Anyone taking their decs down?

I put them up late and will take them down on Jan1st but there’s a trend of taking them down for Boxing Day now. Does anyone last until 12th night?

The problem is that some people do not have much idea about tradition. Their decorations, plus the ludicrous overkill of three trees, are proudly brandished in very early December. Then they are discarded too soon. Surprise.

I cannot bear that attitude.

‘Decs’ - shudder.

It’s truly MN Christmas now that we have had this thread.

The wise men haven’t made it into the same room as the nativity scene yet, and once they do they will stay there until Candlemas. Happy third day of Christmas, everyone Smile

Well mine are down, the house is clean and Christmas clutter-free. It's lovely.

Frenchdressing · 27/12/2020 15:34

Oh. Sorry for saying decs....why is that a problem?

I only returned to MN again recently. I hadn’ t realised you weren’t allowed to shorten words for the sake of brevity.

Also genuinely interested in when people take their DECORATIONS down.

When did you put yours up @Pascha?

Pascha · 27/12/2020 16:14

6th December.

LadyEloise · 27/12/2020 16:14

@Janegrey333
I agree.

Ginfordinner · 27/12/2020 17:19

@Pascha

6th December.
And that's why ours are still up. We only did ours on the 21st December.
Pascha · 27/12/2020 17:23

Well, yes. Your Christmas is not my Christmas. As long as we are all happy.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 27/12/2020 17:27

Our decs - great abbreviation - 😀 will come down New Year’s Day. Christmas well and truly over by then plus a ds birthday imminently so out with the Christmas cards and pressies, in with birthday cards and pressies (he’s 23 now, but have done this for 23 years so Christmas will always be over by January)

Frenchdressing · 27/12/2020 18:02

I live in the NW we always says decs. Might be a regional thing maybe. I think they say deccies in Liverpool 😆

That's fine of course Smile people can do what they like with their decs.

However, Christmas covers a specified time period in the calendar and it is not possible to declare it " over" , unless it actually is ( nor is it possible to " cancel" it).

Cam2020 · 27/12/2020 18:52

1st Jan for me. I also like a fresh start to the year.

RockawayBeach · 27/12/2020 19:00

I usually love everything Christmas and leave everything up until 12th night. However this year I've had a rubbish Christmas and I can't wait to get it all gone. Have today taken down the kitchen decorations and kitchen tree as well as the hallway and stairs garlands - DC & DH were horrified... so I'll leave the living room tree and decorations for a few days but I really want everything gone before New Year.
