Anyone fancy a new jigsaw thread?

Hello all.

I really enjoyed the last jigsaw thread which was going on during the summer and wondered if anyone fancied sharing any pictures of jigsaws that are currently being done?
I'm nearly finished with my Disney Christmas one. A nice easy one which has only taken me a couple of days.
The weather is grim today so I expect it will be finished very soon! I will post a full picture once it is complete.
Would love to see your jigsaws....

thedogsmother Love the look of that dog one. I looked for it and fell down a black hole of Eurographics puzzles. Love the look of this one too..

@OhToBeASeahorse sorry haven't RTFT yet but the same thing happened to my Mum's partner and he emailed the company and they sent him out the missing piece. Worth a try.

Cowgran · 30/12/2020 23:09

I haven't done any of my own puzzles lately but did these with my 5 and 3 year old yesterday. Such a lovely activity to do together.

@FeltCarrot I love it! Any idea what the brand is or where it's from?

BBCK · 31/12/2020 05:20

I’ve been obsessed with jigsaws this year as well. I only do Ravensburger, Eurographics, and sometimes Gibson puzzles as they are definitely the best quality. I love puzzles where you learn something, such as a map or something historical and Eurographics puzzles are great for this.
I have started buying used puzzles from EBay and they have always been in great condition. I tend to keep them and redo them, the swap and share with friends and family.
I have a 2000 piece Ravensburger awaiting my attention today 😀😀

FeltCarrot · 31/12/2020 06:07

@Cowgran it’s from Heirloompuzzles, not cheap but I definitely think we will do this puzzle a couple of times a year, it comes with a little notebook so you can time yourself!

I've just brought out my 1000 peice World Map jigsaw out from under the sofa which I started at the beginning of the year never to be seen again!

I made a bit of progress on it last night. I find that I am so tired of doing nothing in the evening that it keeps me going a bit longer and I can still be in the company of the rest of the family.

I've found the magnifier app on my iPhone really handy for zooming in as my eyesight isn't the best. I'm going to start on the countries today and put my geography skills to the test too.

Ooh can I please join this thread is lovely, have needed something to occupy my mind and relieve the insane boredom I’m currently feeling! Purchased the only jigsaw that appealed from my local Tesco which happens to be a Jaws one Grin 500 pieces to start with, it’s been years since I have done a jigsaw.

Ulysses · 31/12/2020 07:43

My 9yoDD would love that @NorthernLights77 - Jaws is a favourite of hers Smile. She tried helping me last night then mixed up the carefully organised pieces I had gathered. I do get excited for her when she makes a match.

I'm having to go to Tesco shortly so will have a look at the ones there. I think Jigsaws might my go to boredom reliever in these coming weeks.

dubyalass · 31/12/2020 09:06

I’m going through all my childhood puzzles, found at the back of a cupboard during a recent clear out. Mostly 500 pieces and it’s been a nice way to pass the long boring evenings rather than watching the TV.

The one I’m putting off is Monet’s Waterlilies Grin

@cinderrose

Loving seeing everyone's jigsaws. I was given a couple of 1000 piece puzzles for Christmas.

Can anyone recommend a good jigsaw board??

I can't take over a table atm but would like a flat board/mat. Not a roll-up one I think. Thanks!

DH and I have the £30 from Argos each.

Mine is jumbo, and his a slightly different brand. The only difference I can see is the colour of the inside. I’m happy with it.

AlwaysLatte · 31/12/2020 09:22

We did this one over Christmas

@cinderrose we have this, which can slide away easily and when in use just be lifted off the table for mealtimes.

Thanks @FeltCarrot

TellySavalashairbrush · 31/12/2020 09:30

I bought my first EVER jigsaw just before Christmas. Only 500 pieces and I’m actually concerned I’m going to struggle with it Smile. Any suggestions for a jigsaw Virgin greatly appreciated (it’s a house /scenic setting type picture)

Hazelmazel · 31/12/2020 09:35

If anyone likes the oddly shaped pieces, I'd recommend Wentworth puzzles. They are all funny shapes, no traditional shaped pieces at all, and even more so if you get a difficult cut/shaped edge puzzle. I have one with stamps and every piece is either a stamp outline or a queens head to go in a stamp! I buy them and resell them on eBay because they are so expensive new but they hold their value well. Generally they are 250 piece, but harder than you'd expect for that size because of the odd shapes. This is one of my Christmas ones...
Smaller jigsaws I do on the felt side of a noticeboard or I have a folding jigsaw board for bigger ones.

@Ulysses She’s a braver girl than I at that age, I remember creeping downstairs when I was maybe 6 or 7 when my parents were watching it just in time for the scene where the disembodied head rose from the bottom of the ocean. Scared the living daylights out of me, had nightmares for weeks!!Grin Just looked at the box it’s by cardinal games if your local Tesco doesn’t have it!

Gruffalosgrandma · 31/12/2020 09:48

I'm starting this one today. It may last me for quite some time !

Some of these jigsaws are beautiful.

I am doing one for the first time in a very long time. I will post a pic later.

Hazelmazel · 31/12/2020 10:04

I love my Wentworth jigsaws, here are a few I did over December:
The pieces are laser cut wood so fit together beautifully, and they smell amazing.

Finished the Christmas jiggy last night! Was trickier than expected...we started on 21st December expecting to be finished by Christmas Grin. DH helped the last couple of days. Lovely jigsaw. I can see it becoming a Christmas tradition for the family.

@TheDuchessOfAquitaine I did that one last Christmas and you're right it was quite tough. Thomas Kinkade does beautiful pictures though.
