I've started a new one. Please join us and share the boring and mundane things happening in your world. It will be calming for all.

I've got a sensitive gag reflex so no idea how I'd be able to get the thing down my throat. Nose bit would be fine.

As frownette says, take something with you to hold your tongue down and then you can get a decent view of your tonsils and do a quick scrape before you gag. (Assuming you go to a test site where you do your own.)

Loved all the animal pics. The silkies were adorable. I’ve been trying to find a photo of Sodding that doesn’t have one of us in it. Not easy as he is very giving with his cuddles and all the best pictures are when he’s draped over one of us.

I wore a smart work jacket today for the first time in just over 8 months. I had to cut the tags out of it this morning. I bought it in February and had begun to wonder if I’d ever have cause to wear it. Everyone seems to have embraced smart casual, or just casual in work.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 11/11/2020 06:34

No DIY covid tests here.

Today is St. Martin - sadly no children will be parading the streets with their lanterns, no bonfire no waffles and no Glühwein for adults bc rules.

SilkieRabbits · 11/11/2020 07:07

That's a shame Prok All the 5th Nov bonfire and fireworks got cancelled here and there's normally stalls at those doing roast pork and apple sauce in buns, burgers and things like nutella pancakes. It's the main nice thing that happens in November and its often for 2 weekends. On the other hand its nice and warm inside.

We should really get some mulled wine and mince pies. We are so busy with house sale atm not really thought too much about things. Had electricians last night, today is gas check and epc survey, tomorrow is solicitors, Friday is electricians again. Really want to work on this house but all being held up for old one.

soddingkitten · 11/11/2020 08:09

I made our first batch of mince pies with DS2 at the weekend. There are only 2 left. Blush We also have a bottle of mulled wine in the cupboard from last Christmas. It won’t be there for much longer now you have reminded me. Sad

I’m currently debating whether to go for a brisk walk before starting work. It is raining here but not especially hard.

Just me and Sodding WFH today. With the wet weather I’m hoping to get lots of cuddles.

Spudlet · 11/11/2020 09:02

I might have to get mulling soon. We have some syrup somewhere - just need the wine. I’m not sure I’m ready to bake mince pies yet though.

Just waiting for DS’s speech therapist to arrive, then we have an online phonics session at 11. DS is very excited that his speech therapist is coming, he was running around earlier yelling ‘Sophie time! Hooray!’ which is even cuter than it sounds because he really enunciates hooray carefully (and loudly) Grin

Tomorrow is going to be touch because the power is due to be down from 9 until 3 😬 I’m going to print off some of the things DS’s teacher has sent over, and hope my phone battery lasts! DH has taken the day off, so we’ll probably do a lot of PE by going for a walk and maybe practice map reading by finding some geocaches. That counts as educational, right?

Frownette · 11/11/2020 09:33

I really like mulled cider, haven't done that for years and can barely remember how to do it! I've got a recollection of sticking cloves into an orange and a blank thereafter.

Coronavirus test was negative for relative.

Themadcatparade · 11/11/2020 09:37

I am tracking my order for a delivery of toothbrushes for the household today. I’m quite looking forward to this because I’ve been isolating for a few days and it will break up my work day looking and dividing the toothbrushes out. Four of them are bamboo, and are colour coded. Two will go to my DD’s and one will be mine. I will keep the fourth one for an emergency spare. Also I ordered a toothbrush and toothpaste for the cat, which I am looking forward to trying out on him. The cat toothpaste is cheese flavoured.

Frownette · 11/11/2020 09:49

Ok so dry cider, star anise, cinnamon stick, cloves, bit of sugar, maybe apple and ginger teabag. Possibly dash of rum.

I'll try mulled cider when the temperature drops.

sueelleker · 11/11/2020 09:53

I've got a sensitive gag reflex so no idea how I'd be able to get the thing down my throat. Nose bit would be fine. Me too; I even gag when I'm brushing my back teeth!

Let's hope we don't have to do the test! Should only be a few months before vaccines are rolled out and we'll have the novelty of seeing people face to face again
Squirrel26 · 11/11/2020 10:27

Ahem, @Spudlet, allow me.
‘DS participated in physical geography, numeracy, literacy (map reading) and physical education. He also practiced team working, communication and observation.’

I didn’t have enough milk left, so my coffee is too strong.

Champagneforeveryone · 11/11/2020 10:55

themadcatparade the toothbrush delivery has me on the edge of my seat. We are in day 1 of isolation until DS gets a clear test back (which I suspect he will) so living my life vicariously through the medium of your toothbrushes is a blessing Grin

For my part, we have ordered a collapsible fire pit. I'm tracking its progress online, so far it has come from China to Paris (where it got held up at customs) and has now mysteriously gone to Italy (we live in the UK) It's now currently skulking round Bologna somewhere.

