Sat on DS2s floor waiting for him to go to sleep and thinking of the chippy tea I'll be having shortly but can't decide what I want. Inspire me with your favourites!

OP posts:

Fish, chips, mushy peas, gravy and curry sauce. Washed down with a mug of tea.

LibertyLue · 24/11/2020 21:45

Fish supper with salt and loads of chippy sauce, with a bottle of red cola. Memories of childhood right there.
I was vaguely horrified by a friend in N.Ireland telling me about their pastie supper once. I googled it... the pinkness.... why is it so pink? 😳

HammerToFall · 24/11/2020 21:46

@deadbod your user name and the Pattie are too much of a giveaway Wink

fastandthecurious · 24/11/2020 21:52

Chips curry sauce and a sausage.
Loads of chippys where I live do Chinese stuff too so I have chips curry sauce and fried rice usually!

Baldrickneepheid · 24/11/2020 21:55

LindaEllen · 24/11/2020 22:01

Jumbo sausage, chips (with loads of salt and vinegar) and a buttered barm. Lovely!

DixieLandReject · 24/11/2020 22:03

Lightly battered cod, chips, peas and a can of d&b

DeadBod · 24/11/2020 22:05

@HammerToFall taste of home Wink

DesMartinsPetCat · 24/11/2020 22:36

Quarter pounder with extra cheese and extra pink sauce, chips with garlic mayo and stuffing.

MinnieAnonyMouse · 24/11/2020 22:41

Battered haddock, well done chips, loads of scraps, salt, curry sauce, sliced white bread and butter all washed down with gallons of piping hot strong Yorkshire tea. Sadly just had stomach surgery and can just about manage a cup of soup

yummymushypeas · 24/11/2020 22:47

@DeadBod - I read this thread just to see if anyone said pattie and chips. I've been away from East Yorkshire for a long time but still dream about a pattie butty and chips. Triple carbs. You can tell from username how much I love a chippy tea!

What's a pattie please?

PenguinsOnParade · 24/11/2020 22:50

Depends on the mood I'm in. Chips and cheese for something smaller or I'll have a sausage supper or king rib supper. Sometimes a pizza crunch if I'm in the mood but usually a single is enough for that rather than the supper. I had a deep fried Mars bar for the first time in ages last week but it was really disappointing as it had started to cool down and you really need to eat them when they're wickedly hot.

catwithflowers · 24/11/2020 22:56

@ohmahgah

Cod & chips, a buttered stottie, and way too much 'proper' vinegar!
Living in the north east by any chance? 🤣🤣. Love a stottie! Might have to pop by Greggs tomorrow now that thought is in my head 🙈
PigletJohn · 24/11/2020 22:59

Usually cod, chips and a Wally.

Today I fancy steak pie, chips and gravy

But for a good pie, an Australian one. Not an English pie made of snouts and feet.

yummymushypeas · 24/11/2020 23:02

@WitchDancer it's mashed potato and sage, battered and deep fried. A speciality of Hull and the seaside resorts of East Yorkshire. Frequently accompanied by chip spice. A mixture of paprika, salt and msg.

Thermo · 24/11/2020 23:04

I actually like a steak pie supper , and potato fritters
Lilt as well thanks

LadyCatStark · 24/11/2020 23:06

DS(11) and I: a battered haddock each, half a chips each and half a large mushy peas each.

DH: steak and kidney pudding, chips and curry sauce. I swap one end of my fish for a bit of DH’s curry sauce for my chips.

iklboogeymum · 24/11/2020 23:12

Holland's steak pudding, chips & gravy - loads of vinegar

Or

Chips, gravy & a buttered barm, loads of vinegar

Or

Steak dinner with mushrooms, onions, chips & gravy

You need to let your son start having a proper meal. That’s child cruelty right there.
longcoffeebreak · 24/11/2020 23:48

Pickled eggs, mushy peas and chips

Titsywoo · 24/11/2020 23:53

I'm not keen on white fish so never really have battered fish but I love a chip butty. The best chippie chips I have had were oop north (somewhere in Wakefield) - amazing with the gravy, not quite the same as the stuff we get down here.

littlealexhorne · 24/11/2020 23:56

I switch between either chicken nuggets and chips or haddock and chips - more often nuggets though probably, you can't beat chippie nuggets!!!

elp30 · 25/11/2020 00:00

Why, oh why did I click on this thread?!

I live in the US and a chippy is nowhere to be found. 😭

I soo want to have a proper fish supper with tons of salt & vinegar; chips and curry sauce; a spam fritter, a battered sausage...

I want it all! 🥺😖😢

lakesidewinter · 25/11/2020 00:03

I'm also in the USA 😭
But I love haggis in Scotland and Haddock in Yorkshire.
I could so eat a supper!
