I put them up late and will take them down on Jan1st but there’s a trend of taking them down for Boxing Day now. Does anyone last until 12th night?

I think it depends how much your Christmas decorations get in the way. I have to completely reconfigure my living room to get the tree in the only gap that it can go. Then plugbars everywhere for the lights. It just gets me down and I want my space back once the 25th is over.

Plus I have a DH and two adult DC who don't care. When they were younger I would put up with it a lot longer. This year, as we are having no visitors nobody is even going to see to judge.

EggBobbin · 26/12/2020 12:56

I want mine down but DH and DC looked horrified when I suggested. I’m 35weeks pregnant and have a nesting itch to scratch...

LaurieFairyCake · 26/12/2020 13:01

I was busy this year and put the tree up Christmas Eve

Definitely not sick of it yet

OhCormoranAllYeFaithful · 26/12/2020 13:05

@PotteringAlong

Ours will come down the day before we go back to school
So, February at the earliest this year!
Frenchdressing · 26/12/2020 13:06

I like the idea of a new start in Jan so will do then 1st or 2nd Jan but I leave the Xmas holly and foliage I have in a vase up until 12th night.

These threads are part of my Christmas tradition Xmas Smile

DressingGownofDoom · 26/12/2020 13:12

Erm no Confused it's Boxing Day! Sit down and open the quality street, there's another week of this to go.

Nonamesavail · 26/12/2020 13:13

Usually down by boxing day but tier 4 so no ones over thus year house is a tip....just leaving it

Frenchdressing · 26/12/2020 13:14

No I’m not planning to. Just curious as to what others do. I didn’t realise threads like this were a regular thing! Sorry!

It’s 12 days of Christmas starting 25th Confused

I’m not religious but the festival started yesterday, not finished. I blame the shops and marketing.

HelloCanYouHearMe · 26/12/2020 13:15

Started taking them down last night

AiryFairyMum · 26/12/2020 13:15

We are only on day two of the 12 days of Christmas!

SSCCLL · 26/12/2020 13:16

I’m going to get mine down as soon as I have a day off on the 29th. Would ideally have them down today, they’re driving me mad

Sparklingbrook · 26/12/2020 13:17

It may be only day 2 but DS1 and I are back to work tomorrow and DH on Monday so we're not even going to miss the absent decorations.

Themostwonderfultimeoftheyear · 26/12/2020 13:17

Normally the day before returning to school as I work in a school so too busy once back. However will be 12th night this year due to delayed return to school.

Definitely not boxing day as it is my favourite day of all!

Sewrainbow · 26/12/2020 13:17

No way! It's still Christmas!

Santaisreel · 26/12/2020 13:20

I think it's a bit miserable to put everything away on Boxing Day, especially for people with DC, it seems quite abrupt. I don't wait until 12th night, I don't like the idea of starting 2021 with 2020's tree Blushmine come down 31st Dec. I put them up on the 1st.

Plussizejumpsuit · 26/12/2020 13:21

I just think the thought of taking them down today is so sad! I wonder if Christmas is a bit of a different thing for people now? In that it's the build up which is the thing rather than the celebration starting properly on Christmas eve?

Cocolapew · 26/12/2020 13:22

I'm the same as Sparklingbrook I have to move furniture around and into different rooms to fit the tree in, I need my space back now.
I do have fairy lights/cluster lights up all winter so they'll be staying.

topcat2014 · 26/12/2020 13:22

I only broke up from work on Christmas eve so don't want to yet;)

Barton10 · 26/12/2020 13:22

No mine are coming down New Year’s Day when I will also do a massive clean of the house and get some spring flowers in vases. They have been up since 21st November too!

KendraTheVampireSlayer · 26/12/2020 13:23

I will probably do it on Monday if I can be arsed.

readingismycardio · 26/12/2020 13:24

Mine were up at the end of November 🤦🏽‍♀️ gonna take them down on the 1st

JM10 · 26/12/2020 13:24

I like to put them up early, usually about the 1st, but then have them down for new years. Of I start the new year with them up it feels like I'm trying to cling on to Christmas, but it's gone

Sparklingbrook · 26/12/2020 13:25

I know I am in the minority but I hate the build up and not bothered about celebrating actual Christmas either. Especially after this year I would have quite gladly skipped the whole thing. Getting the decorations down makes me feel happier TBH.

We're all different etc...
