Anyone fancy a new jigsaw thread?

Hello all.

I really enjoyed the last jigsaw thread which was going on during the summer and wondered if anyone fancied sharing any pictures of jigsaws that are currently being done?
I'm nearly finished with my Disney Christmas one. A nice easy one which has only taken me a couple of days.
The weather is grim today so I expect it will be finished very soon! I will post a full picture once it is complete.
Would love to see your jigsaws....

Here's my one - asked "D"H for help finding one piece fairly early on and he took over and did quite a chunk of it Hmm - not impressed.

Does anyone else hate breaking them up? I've just put away the moomins one and feel a bit sad, I have spent so much time focussed on it in the last week.

toomuchlikemyusername · 03/01/2021 13:12

Loving all of the pictures and associated stories.

Expensivelydecorated I know what you mean, I leave them out for a day or two to admire and make sure I have a photo of it and then it gets broken up. I try to look upon it as it now being ready to pass it on for someone else to enjoy.

We do the Ravensburger Christmas jigsaw every year in December - it's become our traditional lead up to Christmas. Wasn't hugely keen on the image this year, but it had to be done( family insisted)

Over the New Year break I've since done the Bookshelves one.
I like to mix up the subject matter and so will undertake either Animals in the Snow, or Marseille next - whichever arrives first from ebay. Equally excited about both!

It was my plan to start this tradition this year too. But I didn’t like this years and found one I really did like in Home Bargains for £4. So I amended it slightly to ‘a Christmas jigsaw’ rather than specifically the Ravensbuger one Grin

Nancywhisky that bookshelf one is lovely!

I’m liking the bookshelf one too. In fact I’ve just been and found it online. I shouldn’t. I really shouldn’t. I need to step away - I’m back at school tomorrow and won’t have time... be strong...!!

Me too!

Last puzzle of the Christmas holiday finished..puzzle board out away (it may come out again dependant on the weather/lockdown/boredom).

Was a nice "vintage toy shop" puzzle from The Works, not the best quality but 1000pieces for £7 is a bargain. I have one more left to do then I'm completely out of puzzle material, although time does become rather limited once I'm back at work..

That's a nice one hellodoris. The works often have a good selection and the quality is fair to middling. Not the best but good enough.

Finished the Dalmatian jigsaw, it was fun!

Samcro · 04/01/2021 14:33

Hellodoris, i have done that one, it was fun.

Just starting my Christmas present, a peaky blinders one.

mogtheexcellent · 04/01/2021 14:39

Just finished my purchase from the Christmas bargain thread (wasn't a bargain but lovely as a gift).

Only DD6 insisted on helping me. Hmm

And I now a piece missing. Angry

On the plus side my village jigsaw library is open with appropriate covid rules so I'm off to pick up a new jigsaw on my dog walk.

icebearforpresident · 04/01/2021 15:06

I feel your pain @mogtheexcellent. I was given a 1000 piece puzzle last Christmas. I left it sitting on the table with to start a few days after Christmas and my 5 year old decided she wanted to start it herself and opened it up and tipped it into a huge box of loose Lego. By the time I actually finished it I was missing 8 pieces.

Luckily it was a bit chocolate boxy for me so missing 8 bits didn’t bother me all that much.

TheDuchessOfAquitaine · 04/01/2021 17:09

@InMySpareTime - that looks brilliant (and tricky!) how many pieces? I’m quite tempted. My kids are obsessed with dalmations so would love if I got that one (although they are too young to be helpful!)

InMySpareTime · 04/01/2021 17:25

529 pieces, but the jigsaw is the same both sides (rotated 90 degrees on reverse) so it's harder than it looks!

TheDogsMother · 04/01/2021 17:31

@babybythesea I'm struggling a bit with it as a first jigsaw because there is a lot of white and a lot of pale dogs. I am determined to complete it though. Love the look of The Tree of Life one you were looking at.

nancywhisky · 04/01/2021 17:34

Actually I forgot it was still a bank holiday here today and I have started Animals in the Snow. I feel like I have stolen a day! :)

Picture of Streets of Cuba - just demolished it as it was taking up valuable back-to-work space.

Mulling over another.

ooohhh, that's nice!

JaquelineBeanstalk · 04/01/2021 20:29

Funny story. I had to self isolate in October, and a neighbour lent me a jigsaw to keep me occupied. When I finished it there was a piece missing- I blamed my dogs, who adopt a proprietorial attitude to anything that falls on the floor. I apologised to my neighbour, but they were very understanding, and weren’t wanting the jigsaw back.

I’ve just moved the air fryer in the kitchen ( searching fir a missing Lego piece) and found.........the lost jigsaw piece!

SourMilkGhyll · 04/01/2021 22:26

Too much white and blue!
