Another thousand posts filled and we're ploughing on through another weekend of squelching through parks before we hit the Long Dark Teatime of the Soul.

The AD chat continues...

They were asked when things would return to some semblance of normal. They said Easter. I dont believe them.

The rollout of Track and Trace was a farce.

MaudesMum · 23/11/2020 20:54

There are three things I'd booked to do next Friday and Saturday, and until they announce who's in which tier, I can only be sure about one of them. Haircut is definitely on, trip to theatre (in a city with quite high cases) fairly unlikely, meal with family members (who I don't live with), will depend. I'm in a West Country county which has been fairly low and is now creeping up, and I think it depends how tough the Government has decided to be. Sigh. Still in a much better place than someone running a theatre, rehearsing for a Christmas show, who now has to wait until Thursday to find out if they can actually put the show on.

They really dont care about what the uncertainty is doing to peoples mental health.

I have a few things in December I am just desperate to do, and one of them is a haircut.

Also, our local theatre has a show on over Christmas that I would be booking now if it was a normal year.. But how do I know I won’t just waste my money yet again? (It seems I’m quite good at getting guilt tripped into not asking for a refund to things). I keep thinking about the actors and all the people who will have worked on this show for ages and won’t know until the last minute if they go ahead. We’ll likely be Tier 2 which means that at any moment we can just be downgraded.. How is the theatre supposed to survive this? How can anyone plan a life like this?

Add to it of course that we have no idea if we’ll be spending Christmas week driving round the country trying to see as many relatives as possible.

The ridiculous thing is, we normally spend Christmas at home just the 4 of us but because we haven’t seen families since the summer now and probably won’t until spring it seems like this is our only chance.... All probably the opposite of what would be sensible..

AcornAutumn · 23/11/2020 21:49

Does Tier 2 instead of Tier 3 enable the government to save money in sone way? It would be easier for theatre to just know that they need to be closed?

AcornAutumn · 23/11/2020 21:50

Well, “need” as legally, not medically!

Just to say, little Piccadilly is here, she is tiny and very cute. Did end up arriving by C-section but that was the best thing for her so it's fine.

NannyGythaOgg · 23/11/2020 21:59

On a Turkish FB site.

The reason the Turkish figures are so bad (according to some english living there) is because the bad english people there are telling them to disobey the laws because Covid doesn't really exist. (The arrogance to think the the very small % of English speakers over there have that much effect is mind blowing). Strangely, their figures were pretty good over the summer, when they had loads of tourists,
including many Brits.

Maybe, just maybe it a virus doing what viruses do.

Congratulations @110APicadilly. Hope you're both well xxx Flowers

Had a nice evening flocking down to The Range to buy superflouous Christmas stuff. I now have white lights for prematurely decorating the house (last years are missing Hmm ) and an extra Christmas Tree because the old one is getting rather full.
Bogrolls are old hat. I'm buying up the mince pies and stollen now Grin
