It's iconic but I've never watched them all, not sure why, but have just seen occasional episodes.

In need of some light relief, I thought I'd have a go at watching them from the beginning. I only made it half way through the first episode.

Even if you leave aside the casual racism and sexism that was of its time, the Del Boy/Rodney relationship is abusive, not funny, isn't it?

Don't think thread has quite gone way OP wanted

Has anyone mentioned the chandelier episode yet?

I love OFAH. Full on belly laugh at most of them. There is a funny clip going round at the moment that is quite fitting for our current predicament...

Love it, great comedy, brilliantly written.

Yes to Trig’s broom and Trig in general. Dh and I always say ‘all right Dave’ when we see Roger Lloyd Pack (RIP) on TV.

No one ever talks about the episode where Rodney dates a titled upper class woman and Del messes it up for him.

The chandelier of course.

When they paint the Chinese restaurant in luminous paint

bendmeoverbackwards · 21/12/2020 22:25

Oh and the gold chain episode was genius.

bendmeoverbackwards · 21/12/2020 22:29

@confusedbeyond

I love the episode where Rodney applies for (unbeknownst to him) his own job.

Del realises it's Rodney on the phone and when he presses Rodney, Rodney says "I haven't got a brother". Dels face just cracks me up.

Yes brilliant!
boymum9 · 21/12/2020 22:43

I love it, still one of my favourite things to watch and was when I was a child too, it's also my brothers favourite tv show and he's only 20! It'll never not be hilarious to me.

IRememberMySpaceBabe · 21/12/2020 22:53

Also love where Del is in hospital after having stomach pains, wearing his bright lime green robe scoffing sneaked-in bacon sandwiches and Bacardi and coke.

@BackforGood

What TriflePudding said on P1.

You clearly haven't watched enough to grasp the relationship between Del and Rodney.
You are also ridiculous to dissect a programme made in a different time and apply today's political sensitivities to it.

Apart from all of that, it is an incredibly funny programme that managed to remain funny over several series, which not that many programmes do.

This

I love it. Uncle Albert was a better character than Grandad though

So many hilarious episodes

MadameBlobby · 21/12/2020 23:04

@SantasBritchesSpelleas

More funniest moments:
  • in Miami Twice where Rodney collars Del's lookalike, the Mafia boss and starts bollocking him about Cassandra and 'the bank's conference in Eastbourne'.
  • When they accidentally trap a French bloke in Denzil's lorry and try to pass him off to Raquel as their mate 'Gary' from the pub, but he then replies 'Gary' to everything Raquel says.
The e-fit of Rodney🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Bbq1 · 21/12/2020 23:04

Fawlty Towers is hilarious too but when watching you have to remember that it's of it's time. They wouldn't get away with a quarter of the material used in FT nowadays.

MadameBlobby · 21/12/2020 23:08

@formerbabe

Quite a sad, dark episode is A Royal Flush where Rodney starts seeing an aristocratic woman...Del gate crashes a posh dinner Rodney is invited to and really embarrasses him. Del then accepts money from the girls dad to keep Rodney out of her life
The one I really don’t like is the one with the pregnant German au pair, and Del Boy trying to get her to give away her baby to Marlene and Boycie. Cruel and using Marlene’s infertility and desperation is horrible. I know Del gets his comeuppance but - not nice.
MadameBlobby · 21/12/2020 23:11

@OnlyFoolsnMothers

I really rate grandads funeral episode- outstanding writing, so sad but still those comedy moments

Least fav episode is video nasty- I still don’t quite understand it.

Apparently that was the first time in British TV they’d had to write in a death because the actor had died. The tears were real.
MadameBlobby · 21/12/2020 23:13

I also didn’t like how in the last episodes we were supposed to believe lovely Mike was in prison hence Sid running the pub. Obv they had to write him out but it didn’t seem plausible.

MadameBlobby · 21/12/2020 23:14

The wedding one where Del took a beating off the Driscoll brothers so as not to let Rodney down with the flat deposit 😞💙

Therealjudgejudy · 21/12/2020 23:16

OFAH is comedy genius. If you dont like it, dont watch it.

Are you this precious about everything??Hmm

formerbabe · 21/12/2020 23:18

I'm gonna find a little bloke, I'm gonna have a fight...

Crinkle77 · 21/12/2020 23:28

OFAH was bloody brilliant and still is. I'm fact there was a documentary on ch 5 tonight about David Jason. Porridge is another one that's still funny today.

This thread inspired us to start watching from the beginning, all been belly laughing at least once per episode.

ClaireP20 · 21/12/2020 23:43

It's an absolutely brilliant sitcom.

Have a glass of pina colada and chill out..m
