Be honest. Is your tree up?

My street is lit up with decorations and has been for almost 2 weeks now - it's incredible what a handful of houses can do to LIGHT UP THE ENTIRE STREET. Ok, it's a short street, but still.

Three houses have Christmas trees, as far as I can see.

Someone I went to school with has posted photos of her FIVE Christmas trees on Facebook this evening - the woman lives in a bloody flat! I don't know where they're all going.

It's not just me holding out, is it? Hmm

Half is up - kitchen and conservatory trees.

Living room tree, hall way and dining room trees next weekend

Outdoor decs probably weekend after. It all takes a while so I split the weekends they go up.

This is the earliest I’ve ever gone, neighbours will be tutting at me for bringing the house prices down Grin

nosswith · 22/11/2020 18:21

It's not just you. Advent Sunday is next Sunday and we wait until then.

MillieVanilla · 22/11/2020 18:22

I'm ashamed to say that yes, our tree is up.
I've not put the outside lights up yet or the wreath but I will do
I was just thoroughly bored yesterday, the pub where I usually am.on Saturday doing the disco is shut and it was too early for wine so up the tree went.
I usually wait until the second week of December. It feels necessary

Yes
We put it up today. This is the earliest we have ever put the tree up and I think it’s because it has been such a shit year

VinylDetective · 22/11/2020 18:33

Ours goes up the Saturday before Christmas. This year will be no different.

IceCreamAndCandyfloss · 22/11/2020 18:42

No, it’s November. It will go up a week before Christmas.

I enjoy shopping beforehand but don’t see the point in decorating until it’s actually the festive period. It must be such an anti climax if done so far in advance and feel like forever until Santa comes for little ones.

InFiveMins · 22/11/2020 18:45

No but I have put some fairy lights on my balcony. Nearly all of my family have their trees up already. I am holding out until December for that, but think, each to their own. I don't think it's too early anymore - think we are only 4 weekends away from Christmas Day!

lonelySam · 22/11/2020 18:48

No. First weekend of December is the tree weekend for us.

L4uz · 22/11/2020 18:54

Yes... it's up in the bloody loft where it belongs for another two weeks!

missmouse101 · 22/11/2020 18:58

No it is not.Hmm Is it December yet? No.

bluerad · 22/11/2020 18:59

@Pluckedpencil

Am I the only one enjoying the view of *@madcow88*'s DH more than the Christmas tree Grin
Me too. It's sums up sorting the tree out - cleaning the sitting room, moving the furniture, getting it level usually involves one of us on the floor and one of us (me) directing operations! Then we have the trauma of untangling the lights and it takes an age to decorate. Involves sherry - buckets of it.
BiddyPop · 23/11/2020 08:55

One sibling has put their tree up. And there are lots up locally.

I was going to get the first few winters bits over the weekend but never got to the storage unit for them. I don’t know if I will get them out this week now or next. Tree will be waiting until DH is happy to do it - cos I’m planning on putting up 2.

Mydogisagentleman · 23/11/2020 09:01

Our own one is still in the loft and will stay there until DD comes home from university.
Today I have been asked to put the work one up.
I support a woman with a learning disability and she’s has been asking since august.
Aren’t I a lucky ducky 😕

JumpingJamboree · 23/11/2020 09:07

My little hallway one has been up for about 2 weeks now. Big living room one is yet to go up. Hopefully in the next week or so.

Bluesheep8 · 23/11/2020 09:10

Ours goes up the Saturday before Christmas. This year will be no different.

Same here

LaPoesieEstDansLaRue · 23/11/2020 13:21

No. Usually put it up after my birthday in mid Dec. May do it slightly earlier this year but not before first week of Dec.

MillieVanilla · 23/11/2020 21:22

I have to say I did also somewhat put mine up in a passive aggressive style
Our opposite neighbour to put it bluntly is a miserable, moaning old twonk, and every year vocally gets the arse about our little village having lights and trees everywhere. He has actually complained at the council that it's done to deliberately offend him as he doesn't celebrate Christmas. Frankly he shouldn't bloody flatter himself, it's because we all sodding celebrate Christmas.
So he was out the other day yet again bitching and whinging that first it was Halloween and now everyone will put Christmas stuff up to offend his beliefs personally.
So I've gone bigger than ever. I've got outdoors lights, big flashy ones and my tree up and my mini real tree by the front door and my little Santa gnome. You name it I've made it look like a grotto. If I could've rustled up a fake snow machine I would've.
Because what the world we now realise needs is less self important tossers trying to ruin and stamp on stuff people enjoy in a harmless way. Life is too short to keep the outdoor lights in the attic so he doesn't knock the door to moan, I'm putting the sodding lot up and then will let the village know so they can drive past with their smaller DC's as mine are teens now so unbothered. Sod him and miserable beggars like him. We've had a shitty year, let's light the damn place up.

MrsDThomas · 24/11/2020 07:26

It went up on Saturday. And a few lights in the window.

Birdsong111 · 24/11/2020 07:33

People seem to be putting them up earlier and earlier. We will be seeing them go up in September at this rate

Redcherries · 24/11/2020 07:46

Not yet, but I love seeing others when I’m out for a walk, and I’d find it bloody hard to have an issue with people doing it early this year. Anything that lifts the spirits and helps people feel that bit better is good news imo. Who cares if it’s not December.
