I’m going to sort out my Christmas decorations today, not putting them up yet, just a good tidy and getting rid of any broken ones.

I keep thinking I might go full-on Christmas this year, but then I get confused looking at 30 million options for different kinds of lights and decide I can’t be bothered.

Funnily enough my SIL said if they made human-sized radiator hammocks she’d buy one.

I don’t have much in the way of decorations, mainly tree ones and a few sets of old lights, but every year instead of packing them away properly I just chuck them in a box , looking forward to organising them all, furlough life

Re Christmas decs and backing
I just realized I have to do it all before my OP, because after I am not supposed to stand or walk for a time.

My DH and I did the cryptic jumbo this morning. Our dd (13) came in and snuggled with us and we actually played, like tickle games and 'don't let her go' games and she LOVED it. As did I, obvs. My ds (15) is not very tactile and never has been, she is the cuddly one, but teenagerhood means I've been missing my cuddles. Lovely.

I have now had two cups of coffee, in bed. It is time to get up and help DD to wash her hair.

Still in pyjamas but I have to get up & out later to source new trainers for DS1, as he has lost his entire PE kit bag including his new (birthday) Nike trainers. 😤

DD is baking a chocolate cake. As you can only bake in a clean kitchen (or my DM, her 5 aunts and 1 GM will shoot lightnings at me from their clouds) I have already cleaned the kitchen - so I am safe.

For calm continuity's sake:
DH's papers are still on the sofa, joined by 2 piles of books to be sent out and a lever file of sb. notes for a book about a novel.

I took matters into my own hands earlier. I lifted Sodding out of his hammock and brought him in to the lounge to watch a film with me. He’s sleeping on my lap.

Good luck with the sheet - Vanish bar & straight into a cold wash should do it ok. My frankly shoddy genes (I have complained...) mean I’m a bit prone to bleeding all over the shop for no reason & have cleared up bedlinen that could’ve been mistaken for the site of Something Grisly with a Vanish bar in my time. (I have grown lazy in my advancing years though & now use [in-wash] powder stuff )

I got no sleep at all so am decidedly... fogged?

I’ve been for a soggy run, had a shower, hung out two loads of laundry, logged DC into their online dance classes x 2, taken mince meat for tacos out of the freezer and now getting ready to vacuum. Contemplating doing the skirting boards but might save that for tomorrow!

Bakedin kit arrived for DC2 yesterday so will be helping with (clearing up after) that this afternoon.

The Christmas cake is in the oven and smells lovely. The fruit had been soaking since last weekend.

Mmmmmmm. I love the smell of banking cake!

Went to the dentist this morning. Was worried that the public car park would be busy, but pleasantly surprised that there were plenty of spaces.

@soddingkitten I scooped DCat1 up and brought her to the sofa too.

I've put on my new snuggly jumper and have settled on the sofa with the DCs to watch X-Men Last Stand and do some crochet (Though DS2 is on his tablet, not watching). DS2 and I will go to the pet shop later to buy some snail substrate so that he can work towards his Pet Care Beaver badge.

Cat1 is sat with her tongue out.

The cake is out of the oven - smells lovely, looks nice - but is still too hot to try.

All this baking. May make a loaf of bread in a bit.

Have just had an email from a different Beaver colony offering DS2 a space. It never rains, but pours. DS2 LOVED his first Zoom meeting last night and is already counting down the weeks until he can be invested. We watched a promise on YouTube earlier and he was concerned about making a false promise with the line 'to love God' as we are atheists (though we have never attempted to influence their beliefs and have always tried to explain about beliefs in an inclusive way whenever religion comes up), but I've found that there are alternative promises depending on your personal beliefs, so he's happier now.

I've mcinerney back to bed while the toddler naps in her cot beside me.

Sodding has only just disappeared off, probably to start his lunch campaign with DH. Quality cuddles. 👌

DD is off on her run in the rain. DH is sleeping again.
