Be honest. Is your tree up?

My street is lit up with decorations and has been for almost 2 weeks now - it's incredible what a handful of houses can do to LIGHT UP THE ENTIRE STREET. Ok, it's a short street, but still.

Three houses have Christmas trees, as far as I can see.

Someone I went to school with has posted photos of her FIVE Christmas trees on Facebook this evening - the woman lives in a bloody flat! I don't know where they're all going.

It's not just me holding out, is it? Hmm

Yes, DD 19 and DS15 put it up last weekend while I was at work 😊 It
looks beautiful and has saved me a lot of hassle!!

Ragwort · 20/11/2020 22:37

No - we unusually put ours up the weekend before Christmas, seems about the right time. Might put the outside lights up a little earlier this year. The Christmas lights and tree are already up in out town and I must admit they do look lovely.

Strugglingtodomybest · 20/11/2020 22:40

No, not in November, no way.

No. I have garlands round the fire places and the bannister and wreaths out, but I’ve drawn the line at putting the tree up, although I’m tempted,

firesong · 20/11/2020 22:42

Nope, not yet! I like Christmas but enjoy putting my tree up at the beginning of December

happymummy12345 · 20/11/2020 22:42

No, I'm superstitious so mine never goes up until the first weekend of December.
Well no to be completely honest it depends how the dates and days fall, my husband does shift work so never knows when he's off until last minute, but he never works Thursdays. So often we actually have to put it up the Thursday closest to the first weekend of December, but it NEVER gets turned on until the first Saturday in December. So it's up but the lights stay turned off and the shutters stay closed. And it's literally only the tree we put up because we do it together and it's the only day we know he's definitely going to be here.
My sons sign and that doesn't go up until the first weekend because I can do that without my husband.
Yes I could do it on my own but we like to do it as a family and it would feel wrong not to. So even if it's up we don't think of it or consider it as being up until the first weekend of December.

zigaziga · 20/11/2020 22:43

No. Couldn’t if I wanted to anyway because I haven’t seen anywhere selling them yet, they’d be brown twigs by Christmas.
I am listening to Christmas music and I’ve counted out Christmas cards and written the list though, I’m easing into feeling Christmassy.

Holothane · 20/11/2020 22:44

Little one in bedroom but big tree will go up the 18th of December.

Icenii · 20/11/2020 22:45

Put outside fairyights up. But some of the houses here who have put their fairy lights up outside, did so for Diwali.

SlippersForFlippers · 20/11/2020 22:45

Yes, did it this week. It'd be going up this weekend anyway so only a few days early.

Gertie75 · 20/11/2020 22:45

Yes, it's not usually up until December but it's been such a shit year I wanted something to cheer me up and it's worked.

elp30 · 20/11/2020 22:48

I'm in the US and the Friday after Thanksgiving is traditionally the start of the Christmas season. That is next week, November 27.

I buy a real tree and they aren't being sold yet so I couldn't put one up if I wanted to until next week. I am very excited though.

Mumisnotmyonlyname · 20/11/2020 22:53

18th in this house, or the last day of term.

AgeLikeWine · 20/11/2020 22:56

Of course not. There is a time and a place for Christmas. It’s called December.

madcow88 · 20/11/2020 22:56

Just bought ours today!! Need to find the decs now 😂😂 need some cheering up and light in our lives at the moment.

randomsabreuse · 20/11/2020 22:57

Nope because I have to work out where it could go and how I protect it from a marauding 2 year old that is obsessed with pine trees and shiny things and can climb into/out of playpens. Suspect it will be very short lived!

tattooedmummy1 · 20/11/2020 22:59

Ours went up tonight.

CrypticQueen · 20/11/2020 23:00

Yes - no such thing as too early in 2020!

Pinkchocolate · 20/11/2020 23:02

Mine is going up tomorrow. I absolutely love Christmas and after a shit year I’m looking forward to smiling when I see my tree and lights. I’ve never put it up in November but I’ve never had a year like this so normal things are out the window.

teenmumandsowhat · 20/11/2020 23:05

Nope! We generally leave ours till the second weekend of December. If it stays up too long it will just gather dust...

Hiccupiscal · 20/11/2020 23:08

No ffs, its still November! I don't understand this Xmas early movement- it is a SM thing?

MegaClutterSlut · 20/11/2020 23:09

Not yet, normally I put it up the first weekend of December but me and dd have talked dh into putting up tomorrow Grin

Tootsietoot · 20/11/2020 23:10

No. It's long a bloody enough in December. It's barely gone fireworks night.

Sadhoot · 20/11/2020 23:12

Where did you find such a service?! @Merename

I think this year it's a lockdown and boredom thing @Hiccupiscal

IaltagDhubh · 20/11/2020 23:30

Nope. I have to paint the kitchen first. But even if I didn’t, November is too early. I normally decorate around the second week in December. Any earlier and I’m fed up of it and itching to rip it all down by Boxing Day.

I usually get quite irate at people decorating too early, and having to listen to stupid Christmas music in shops for three months. But this year I don’t care, because I can avoid it all. It’s lovely! Turns out I’m not as Grinchy as I always believed I was. I might make lockdown a new family Christmas tradition...
