Hello all.

I really enjoyed the last jigsaw thread which was going on during the summer and wondered if anyone fancied sharing any pictures of jigsaws that are currently being done?
I'm nearly finished with my Disney Christmas one. A nice easy one which has only taken me a couple of days.
The weather is grim today so I expect it will be finished very soon! I will post a full picture once it is complete.
Would love to see your jigsaws....

Oh I've got a very similar themed one to that sourmilk except it's ducks coming to life out of a painting rather than polar bears. Wonder whether it's the same artist.

nancywhisky · 05/01/2021 15:40

I'm liking the art ones too. But they do look awfully difficult!

InMySpareTime · 05/01/2021 15:49

Did an easy peasy 300 piece jigsaw this morning, just for the sense of achievement:

I only discovered Cloudberries last year. They're very good.

DontOpenDeadInside · 05/01/2021 21:49

1st one is a Christmas present, I completed on NYD and 2nd one is an early birthday present off my OH who is trying to find one to challenge me. I'm about a 6th of the way through it (I'll add a pic tomorrow)

Son and I completed this one at the weekend. We both enjoyed doing it and look forward to trying another one soon.

All done. That was my last uncompleted one so I'll be on the hunt for something new now.

I like your bookshelf one @nancywhisky It looks satisfying.

Does anyone have a recommendation for a good puzzle board or mat?

At the moment I do mine on a table in the living room, but it means that table's out of action for a while, so I'm looking for storage options. There's this case that seems really popular on Amazon, but some reviewers say the material inside doesn't lie flat so the puzzle breaks up.

InMySpareTime · 08/01/2021 10:32

I have boarded across the bay window to make a puzzle table, but I know others who use cork noticeboards for jigsaws.

Shouldn't have clicked on this thread again.
(Googling jigsaws again)

OublietteBravo · 08/01/2021 10:44

I just use the dining room table and stick a tablecloth over the puzzle as an when necessary (not very often - we have a table in the kitchen and dinner guests are just a distant memory at the moment).

EssentiallyDelighted · 08/01/2021 10:51

I've got a puzzle board like that but the inner sections aren't always big enough for 1000 piece puzzles. Even when I do use it it's hard finding the best place to work - I only have the choice of coffee table in the living room, which is too low really or kitchen table which is ok but in use every day.

Cowgran · 08/01/2021 11:17

I use a cork notice board on the dining table. The pieces don't slide around and I just slide the board under the couch when I'm not working on it.

lifestooshort123 · 08/01/2021 12:41

@AlwaysLatte.
That's a lovely harbour picture. Do you mind me asking where you got it from?

Hazelmazel · 08/01/2021 13:23

I have a felt noticeboard that I use for smaller puzzles, it's small enough to have on my lap. And a puzzle board for bigger ones, I generally keep it under the sofa if it's got a puzzle in or stood up behind a cupboard if it's empty.
I would really really really love a dedicated puzzle table!

Greenteandchives · 08/01/2021 13:28

That’s gorgeous Doorbells. Post again when it’s finished. I love lots of sea or sky to get stuck into.
I’m using my dining table for jigsaws at present. Nobody’s coming to eat with us anytime soon. Sad There’s always one on the go.

TrickyD · 08/01/2021 13:32

Has anyone bought one of the wooden puzzles which are bombarding me on FB?

They are the faces of animals, and some claim that every piece is the shape of an animal or flower. I do not believe that the ‘every piece’ claim is true.

There are various firms offering the same puzzles. One offers free shipping and handling, but you do not get to find out the cost of this until you have entered all your card details. I suspect this cost would be inflated making the puzzle as expensive as the 50% off ones or similar.

Has anyone bought one, were you pleased, and, if you don't mind my asking, how much did you pay?

Hazelmazel · 08/01/2021 13:40

I've seen those ads too TrickyD! They look like copies of the wentworth puzzles, they do shaped animal puzzles and quirky shapes - although not every piece is shaped like an animal/flower.

Oh can I join you all? I am a bit of a newbie to the jigsaw world.

I attempted to do this at the start of lockdown, but our then kittens kept trying to "help". It became my Christmas project. DH watched my slow but steady progress over a couple of days and then became hooked too. Jigsaws are now our "dry January" project.

This was a pig to do (and I have mislaid 3 pieces since leaving it rolled up for 6 months). It was really shiny under lights.

I'd be interested to see how the Shakespeare and Sherlock Holmes jigsaws work out - my local bookshop stocks those.
