I took the minutes for a Zoom committee meeting of a worthy group to which I belong.

profilechange · 03/11/2020 20:05

I'm having a long awaited soak in the bath. Was planning on reading my book, but Mumsnet is far too inviting 😂

MissConductUS · 03/11/2020 20:18

@Mooselaurels

Thanks! My best picture yet, but room for improvement I think. Probably need a better camera, but they're £££ so I'll continue to hone my skills on the affordable equipment for a bit longer.

Whereabouts in the hemisphere are you? I'm at latitude 52 or thereabouts, Mars rises in the east at the moment as it's pretty close to opposition still. Should be able to see it not long after sunset in the northern hemisphere.

Try a free app like Sky Safari to figure out a good time to spot it!

I'm at latitude 41. I think the problem is that I'm looking for it around 5:00 AM, so it may not have risen yet. I have the GoSkyWatch app on my phone but if it's free I'll download Sky Safari too. GSW lets you see what's below the horizon, which is handy and clearly marks the ecliptic.

Of course, when I look for it I'm cold, sweaty, and out of breath, none of which helps. Smile

It’s a fantastic photo @Mooselaurels, well done!

I had leftover lasagna for supper. It was surprisingly nice. And some leftover apple crumble that wasn’t that nice really. Then some plain yoghurt. I HEROICALLY didn’t eat any of the kids’ Halloween chocolate but only because I am trying to give up sugary snacks in November because I am a dreadful sugar addict. Otherwise I would have eaten loads.

Then I watched the first episode of season 2 of the Boys on Amazon prime. And now I am in bed with a hot water bottle.

PersisFord · 03/11/2020 21:28

@MissConductUS how is the tooth (or lack of tooth) today?

It's at the dull achy stage now. I've had a low-grade headache all day and chills on and off, which is probably from the bacterial infection.

The bleeding seems to have stopped, which is nice as it was making me a bit nauseous. The surgeon rang my mobile this morning to ask how I was doing, which was nice.

Thanks for asking. I'm hoping to feel fully human tomorrow. Smile

You poor thing. Stay warm and drink plenty of fluids

Mooselaurels · 03/11/2020 21:49

@MissConductUS

Have a look for Venus around sunrise? They don't call it the morning star for nothing!

I woke up early a few weeks back and saw it, but was far too bleary eyed to get my telescope out!

I'll be keeping an eye on the forecast and see if I can get an opportunity to get a favourable time to expand my planetary imaging, Saturn and Jupiter are low in the sky for me right now and bugger off behind a tree before I can get any decent pics :(

SilkieRabbits · 04/11/2020 07:22

Just telling DS about the US election though like the way BBC has cut the newspaper headlines here so one now says 'America now decides its fat' rather than fate. Grin

www.bbc.co.uk/news

DS wanted to know why Americans don't vote directly for the President and I told him but he kept saying but why? why? Grin

Just about to have a cup of tea and scotch pancakes with butter, I love them.

Squirrel26 · 04/11/2020 07:36

I’m having coffee in bed. It’s too cold here to even consider getting up and dressed.

Nomnomarrgh · 04/11/2020 07:39

Radio three got me to sleep last night

ChickensMightFly · 04/11/2020 07:42

Just having a cup of tea and looking at the sheep in the frosty field behind our house. The field was empty last night and now it is decorated with land-based mini clouds. I'm trying to be patient with youngest who always takes a thousand years to get dressed (dd8).

Champagneforeveryone · 04/11/2020 07:46

I'm home from a night shift and waiting to go to bed, but have to take DS to college first. I am rabidly tired.

DS cannot find "like any" T-shirt's. On further questioning this actually means one of the four he wears on rotation. Since he's hardly being asked to attend sixth form in a glittery boob tube I am indifferent to his plight.

TenCornMaidens · 04/11/2020 07:54

Morning. Have taken to doing the cryptic crossword with my husband first thing in the morning rather than doom-scrolling. I LOVE it. Am not British by birth so the cryptic has always seemed like an eccentric bizarre closed club that I never really wanted to join, but he is teaching me. Sometimes I solve them without my conscious brain being involved at all. Shock

ReallySpicyCurry · 04/11/2020 07:54

It's bloody freezing here. I am going to light the fire. DH has bought a fire log, and it's amazing because you just light it and stick coal on top, rather than having to set the fire properly with newspaper and kindling and all. Our heating runs solely off the fire so I have to light it every day in winter.

I'm going to wrap up the toddler and take her to the post office. No particular reason for going to the post office, she just really, really likes it. Though if they have any yellow paint in the little craft shelf we might get some.

Then I'm going to bake a ginger and caramel cake for DH's birthday

Spudlet · 04/11/2020 07:59

Morning all. Chilly one here too. I have my snowflake leggings on in honour of this.

Busy day planned for me today, I am going to run, have a coffee with DH at my favourite coffee shop before it has to close again, and bake the Christmas cake. However all I’ve done so far is get dressed. DS is still in his pyjamas, and I’m sitting on the sofa.

Cooltalkin · 04/11/2020 08:21

Chilly here too , love it !
Sitting in bed waiting for a hair colour to take and messing on internet
I HAVE A DAY TO MYSELF !!!

I can’t believe it

TenCornMaidens · 04/11/2020 08:23

@Cooltalkin Oooh, enjoy!!

Nomnomarrgh · 04/11/2020 08:44

Never been able to get my head around cryptic clues, so go you @TenCornMaidens!

Is today worth getting up for? I can go anywhere and buy anything, but do I want to?

witchofthenorth · 04/11/2020 08:49

Ooo can I join in?! I don't do anything exciting. Quiet morning, dentist then work. Biggest issue this morning was that there was no tub for DD lunch. Was meant to do lots of stuff yesterday but having been feeling a bit weepy, so when the doctors receptionist told me off for not standing in the right place and made me go back outside I had a small meltdown. So spent the day in a cosy jumper in front of the fore instead.

Good morning all. Smile

@Mooselaurels I saw Venus this morning, as I do every morning with clear skies. Mars was just below the horizon according to GoSkyWatch.

I'm feeling a bit better this morning, but did wake up around 1:00 AM needing some ibuprofen.

@witchofthenorth - Welcome, and please do joing in. Sorry to hear about your experience at the doctor's office.

I'm off to shower and get ready for work.

I have the morning to myself as DH is golfing. I am catching up on Homes Under the Hammer and then will take the recycling up to the bins further up the street. I may watch a crappy movie before DH returns home. Oh and I’m meeting an ex colleague for a walk later. Quite exciting day ahead, sorry 😐

PersisFord · 04/11/2020 12:33

I love cryptic crosswords - my mum and I do them by WhatsApp.

My 5 year old has announced that he wants to start preparing for Christmas on Saturday. I am all for this (and we can’t go anywhere anyway!) but I’m not sure what to do really. We don’t eat Christmas cake really but maybe we will bake one anyway just for the fun. And also, what else could we make this far ahead?!

Nydj · 04/11/2020 12:45

@PersisFord, you could make some salt dough decorations for Christmas?

ChickensMightFly · 04/11/2020 13:30

Paper chains are best fine well in advance and are great to do to Xmas music and contented chat
