Another thousand posts filled and we're ploughing on through another weekend of squelching through parks before we hit the Long Dark Teatime of the Soul.

Our first AD baby!

MercyBooth · 23/11/2020 22:54

Wasnt sure about posting this but here goes. Mass testing will be taken to areas that are going into tier 3. How likely are they to throw up false positives? Christmas lockdown by the back door?

amicissimma · 23/11/2020 22:57

Congratulations, @110APiccadilly!

MagdaS · 23/11/2020 22:57

MercyBooth · 23/11/2020 23:11

Just on Newsnight Over EIGHTY % of people who have applied for financial help to isolate are being told NO! Report from Liverpool that mass testing is not going well And this is why.

Its not ppl breaking rules that a lot of those Over There like to believe.

@110APiccadilly

Just to say, little Piccadilly is here, she is tiny and very cute. Did end up arriving by C-section but that was the best thing for her so it's fine.
Lovely news. Congratulations Piccadilly (and Mr P) welcome to the ADs club baby Piccadilly. 💐🍾🥂
110APiccadilly · 24/11/2020 03:05

Thanks all. Yes, first baby. Thanks to everyone who reassured me about C-sections not being as bad as I'd maybe feared. It was a bit overwhelming, but I'm mostly just happy she's healthy.

Ward went against the Covid guidelines and let DH in for pretty much the whole thing from the start of induction, thank goodness. I don't know how on earth I'd have coped with the very painful 6 hours to get to 4cm dilated if they'd stuck to that rule - I think it's utterly inhumane. They also let him stay for a good long time after, though now he's off, he can't come back except to pick us up and bring us home. But it could have been so much worse if they'd rigidly stuck to the guidelines.

WouldBeGood · 24/11/2020 06:33

@110APiccadilly that’s nice to hear. Glad they weren’t crazy strict. Hope you get home soon to enjoy/be exhausted by your new arrival!

Iheartmysmart · 24/11/2020 07:02

Congratulations @110APiccadilly that is such lovely news Flowers I’m glad you are both safe and well. Don’t forget to take it easy, you’ve had major surgery and need to rest as much as possible. Something that is all too easily forgotten when you have a tiny baby to care for.

Congratulations @110APiccadily I'm so glad it all went ok. Make sure you look after yourself as well.

I'm expecting my santa experience to be cancelled. It's booked for the 5th. Clearly there are no spaces to move it further on. I'm doubtful we'll be anything other than tier 3 which is basically lockdown under another name but with more shops.

HeadSpin5 · 24/11/2020 07:31

Lovely news Picadilly, congratulations to you both!

Morning all. Sorry I am going to dampen the mood now. I am so sad. My friend died yesterday. He was 70. He had literally just retired from work (I used to work with him and the entire time we joked he'd retire next Christmas and he never did) well I left and he saw his opportunity took a big redundancy and left. Collapsed and admitted to hospital that weekend. Recovered, about to be discharged. Then for a random blood clot that instantly killed him.

I feel like a massive hypocrite saying "only 70" but he was an entirely healthy man. He had so many plans. He was booking an all round the world cruise with his lovely wife, as an apology for putting his retirement off for so long. They were moving house, they were considering France. I am so, so sad for him and I am so angry that he spent his last month's living like this. I am so angry that we are all wasting our lives living like this when realistically we might never retire. We might never get that time again. Only a 6 months, only a year, only two years my fucking arse. Sad

ISaySteadyOn · 24/11/2020 07:48

Congratulations, @110APiccadilly!

ISaySteadyOn · 24/11/2020 07:51

@TrustTheGeneGenie, I am sorry to hear about your friend. Everything you say is true.

WouldBeGood · 24/11/2020 07:59

@TrustTheGeneGenie so sorry. What a shame.

I think all of us on this thread have been aware of the ephemeral nature of life and the need to live our whist you can. Another reminder there.

You must feel pretty shaken. Be kind to yourself today. And keep checking in if you like. Today shows ADs are here for life and death 💐