Themadcatparade · 11/11/2020 11:28

@Champagneforeveryone oh dear what a calamity!

We have ordered ten mechanical fish for the cat too from China but they seem to be lost in transit, this has been going on since august. We have decided within this time that this spontaneous impulse buy is not actually needed anymore. So we are going to have ten fish sometime in the future that will be useless to us.

Frownette · 11/11/2020 11:55

Actually this makes me really happy and it is dull but not unexciting for me, I've just found out I've got funding for business equipment :)

Won't stop smiling all day.

Nydj · 11/11/2020 15:10

We have a fancy cake in the shopping that arrived today - pizza and cake this evening, hooray!

ChickensMightFly · 11/11/2020 15:17

Today I have procrastinated as I have an admin task I am not thrilled about and have eaten a packet of smokey bacon flavoured crisps with a cup of tea. I enjoyed them immensely and am resisting a second packet, I think I will succeed better at that than at the boring admin.

SilkieRabbits · 11/11/2020 15:25

Had chicken korma and rice for lunch followed by coop mince pies which were awful. I didn't know you could get bad mince pies but either I have severe covid affecting my taste or those tasted like they were made with lard.

Just getting peanuts and chocolate orange segments - eating so much junk but just trying to get house sale through. Got gas and epc tonight, solicitors tomorrow and arranged electricity for 23rd. So should calm a bit next week hopefully.

Another covid case at school in DS year.

SilkieRabbits · 11/11/2020 15:26

Congrats Frownette

SilkieRabbits · 11/11/2020 15:27

And Coop doesn't do mulled wine Shock

PenguinsOnParade · 11/11/2020 15:32

Thread 6? I think I lost you all about 3 threads ago!

I'm currently enjoying some peace and quiet. DH got held up at work so should have been home half an hour ago but is only leaving now, DD1 is at work and DD2 is at school. I'm going to play some games on my phone then pretend to be hard at work when they all arrive back (which should be in around half an hour, they're all due within a few minutes of each other) as they've been good at leaving me in peace when I'm working. Grin

Spudlet · 11/11/2020 15:36

@Frownette That’s great news, well done!

@Champagneforeveryone Fingers crossed for you here 🤞

@Squirrel26 You have a gift Grin

We are now watching Tangled after our first full day of home school. I’m not sure it was a great success. DS was hugely overwrought at seeing all his classmates on Teams and spent a large amount of the phonics session running around stimming and screaming Confused He then had to go for a nap - I think he’s having a growth spurt as he’s constantly hungry and knackered. Then this afternoon we watching a video about Remembrance Day which made me cry Blush, made a poppy collage from things we found around the house, and did some kids yoga which was actually quite successful, then he had another online session for his teacher to read the class a story, which was ok. We also watched some videos about Diwali this morning and I told him all about the lights and things in Leicester, which is near to where I grew up. So I feel like we’ve put quite a lot in, but I don’t know how much we’ve got out of it? And I’m knackered 😳

unebaguettepastropcuite · 11/11/2020 16:26

I'm not in the UK and am have noticed they do the test differently. They don't do the throat here, but spend more time deep in the nose. Also, the UK version seems to be more "wave it around", whereas here they appeared slower and more controlled.

Not sure if that counts as unexciting news though, so I'll add that I have heartburn (again)

Champagneforeveryone · 11/11/2020 16:35

It's so dull here that DH has started a brain training app. He is crashingly dyslexic and somewhat shortsighted so there's much huffing and snorting going on.

DS is much improved and is celebrating by bidding on a drum kit on eBay. DH is unimpressed by this.

DDog3 is cold and is giving DH the side eye to light the fire. We've not cracked out her knickers house coat yet this year, much to her displeasure.

No Covid result yet so no work for me tonight (I love my job) Hmm

SilkieRabbits · 11/11/2020 16:39

Principality sent me this - its Dylan the Dragon games for primary school children. They must know I was bored:

www.dylansavingsquad.co.uk/en/childrens-hub.html

I did the one for the 5-7 year olds and wanted to enter into the prize draw but it already ended. Sad

SilkieRabbits · 11/11/2020 17:36

School just sent a message saying DS now has to isolate until next Friday as a close contact has covid. He seemed quite happy to have no school for 6 days and especially to miss PHSE sex education day. So I've got 6 days teaching him from home but he seemed fine with that. He also tells me there's no chance he has covid as he's "been doing a lot of deep breathing in his mask" Grin
