Be honest. Is your tree up?

My street is lit up with decorations and has been for almost 2 weeks now - it's incredible what a handful of houses can do to LIGHT UP THE ENTIRE STREET. Ok, it's a short street, but still.

Three houses have Christmas trees, as far as I can see.

Someone I went to school with has posted photos of her FIVE Christmas trees on Facebook this evening - the woman lives in a bloody flat! I don't know where they're all going.

It's not just me holding out, is it? Hmm

Yes, mine went up yesterday 🎄

InTheseUncertainTimes · 21/11/2020 10:44

Mine's been up for a week. I have no interest really in any notions of when one "should" do these things, and I wanted to cheer myself up a bit. It's worked. I really enjoy having the lights especially, since it gets dark so early.

Yes!
Wreath isn't yet on door and outside lighting not on yet. Will leave those until next weekend. Just nice to look at the tree with all the twinkly lights and Garland over fireplace.

40somethingJBJ · 21/11/2020 10:48

Nope, mines not up yet and won’t be for a while.

Sadhoot · 21/11/2020 12:21

As an aside, what kind of outdoor decorations do you put up? I've lived in flats previously so this is all new to me.

I will get a wreath for the front door, but I'd like some things outside as well, but want to avoid looking tacky?

Ours is going up tomorrow, why not get into the Christmas spirit if we are stuck in the house

TwoZeroTwoZero · 21/11/2020 12:43

I've seen lots of houses with their decs up and the public Xmas lights seem to have been switched on earlier than normal but no, our decs won't go up until around the 2nd week in December.

CorianderLord · 21/11/2020 14:12

Yes

Frownette · 21/11/2020 14:16

It'll go up first December

TeaOneSugar · 21/11/2020 15:53

I'm usually a fairly late decorator, but I've spent all afternoon deep cleaning the living room and moving the furniture around to accommodate the tree, so maybe next weekend, if I have help getting things down from the loft. I've got a new small pre lit one for the hall I might put up sooner.

I've bought a few new decorations, I'm definitely planning to make the house a bit more festive this year.

Pipandmum · 21/11/2020 15:56

No. Two weeks to go.

baggies · 21/11/2020 16:46

@Sadhoot I have 2 little conifers in pots either side of my porch. I just wind fairy lights around them. They're battery operated, on a timer with a variety of settings.
Also put a pre lit tree ( one with bare branches) in our porch.
Have bought some lights to decorate our hedge this year too.

nancybotwinbloom · 21/11/2020 16:59

I put it up today. I know it's too early.

It got delivered today and I thought I'd just get it out the box to see what it looked like but not decorate it.

My DD and I decorated it anyway and i made a long wreath for over the fire to match the tree. Same ribbon etc.

I've also made a massive round wreath with a hula hoop for outside.

There are some up in my road.

WankPuffins · 21/11/2020 17:02

No!

Up on the weekend before Xmas, down the day after Boxing Day.

All I ever think of when I see trees up mid October is dusty decorations by Xmas day.

AlexisIsMySpiritAnimal · 21/11/2020 17:05

Yes! I'm sat next to it right now 🎄

Be honest. Is your tree up?
Anjo2011 · 21/11/2020 17:08

No, not yet. I’ve promised dc’s first weekend in December, it’s normally weekend before Christmas! I love it when it’s up but don’t want it up for a month or more.

DelphiniumBlue · 22/11/2020 17:08

No. It's not December yet.

LadyCatStark · 22/11/2020 17:23

@CallmeAngelina

Absolutely not. I'm sorry but I think there's something a little bit sad about people who set such store by Christmas that they feel the need to bring it forward by so much. Even this year, is there so little else going on on their lives?
There is literally nothing going on in my life right now 😂😂😂
Bluntness100 · 22/11/2020 17:27

Mine is now up, did it today, it’s sitting twinkling away at me prettily,,

BG2015 · 22/11/2020 17:29

Put ours up today.

My neighbour has had hers up for 2 weeks along with many, many lights on the front of her house and a massive lit up reindeer in her garden.

HollyandIvyandallthingsYule · 22/11/2020 17:33

Not yet. I’ll put one tree up next Sunday, which is the first Sunday of Advent. But I won’t decorate it, just have the lights on. On the same day I will put out the candelabra in the bay window, hang the mini wreaths either side of it and turn on the outdoor lights. I’ll also put out the advent candle holder and light the first candle.

Decorating will start in earnest in December.

HerRoyalNotness · 22/11/2020 17:35

Some neighbours put their lights up the day after Halloween. Our neighbourhood gate/entry decorations have gone up which is a general signal that it’s ok to do ours, else we’d be getting letters that it’s too early. We’ve done the outside lights and I’m moving stuff around to make a space for the tree. Will probably do it this week

BigBrows · 22/11/2020 17:37

Ours went up last Thursday. It's been a crappy year and we all (Me, DP, DD1 (5) & DD2 (2)) really love Christmas & it's been a crap year

timeforawine · 22/11/2020 17:45

Mine is going up next weekend, a week earlier than it would normally.
I do however have my fireplace and banister garland up and my little girls mini Frozen tree is up as it made her so happy!
