he will stay visible after this. He will hopefully be convicted after his impeachment, and then he will lose all his protection etc. Even his own party have turned against him, and while some do still support him, no-one is going to want to vote him in as a future leader should he ever get the chance again.

I reckon that Melania is probably long gone and that he will disappear to some place where he will be immune from prosecution.

Xerochrysum · 19/01/2021 17:04

@surelynotnever

Interesting things are entertaining. News shows are entertainment. The news is just another show, as the song goes. I have watched the news in the past couple of weeks and its been really interesting, thanks. All that stuff at capitol hill is fascinating.
I'm quite shocked at this comment. All the violence, people getting injured and died, is fascinating entertainment for you?
