Anyone fancy a new jigsaw thread?

Hello all.

I really enjoyed the last jigsaw thread which was going on during the summer and wondered if anyone fancied sharing any pictures of jigsaws that are currently being done?
I'm nearly finished with my Disney Christmas one. A nice easy one which has only taken me a couple of days.
The weather is grim today so I expect it will be finished very soon! I will post a full picture once it is complete.
Would love to see your jigsaws....

One piece missing which I think the cat batted under the dresser ..........

500 piece which only took about 3 hours - it's funny how 1000 pieces take far longer than twice the time taken for a 500 piece.

1st finish of the new year.

Well I mostly finished it about 11pm, but only found a pesky missing piece about 5 minutes ago while sorting the kids pile of doom Wink

Decided to work on colour patches, starting with the pink females. Tried to attache image, but its too big.

I'm about to thirds the way through a 1000 piece Ravensburger bookshop one. Such nice quality - I hate it when pieces fit in more than one place!

BIL gave us a puzzle for Christmas. Sadly it's a double sided one of a pile of Smarties Too difficult to be fun so it's straight to the charity shop with that one!

EspeciallyDetermined · 01/01/2023 09:38

I was given one for Christmas which has proved to be very tricky, its 700 pieces but consists of 12 separate cat shaped pictures of cats, so no corners and straight edges. I am on the verge of giving up, all together it takes up too much space and I'm back at work on Tues, I'll never do it after that, it needs natural light to distinguish between the very similar colours of all the cats.

BeyondMyWits · 01/01/2023 10:05

Everyone knows I like a jigsaw,so wasn't surprised to get one for Christmas, but yet another dark kincaid one. They are hard to do and don't seem to have any splash of colour to them.

Called at the works on the way home for a family visit and my 7 year old wanted this 500 piece Harry Potter jigsaw. We had an hour and a half with it and didn’t do too badly.

Love seeing everyone's jigsaws!

I hadn't done a jigsaw since I was tiny, bought a cheap Christmas-themed one on a whim and it was a disaster (1000 pieces of very similar coloured blurry sky and snow which soon broke my spirit).

Research suggested I should try a proper brand and that something with more defined, different coloured areas would be easier for me as a beginner. Treated myself to some small Ravensburger puzzles which were high quality and much more enjoyable (the 500 piece Matt Sewell British Birds was particularly fun to complete and so cute!). I think I will venture to try a 1000 piece Ravensburger next, wish me luck!

2orangey, they're lovely - specially like the bird one.

2orangey · 02/01/2023 21:52

@Coxspurplepippin It’s almost too lovely to put away! I think I will pass the others on to an organisation that I know will use them, but I just have to keep that one!

Hazelmazel · 02/01/2023 22:14

I've been so pleased this year that my littlest DD (12) has taken to doing puzzles as well, she's done 4 or 5 on her own 250/500 kind of size. Other kids could not be less interested!
I haven't had much chance to do many this year because of a horrible lurgy but I got a nice Christmassy one finished.

@2orangey I had the bird one a couple of years ago, it's lovely.

I have almost given up on my 12 separate cats one, it is doing my head in. I have got 8 of the partially done cats stacked on place mats as there's not enough room on my table, I have done all the easiest parts (the toys etc some of them are playing with, eyes, noses, paws) and have still got several hundred fur coloured pieces.

Diegofrompennyburn · 03/01/2023 07:56

It does make a difference having a quality one!

I spent a good hour on my Disney one yesterday, focussing on one instrument in the orchestra, the harp, which had nice defined strings. Today I'll do the timpani, as they are about the only red in the picture.

FuzzyPuffling · 05/01/2023 20:46

I just got two Ravensburger 1000 piece puzzles (with good pictures) from the middle of Lidl. £9.99 each.

Ulysses · 06/01/2023 06:35

DD bought me a 1000 Ravensburg puzzle for Xmas and it took me a good few days. It’s a rubbish photo but there big areas of similar colours or tiny pieces of multiple colours. It was a really good challenge.

I bought those puzzle sorting trays as well which came in handy towards the end where I was having to fit the prices by shape. I know they all have different names!

I’ve got one that I bought from the charity shop that I’ll probably dig out this month too.

DD bought me The Works of Jane Austen, unfortunately she had already given it to me for Mother’s Day! Waterstones were great and let me swap it for The Brontë one even though DD no longer had the receipt.

She obviously knows you well!

I've had my eye on that one for a while, keep hoping it'll turn up in a charity shop.

Coxspurplepippin · 06/01/2023 09:53

This is one I finished yesterday - only 500 pieces but took ages because I'm sick and my head feels like a marshmallow.

@Coxspurplepippin The Austen was is lovely to do, have just started the Brontë one and the colours are a lot darker! I also have a Liberty one from last Christmas to do.

OublietteBravo · 06/01/2023 10:55

I finished this one a couple of days ago (a Christmas present from DS). Really enjoyed it!

That's really lovely. Has a feel of the birdy one 2orangey posted upthread.

Feltcarrot, how fitting that the Brontë puzzle is darker Grin

WobblyLondoner · 07/01/2023 10:59

My mother gave me this 1000 piece jigsaw for Xmas. A really enjoyable one to complete - much easier than the last few ones I've had.
