As a treat, I've just had a bacon and cheddar omelet instead of my usual breakfast of yogurt, fruit and granola. It was very good.
While driving DD to work this morning we discussed her plans for the spring semester. She is going to apply to the university to be on campus, starting in January. They have said they will have up to 60% of the students back and classes will be in person or virtual at the choice of the instructor. A poll they did recently indicated that only about 50% of students want to be on campus, so she will very likely be offered a place.
I think we'll have to see what's happening with the pandemic in January. If it's really bad they may continue to close. I am happy for DD as I know she really wants to stop doing uni in her bedroom at home and be a proper student on campus. Her brother will be here with us, so it will be essentially a swap of the DC.
In some rather distressing news, I found out yesterday that my 91 year old mum has tested positive for covid. She got it from her home health aide, who comes in daily to help her with various activites. The good news is that other than a stuffy nose she's asymptomatic and the sinus congestion could be due to something else. She's seen her doctor who has told her to quarantine at home and will retest her in three weeks.
My working hypothesis is that because her HHA was masked while in her home she was infected but with a very low viral load. We'll see how she does. It's a very unpredictable disease.
