... whilst waiting to see if the kids are or are not going to school next week and walking with imaginary cows.

Hello all. Trying to avoid news apart from lifestyle sections at the moment as Brexit and Covid depressing me too much!

Had lunch out at a little local family owned Italian today - we were their only customers and I felt awful for them. Massively over ordered to try and make it worthwhile for them but it must have been a drop in the ocean.

SirSamuelVimes · 13/12/2020 20:53

I have massively cut my media consumption. Try v v hard to keep away from the Corona threads on here. Far too damaging for my MH.

MercyBooth · 13/12/2020 20:54

Agreed Flowers

flower11 · 13/12/2020 21:51

MercyBooth yes she drew it in the sand.

There has been much chatter on the class WhatsApp group today, we are now waiting on test results for a child in dd class, several parents are taking their children out. Anyway We have now decided that Tuesday will be their last day in school so my parents can come to stay.

NeedWineNow · 13/12/2020 22:41

I'm going to duck out of MSM and SM for a while as well. I'm feeling overwhelmed with everything like I was at the start of March. Talk of further lockdown, cases rising, higher tiers, I really can't stand it. I'll dip in and out of you guys, but I've got to do this for my own health.

smallandimperfectlyformed · 13/12/2020 22:45

@NeedWineNow I can understand that. Right now feels bleak, I previously removed myself from all social media etc and just played games on my phone like a child as a distraction. Times are hard but I do truly believe things will get better. Take care of yourself Flowers

MercyBooth · 13/12/2020 22:50

@NeedWineNow I TOTALLY get it. Take care Flowers

justasking111 · 13/12/2020 23:03

I pop in here and the Wales thread, peek at other bits occasionally, otherwise my bank statement reads Amazon,, amazon.. amazon Blush My kindle is my lifesaver. That and netflix, prime and Disney, I avoid much else pouring out of the tv.

BogRollBOGOF · 13/12/2020 23:11

A big hug to all who need one.
I feel like I've exhausted all I can say and just repeat around the same thoughts again and again.
If you're struggling, you're not alone Flowers

AcornAutumn · 13/12/2020 23:35

Big hugs from me too

You’ve all really helped me so I hope I can say something helpful at some point, always happy to listen.

Jordain glad you’re home

Picadilly one of my friends had a nocturnal baby. She ended up sleeping in the day and watching lots of crime drama with the baby at night, we all joke about what kind of person a baby raised on Romanzo Criminale will be like 😂

AcornAutumn · 13/12/2020 23:38

PS if anyone is up, there’s meant to be meteor showers tonight in the southeast sky

My flat faces the wrong way so I’ve got no chance to see them unless I can be bothered to go outside to see...

wanderings · 14/12/2020 06:26

In other news, I think Greta has joined Mumsnet; someone has decided to shake the dust off her puppet strings, and make her dance again. The climate change threads are resurfacing; either that, or the dementors are terrified the plandemic (oops, pandemic) might be over by Easter, and they need something else to polish their haloes about.

WouldBeGood · 14/12/2020 06:41

@wanderings this climate change thing is weird. Wholly abandoned as we must use plastic gloves/masks/aprons/single use cutlery etc etc, cos, Covid.

Yet now it’s Boris’ new “thing” ? Interesting that it’s popping up here too. Another distraction?

DominaShantotto · 14/12/2020 07:32

I'm just sitting spending all day playing animal crossing at the moment - I'm not functioning at all well - been awake since 4am.

ISaySteadyOn · 14/12/2020 08:18

Snap, Domina. Except it's Stardew Valley for me.

Goood grief.

I cba to find a Peppermint Patty gif.

There’s actual sun! I wonder if it will last for my lunch break walk?!

NeedWineNow · 14/12/2020 09:41

Thanks all.

Seriouslymole · 14/12/2020 10:40

I'd be glad of the focus to go back to the environment frankly. The fear mongering from Covid is just tedious now.

I'm getting so fed up with the constant calls for further lockdown and schools to shut. I will be glad when we hit Thursday and they are shut. Perhaps I can relax for 2 weeks.

JamSarnie · 14/12/2020 10:44

It is semi amusing that there is so much appetite with some people to berate others over anything. I had noticed the environment threads kicking off again Grin

DominaShantotto · 14/12/2020 10:46

Well in order to lift my spirits - today I have to cover dementia, Parkinson's, motor neurone disease and Huntington's. Actually the lady doing the lecture is very engaging and very witty and the comment that "none of us are getting off this planet alive" brings everyone back down to earth!

Iheartmysmart · 14/12/2020 10:50

Don’t count on the sun Acorn! I took my dog for a walk in beautiful sunshine about an hour ago and we just returned in torrential rain. Now sat in front of my laptop in a pink onesie with a hot chocolate to warm up. And I’m not changing for yet another infernal teams meeting in a minute.

DominaShantotto · 14/12/2020 11:30

Any lecturer who manages to include gratuitous Terry Pratchett references throughout makes a really grim subject bearable.

wanderings · 14/12/2020 11:38

Other environment hypocrisy was that we were suddenly told to avoid public transport, buses are made to carry far fewer people than usual, and users of work vehicles were told to use separate vehicles as much as possible, all 'cos Covid. The waste, the pollution!

Gratuitous?! Pratchett references are a necessity!
DominaShantotto · 14/12/2020 11:55

DH now working from home till March at least - I don't think they'll get them back into the office this year (he's happy with this and I save a bomb on childcare - although that's going into chasing private assessments for DD2 at the moment).

I can't focus today.
