Anyone fancy a new jigsaw thread?

Hello all.

I really enjoyed the last jigsaw thread which was going on during the summer and wondered if anyone fancied sharing any pictures of jigsaws that are currently being done?
I'm nearly finished with my Disney Christmas one. A nice easy one which has only taken me a couple of days.
The weather is grim today so I expect it will be finished very soon! I will post a full picture once it is complete.
Would love to see your jigsaws....

That's another problem, if I can't use my jigsaw case as the sheets re too small I've got a big bit of cardboard but nowhere to put it if I need to take it off the table (our sofa is modular so there are feet between each seat and you can't get anything large under there). So they have to stay out till they are finished. Oh for a bigger house.

AthosRoussos · 08/01/2021 15:00

Hmm I hadn't thought of using a notice board. Good idea.

JaquelineBeanstalk · 09/01/2021 06:50

I got a roll up jigsaw mat for Christmas! Made by jaques.

We only have the one table, and sadly this week Dh has commandeered it to work on his Lego model. Which cannot be rolled up and put away.

This one took me 3 days. I need to get one of those jigsaw boards that I can slide under the sofa as I can't relax knowing the puzzle is taking over my coffee table. I'm in the market for a Moomins one next.

The start of my dog jigsaw from last night. The coloured bits are nice and easy, the dog bits not so much!

I have always loved jigsaws.
I’m currently doing an Agatha Christie puzzle. You read a summary of the crime then you complete the jigsaw and solve the mystery - just one problem - there isn’t a picture so you do the jigsaw ‘blind’. I’ve never done a jigsaw blind before so am quite enjoying it.
At Christmas DS2 bought me one of the wooden Wentworth puzzles - they are beautiful.
My favourite jigsaw is a 2000 piece by Ravensburger called ‘Legacy of the Divine Tarot’. It’s a few years old so I’m not sure if it’s available anymore.

Can I join the thread please?

I just finished a lovely 1000 piece Gibson's winter puzzle...

Can anyone recommend one that their 13 year old daughter has enjoyed?! She loved some large Harry Potter 500 piece ones and a 1000 piece one too. She's over Harry Potter now, I'm wk seeing if the Agatha Christie one would be too tricky??? (She loves her books)

Any other quirky recommendations for teen puzzlers?!

gerbo · 10/01/2021 18:12

Oops, jigsaw below. Really enjoyed it.

I'd really recommend the board I use, it's made by Gibson's too with a blue velvet cover and raised edge to keep your 1000 piece in place.

My 13 year old loved this one www.johnlewis.com/ridley%27s-inspiration-women-jigsaw-puzzle-1000-pieces/p4824552 I've done it as well and it is tricky!

@gerbo

As mentioned above, I’m currently working on an Agatha Christie jigsaw. It’s 750 pieces (although I think smaller ones are available) and there isn’t a guide picture so you have no idea what you’re putting together. At first I found it frustrating and was desperate for a bit of guidance but I concentrated on blocks of colour - what I assumed was the sky, a person etc and now it’s coming together nicely, although not yet far enough along to solve the mystery.
If you’re DD has plenty of patience she might enjoy having a go.

My DP likes jigsaws but not normally my thing. Enjoyed doing this one over the holidays though, is book covers by Edward Gorey. But a piece was missing 😤

I've just ordered this off the back of getting my mum one from the same series. www.presentindicative.com/products/arboretum-1000-piece-jigsaw-puzzle

WhiteFox and ComesAs, thank so much for your recommendations, I'll look into them both. Love the inspirational women jigsaw and I'll research the Agatha Christie!

hennaoj · 10/01/2021 19:53

I love jigsaw puzzles and of course saw the Ravensburger book shop ones on this thread. Alas! (word of the year) I cannot find any of them for sale. Cannot understand why they are soo hard to buy.

Madcats · 11/01/2021 19:28

I've just finished Frank Lloyd Wright's "Falling Water (the trees kept me busy for a few hours). DH visited it as a teen and it WAS going to be a Sunday afternoon joint effort until he wanted to watch something dull on TV. There is a blueprint/floor plan on the reverse side; he can tackle that!

There are some lovely jigsaws on here.

So glad I saw this thread, I'm stuck at home fed up, you've all reminded me that I did 2 puzzles in the last heatwave 2018. I have some more to make, will start tomorrow.

OublietteBravo · 11/01/2021 21:21

I’m waiting until after my cleaner has been to start my 2000 piece jigsaw.

giao · 11/01/2021 21:43

Ooh I like the trees!

poshme · 11/01/2021 21:46

The women one looks great. Sadly out of stock.

poshme · 11/01/2021 21:51

I use a piece of coroflute/correx. It's incredibly lightweight, so I can move it around easily, or pull onto my lap off the table to work closely.
I also slide under the sofa when I want the table clear.

fixyourgardengate · 11/01/2021 21:55

I got this one for Christmas. Very Challenging!

So many beautiful jigsaws on this thread.

Gerbo. I've done that winter scene one too.
