@Prokupatuscrakedatus Yes, it is a bit of a cliche... would he be interested in something in the gaming industry though? My BiL teaches this, 3D modelling and the like.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 13/11/2020 20:24

@Spudlet
I am collecting ideas. Thank you.

It's funny but children usually only know the jobs 'in the family' from all the thousands of options there are. Oh, and teacher of course ...

MissConductUS · 13/11/2020 20:33

I see him doing sth with taxes or so - no people, no surprises and a strict work protocol to follow.

My DS has mild to moderate ADHD and is doing really well studying accounting, probably for the same reasons. There's a set of rules to follow and it's very systematic.

DH did some software development/programming early in his career but is very outgoing with good people skills. People are surprised he works in IT. Grin He now does IT management and spends most of his time running projects.

@missconductus
Accounting is sth he could do (he did maths olympics once). And I have found out that there are 'preparatory measures' for school leavers with problems. After the crisis phone call from his mentor I am still shocked at how badly the lack of medication affected him.

And I have towork from home bc. I am a 'secondary close contact'.

I urgently need to calm down again. So here some old building:

My ASD DC wants to teach, specifically Primary or outdoor education, she will be brilliant at it if she can maintain the focus required to get there.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 13/11/2020 21:15

Helena
Teaching - no I don't thinks so, his Dsis (same type of brain) could do it, though.

TenCornMaidens · 13/11/2020 21:32

Theres a blog I used to read called Autistic Not Weird - written by a teacher with autism. Insightful.

Did some ironing , about a week overdue , mostly uniform that was in the laundry bin since LAST weekend , mainly husbands work shirts and trousers and mainly DD school uniform .. so it was washed last weekend but sat in the ironing pile and ironed today , a week late BUT ready for Monday IYSWIM
Had a loooong bubble bath and ate lamb massaman in the bath ..leftover ‘ surprise plastic Tupperware meal ‘ , that gives the name because I didn’t label it before it went in the freezer....there’s something dirty about eating in the bath but if it makes my mental health positive during lock down so be it ... a good day .. it was delicious ...I’m now drinking some Christmas vodka ..nothing Christmassy about it ... it’s just vodka ..spoke to my grandson on FaceTime , he was poorly with a cold but after seeing nanny he was jumping on the sofas !, hoorah

DramaLlama12 · 13/11/2020 21:43

@tencornmsidens ...I need to seek that out .. I’m just embarking in that field

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 13/11/2020 21:49

tencorn I'll have a look there, too.

Talking of ironing, I've done it again - left my linen shirts so long out to dry that they have become crumply and hard.

Taswama · 13/11/2020 22:32

@Prokupatuscrakedatus

ThatIsNotMyUsername · 13/11/2020 23:21

It’s not dull
It’s not in exciting...

I just went to go to bed
I pulled back the sheets...
There was the biggest bloody🕷 In the world romping around. The bastard.

I need a(nother) drink.

soddingkitten · 14/11/2020 00:17

Sodding has discovered the joy of a warm fleecy radiator hammock since we cranked the central heating up. He’s been a huge disappointment for evening cuddles for the last week. I miss him so much, I want to turn the kitchen radiator off. 😭

MarieVanGoethem · 14/11/2020 05:33

I’ve so loved reading these threads. Admittedly, would perhaps have loved reading this one even more at less ridiculous hour, but your posts have made lovely sort-of company (my cats have abandoned me in favour of a spot of Rampaging, Hell-Raising & Hooliganism - there have been a LOT of crashes from my brother’s room, as well as multiple enthusiastic goes at tandem somersaults down the stairs) while Not Sleeping. I’ve also Anna Karenina on, but my auditory processing being, er, a bit wonky, means I’m not really making much sense of it. (Or can we just blame Tolstoy? That doesn’t seem wholly unreasonable to me...)

I need to handwash my masks that need handwashing (did the ones that can go in the machine the other day) because I’ve a trip to the hospital on Monday. Have also decided I really ought to have one of the Filter All The Things masks in my hospital bag; & am debating ordering more N99 filters from Poland [seemingly only place one can get them] before we’re dragged out of the EU. Have also realised I need to check with my wee sister about [non-]arrival Spider-Man mask I sent my wee nephew, as if it’s not reached them I’ll need to contact the person I bought it from.

I am wearing quite exceptionally cosy pyjamas & a pair of the best & warmest snuggly socks. Wondering if my brain thought I should stay up to marvel at & revel in their splendour. Rather than show my appreciation by having a very satisfying warm & comfy sleep Hmm I really need to put my winter duvet on, I’ve just not been able to manage the linen-wrangling required Blush

@PersisFord - I’d totally forgotten until now(ish) that I went to school with a Persis. Also two Persephones & an Estacia. As of course one expects of a big girls’ comprehensive school. She was not, I’m sad to say, at all Anne-ish.

soddingkitten · 14/11/2020 07:23

This is what DH and I have lost Sodding to. We exist only to top up his bowl, unlock the cat flap and listen to his yowly daytime updates about what’s going down in the ‘hood. (Note to self: that hammock needs straightening up.)

sueelleker · 14/11/2020 07:34

He looks so cosy though!

SilkieRabbits · 14/11/2020 07:38

He looks very cute and cosy snuggled up there.

Our cat is terrified of anything like that, fleece is terrifying alone and that would certainly be seen as a potential radiator / fleece animal cat killer trap by our not very brave cat.

soddingkitten · 14/11/2020 07:41

@sueelleker

He looks so cosy though!
I know, but the cuddle drought is killing us. Its like having a delightful child who has hit puberty and shuttered himself in his bedroom. We miss him lying across our chests, all floppy and warm and squeaky snores. I can’t marvel at every beautiful detail of him like a doe-eyed new mother when he’s two rooms away. 😞
sueelleker · 14/11/2020 08:02

Would he sleep in it on your lap?

soddingkitten · 14/11/2020 08:05

@sueelleker

Would he sleep in it on your lap?
DH said we should try wearing it hooked over our shoulders like a pelican bib. 😆 Or turn the heating off.
SilkieRabbits · 14/11/2020 08:15

Could you try an electric blanket on your bed?

BatleyTownswomensGuild · 14/11/2020 08:17

I put new cedar balls in my clothes drawers and wardrobe last night. Woo-hoo! Living the dream, Ladies...

Squirrel26 · 14/11/2020 08:19

I sometimes lure the dog in with a hot water bottle.

I am watching Blue Peter. I'm not going to tell you how old I am, but let's just say it's significantly older than the target audience. It's very relaxing though.

SilkieRabbits · 14/11/2020 08:21

I'm watching the Queens Gambit on Netflix in bed just finished a cup of tea. DH is snoring next to me. I can hear DS awake downstairs.

Spudlet · 14/11/2020 08:23

I wish they made human-sized radiator cat beds. In fact, Dragons Den, let’s do it. This time next year, we’ll be millionaires Rodney!

DS picked a massive scab off his elbow (tripped in the school playground on Monday) last night and was rather upset. His sheet now has bloodstains on it 😱 Not sure my faithful Vanish stain remover bar will deal with them tbh! DH had patched him by the time I came round (he’s a really light sleeper) then DS and I sat in the rocking chair under his duvet and had a snuggle. It was lovely as he was over the distress by then and just needed cuddles. It was also 4am though and it took me a while to get back to sleep, so I feel a little bit grotty this morning.

I think he might have a bit of a scar on his elbow, which will match the one on his knee that he got in the summer 🙈
