Help with stupidly hard quiz

Each year my work does a stupidly hard quiz. There are many stages and we get a month to try and do it.

Anyone help me with this stage? there are 21 pictures of celebrities and I've managed to work out who they all are but now I'm stuck on working out the password to the next stage. Each picture has a coloured Roman numeral in it so I assume I have to use those to work out the answer...

Tried taking words or letters but still no clearer to me!

There's a link between the four answers - might help narrowing down the possibilities for the other answers. It's all a bit Only Connect...

Oh I think I have it!

Try rearranging the letters you have to link with the theme.

I've still only solved the first and third clues for 'what I did for love'.

I have written many words and phrases for the others but none have triggered a solution to pop into my head. I can see a link between the two I have solved but again this has not triggered anything for the second and fourth.

Does anyone have a tiny hint for either the second or fourth? Please don't just tell me the answers as I want to work through it myself but I need a sniff of a hint.

The clues form a set of four. You say you've got a link between the two you've solved - does that suggest two keywords for the other two? The clues are well-known examples, so with the keywords you should be able to Google/guess.

I think the link is earth / world. But I can't get the w's and e's in the other clues to mean world or earth.

2 mins later ....I got the second one!!!!!! But not exactly earth / world. I had worked out 'but I was just a kid' but it didn't click for the full answer and google didn't help me.

Now just need to figure out the last clue and then how to get the answer.

Ok 4th clue solved. Am almost there. Can see a link between them. But taking the 5th 10th etc letter and words doesn't give me a word or phrase to solve 'what I did for love'

Am so much closer than I was 30 minutes ago... and yet still as far from solving it as before.....
