Anyone fancy a new jigsaw thread?

Hello all.

I really enjoyed the last jigsaw thread which was going on during the summer and wondered if anyone fancied sharing any pictures of jigsaws that are currently being done?
I'm nearly finished with my Disney Christmas one. A nice easy one which has only taken me a couple of days.
The weather is grim today so I expect it will be finished very soon! I will post a full picture once it is complete.
Would love to see your jigsaws....

I started a Christmas jigsaw this evening. I’m still working for another week, so progress is likely to be slow.

InMySpareTime · 18/12/2022 20:33

Did this one a week or so ago.

Just finished a Wentworth wooden 500 piece Christmas one. It was quite challenging and enjoyable.

I keep looking at the Christmas ones and thinking I should get one. Since my last post, I've adopted a very inquisitive cat, though, so I'm a bit worried about what will happen when I get my jigsaw case opened... Still, hoping for something lovely for Christmas after dropping lots of hints!!

Coxspurplepippin · 18/12/2022 21:39

petitebleu our local charity shops have put all the Christmas jigsaws out - there are some lovely ones, some which would be £££££ if bought new.

Luckily our cats aren't really interested!

I found this in a charity shop last week. I so love a house of puzzles jigsaw Smile

Finished!

Eggs for sale next, which it’s previous owner had put away very diligently with the edge pieces in a separate bag!

I started and finished a 1000 piece on Christmas Day.
It took a good majority of the day and had to be moved for dinner.

That's very impressive @InMySpareTime

I like the way properly old threads I've been on, pop up again on MN now. I don't do jigsaws except at Christmas and usually only attempt 500 pieces as I can't manage 1000 in the week off work, I was given a 700 piece one yesterday so I will have to see how I get on with that.

poshme · 27/12/2022 07:54

@Marmite27 I always put the edge pieces in a separate bag. Speeds up the start and makes me happy!

IdisagreeMrHochhauser · 27/12/2022 22:04

We've done two this Christmas. First one was really easy. It had A B C or D on the back of the pieces so you knew what quadrant it went in.

The second one was more of a challenge. Can't add photos at the mo. Will try later.

Diegofrompennyburn · 28/12/2022 08:07

I started my Christmas jigsaw yesterday! It's a 1000 piece Disney panorama, have just about got the edges done, but all 4 corners are very similar.

Marmite27 · 28/12/2022 11:11

I have a couple of panoramic ones I can’t do, because they don’t fit on my jigsaw board Sad

MrsWombat · 28/12/2022 12:38

Ooooh what a coincidence, this thead appearing! We went to Smyths Toys yesterday as my small child had Christmas money burning in his pocket. He bought nothing, but I ended up coming home with two new puzzles and a puzzle mat. This is the one I'm starting with: amzn.to/3C68237 Not including toddler puzzles I've never done one before so this is going to be interesting. I love looking at all your completed puzzles. 😊

Taytocrisps · 28/12/2022 14:29

We're quite ambitious and have started a 2,000 piece Ravensburger travel jigsaw. We bought it during Covid (we did quite a lot of puzzles during Covid) but never actually started this one. We're seasoned jigsaw puzzle makers so I'm confident we'll finish it before I go back to work on the 5th. I've a large dining table and it's half-full of pieces. Nothing to show just yet because DD is patiently putting together the edge pieces (I hate the edge pieces).

Taytocrisps · 28/12/2022 14:31

That's a lovely festive scene @MadisonAvenue

Taytocrisps · 28/12/2022 14:33

Ooh, lots more festive scenes on this page - too many to mention individually.

I love this thread. After spending far too long deciding which Michael Storrings puzzle to get DD (and me!) for Christmas, the delivery dates had gone, so ended up with a Romantic Evening in Bath cheesy Ravensburger one (she's a first year at Bath uni and has been having more than a few romantic evenings I think!) and a Northern Lights one which is suitably wintry. Can't wait to start but she's currently writing essays.

I bought myself couple of Elena Essex jigsaws, but haven't got around to starting them yet. I love the colours. I did a bird one in the summer and enjoyed every piece. I want to catch up on some quilting first, but it's good that they're there waiting for me when I'm ready.

toomuchlikemyusername · 28/12/2022 22:51

This thread popped back into my active thread and it's inspired me to start a jigsaw today. Haven't done one in ages thanks to a busy year with lots of home improvements etc. it was however lovely to spend a few hours today with DP on one of the puzzles from our stash. Half way done as we've picked a relatively easy one to get us back into the swing of things.
