Help with stupidly hard quiz

709 replies

ApocalypseNowt · 01/12/2020 11:29

Each year my work does a stupidly hard quiz. There are many stages and we get a month to try and do it.

Anyone help me with this stage? there are 21 pictures of celebrities and I've managed to work out who they all are but now I'm stuck on working out the password to the next stage. Each picture has a coloured Roman numeral in it so I assume I have to use those to work out the answer...

It's Farrah Fawcett, not Farah.

That's all I've got 😂

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 01/12/2020 12:33

I've got:

Yellow = onymous

Red = just a jumble (JOTTVY)

Blue = tout

Dark blue = Dr

White = N

But I'm probably stretching!

blarbra · 01/12/2020 12:38

I'm similar @PolkadotsAndMoonbeams

IsThisNameTaken · 01/12/2020 12:41

Strange that there's on 2 dark blue and 1 white - which come out as DR (short for doctor maybe?) and N. I'm stuck!

petrocellihouse · 01/12/2020 12:43

all of the celebrities have names that start with the same letter... so first name and surname are the same (eg Priscilla Presley... Will Wheaton etc).... does that have any relevance? And yes... clutching at straws here!

SoupDragon · 01/12/2020 12:44

Yellow = onymous

I've got OPSNUOEM which seems to be an anagram of PUN MOOSE 😂

blarbra · 01/12/2020 12:44

@petrocellihouse OMG HOW did I not see that!!?

blarbra · 01/12/2020 12:49

Letters missing are I Q X Y

JUST writing it down Incase it's useful

titchy · 01/12/2020 12:50

@SoupDragon

Yellow = onymous

I've got OPSNUOEM which seems to be an anagram of PUN MOOSE 😂

I got the same but rearranged to 'open sumo'....
petrocellihouse · 01/12/2020 13:05

@blarbra U is also missing... so IQUXY. Still doesn't make any sense. Yet. Smile

Bluetrews25 · 01/12/2020 13:08

What happens if you take just the first letter, but put them in order according to roman numerals and have three words according to colour?

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 01/12/2020 13:09

I tried removing the double letters from colour groups, but that doesn't seem to help.

Good idea about letters left unused!

Bluetrews25 · 01/12/2020 13:10

OK, scrap that, thought there would be a 1, 2, 3 etc for each colour. (need to read more carefully, I know)

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 01/12/2020 13:12

I might have miscounted! I'm half tempted to set my own spreadsheet up...

Bluetrews25 · 01/12/2020 13:15

OP, you'd better give us the answer at some point! Please don't let this be an ironing board!

IsThisNameTaken · 01/12/2020 13:17

Are the dark blue and blue definitely different - or are they just different shades because of the colour of the picture they're on? If you combine them together you get ROUTED.
Not that it helps in the grand scheme of things really .....!

CorianderQueen · 01/12/2020 13:22

Double check your name spellings

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 01/12/2020 13:22

Or TOURED or DETOUR.

It's the reds that are getting me. There's some funny letters in there!

CorianderQueen · 01/12/2020 13:22

Oh and it's Kourtney Kardashian not Kim

petrocellihouse · 01/12/2020 13:24

is there any indication on what form the answer might be? ie number of letters, or a phrase?

CorianderQueen · 01/12/2020 13:26

So blue III is U not M

orangenasturtium · 01/12/2020 13:28

I did the same as PolkadotsAndMoonbeams but I think petrocellihouse is on to something. Maybe it is the letter that both names start with that is significant?

blarbra · 01/12/2020 13:30

I know he is known as WIL but could they be using his full name??? William? 🤔

PurpleDaisies · 01/12/2020 13:32

@blarbra

I know he is known as WIL but could they be using his full name??? William? 🤔
His first name is actually Richard if you’re going down that route!
ThereIsNoSuchThingAsRoadTax · 01/12/2020 13:33

So if you take the letters from each name indicated by the roman numeral, then put them in alphabetical order of the names, you get (I think):
tomoveonjusttyperound
The first bit doesn't make sense, but three words at the end (just type round) seems like a big coincidence if this isn't part way to the solution...
