Another thousand posts filled and we're ploughing on through another weekend of squelching through parks before we hit the Long Dark Teatime of the Soul.

The AD chat continues...

Ahhh the relief of finding another thread of sanity!! Xx

@110APiccadilly. I've 3 c sections (one emergency, 2 elective). Honestly they are ok. I didn't want one before ds but in the (unlikely) event of having another I would be fine having a forth (probably wouldn't get much choice in matter to be fairGrin)

TheOrchidKiller · 22/11/2020 18:20

@ProfessorRadcliffeEmerson
I had a baby on my due date! Apparently, only 2% of babies arrive "on time".

LadyOfTheImprovisedBath · 22/11/2020 18:28

@110APiccadilly

I wish I could be walking up and down stairs, but we're well within the "cascade of interventions" now, I fear - having a canula put in for the drip in a minute. It has to be what it has to be, but I'm now terrified it's going to end in a C-section.
Fingers crossed for you but most of my "Mum" friends who had c-sections or have experinced none-c and c-section births say same as Littlebelina c-setion and recovery wasn't as bad as they feared and they'd opt for it again.
WouldBeGood · 22/11/2020 18:29

Checking and also watching Strictly from last night

MargosKaftan · 22/11/2020 18:30

Hello again!

Had a c section and not all that bad!

WouldBeGood · 22/11/2020 18:35

@110APiccadilly I understand. I was bricking it for a section but with hindsight it would have been much better for me and DS than the eventual ventouse. I’m way too old now but I’d choose a section every time!

Wishing you luck and can’t wait to hear about baby Piccadilly 😊

ISaySteadyOn · 22/11/2020 18:35

I had a C section with DS. They're not so bad. I thought it would be but it wasn't. And the recovery wasn't too bad either.

110APiccadilly · 22/11/2020 18:36

Thanks guys. I came into this with very few ideas about having my ideal birth or anything like that (because enough of my friends have had babies for me to know that's not even guaranteed!) C-section was the only thing I was really scared of, and it is encouraging to hear people say it's not that bad!

110APiccadilly · 22/11/2020 18:36

*ever guaranteed, not even!

WouldBeGood · 22/11/2020 18:39

I was going to be a serene yoga hypnobirther .... 😂😂

MercyBooth · 22/11/2020 18:40

How are the strict rules for vaccination passports papers etc going to work with poorer people who cant do a lot of those things anyway.

Good luck! Dd2 was delivered in the parking lot of the hospital. The words by DH on the morning "you've been complaining of backache for 9 months now, you're fine" followed by "well, I spoke to the midwife and she says you sound fine, speaking etc" will not be lived down.

Dd1 was induced. It wasn't so bad once I got the epidural. :-)

@Reedwarbler
I'm sorry to hear what's been happening with your FIL - it is surreal and I can't even imagine what your DH must be doing through

RobinHobb · 22/11/2020 18:49

Also the words: "you're not having this baby on fucking junction 11 of the M25"
"It's not like I can just keep it in DH"

What fun.
Hope it's all going well. My friend just had twins by cs and said it was so much better than a vaginal birth..: she'd do that again. I hope all is ok and looking forward to hearing about baby Piccadilly

WouldBeGood · 22/11/2020 18:52

@RobinHobb 😂 to keeping it in

110APiccadilly · 22/11/2020 18:57

I'm still hoping for a successful induction, but what will be will be - you have all calmed me down a bit about the possibility of a C-section! Think this is the moment when I could really do with DH (but we are of course some way off the bit where he's allowed in).

I need to remember that some people just type without thinking, and I need to not take it seriously...

Meanwhile, for Piccadilly...

🎤hey, hey baby
I wanna know oh oh oh
If you’ll be here soon

When I heard about you on the boards
I thought, a December baby for sure

She’ll be a cutie, in hats and more
Knitted booties are baby law..

Heeeeey, hey baby🎤

Reedwarbler · 22/11/2020 19:12

Thank you @RobinHobb they have operated on him again this afternoon and he is still in recovery but struggling a bit.

I had drip, epidural and eventually forceps with DS. Typical "cascade of interventions" but he and I were both absolutely fine and epidurals are bloody amazing if you want one!

Good luck and hopefully everything will progress quickly from this point.

Littlebelina · 22/11/2020 19:20

Second rosettes that epidurals are great

BogRollBOGOF · 22/11/2020 19:31

If I was going through it all again, I'd probably go ELCS. My options are open either way medically.

I recommend being hands and knees over a birthing ball. DS2 was a VBAC so I needed monitoring and that was a comfortable position despite my trashed pelvis. It's my pelvis that would put me off giving nature a chance again. The actual EMCS with DS1 was fine. A spinal block was bliss after months of pain from SPD!

I was all up for an epidural if I got tired and immobile, but DS2 got a wriggle on. He was a due date baby. There's a few of us in the family. About the only time we ever do turn up on time Grin

@Reedwarbler Flowers Im sorry he is going through all that.

Did anyone see the news about what happened in Basildon yesterday?

Justgivemewine · 22/11/2020 20:27

Ooo good luck @110APiccadilly. Hope it all goes well from here whichever way babyPiccadilly decides to come out 😁

Sonicthehedgehogg · 22/11/2020 20:33

Checking in. Keep me sane ADs.

rosettesforjill · 22/11/2020 20:34

To add, I had a hippy home birth 4.5 years after my hospital birth with all the interventions so subsequent labours can be very different! DD was delivered by paramedics (who arrived with seconds to spare after community midwives got called to another home birth while we were waiting for me to get to a point where I needed them) so it was dramatic in a different way!
