Went for a walk with my sister and got a bit lost - on the plus side, we managed to do lots of steps. Am watching a Christmas film now.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 06/11/2020 14:44

@sueelleker
Chiropracter is the next on my list for her, I am glad they were good for you. I monitored her hips very carefully whan she was small and only now it starts.

DH will be in zoom calls from 17h onwards, DD still is in zoom calls - so I'll get my book and be quiet.

I use special padded socks called Thorlos when I run or walk and I just noticed that the pair I keep at work has a hole in the toe area. This happens over time, so I'll just have to bin that one and bring a new on in from home.

We have a bird feeder outside the kitchen window, mostly to amuse the cats, but also to support the local bird population. There was a bad drought here in September and October, which meant that acrorns didn't drop to feed the squirrels and a lot of the berries and seeds the birds eat disappeared. So the squirrels started eating everyone's Holloween pumpkins and the birds have been mobbing our feeder.

We almost ran out of the black oil sunflower seeds we put in the feeder and it's been hard to find in the shops. The shop we usually get it from has shown it out of stock on their website for weeks. DH was near there, went in and found they had plenty, so he bought 3 20 pound bags. He had offered the opinion that the website might simply be wrong, and he was correct. The cashier confirmed that the website has rubbish inventory figures.

I hung a machine load of washing outside on the washing line today at approx 11am. It's been 9 degrees, bright but not overly sunny, and fairly still. It was a lot of socks and pants.

I just got it back in before the weather gets dark and damp. It has about half dried, so I've hung it back up on an airer inside.

Champagneforeveryone · 06/11/2020 15:54

missconduct we have one outside our front window, about 18inches from the pavement.

It took a while but we have a healthy population of sparrows (and a wood mouse) now who please me and ChampagneCat no end. We call it ChampagneCat's TV Grin

In boring news, I took DDogs 2&3 for a long walk. They both tried to eat some cat poo. I prevented this.

I have also repotted a houseplant, and DH has walked to the milk machine for breakfast tomorrow.

rosieb060 · 06/11/2020 15:59

@HitchikersGuide did you put cold in, or just enjoy it in a slihh to you painful way?

AdoraBell · 06/11/2020 16:01

I managed to find a perfect salad mix in Sainsbury’s on a yellow sticker price.

EggyPegg · 06/11/2020 16:16

Our lawn mower randomly just stopped working recently. Just wouldn't turn on. I was lamenting this to my SIL last week and she offered me theirs as they've put artificial grass down. I have just used it for the first time so that the grass is done until the spring, and it is amazing. Like pushing it on ice.

MissConductUS · 06/11/2020 16:43

@Champagneforeveryone We call ours CatTV too. Daisy will make these odd squeaking noises while she watches the birds. I think she's trying to pretend she's a bird to trick them into the house, but perhaps she's just overly excited. One problem with having it close to the window is that from time to time a bird will fly into the window, which can't be good for the bird or the window.

It's now unseasonably warm here. I didn't even need my running jacket this morning as it was about 8 degrees. Oh, and I recently googled chocolate orange, as I'd never heard of them. We don't have them here, unfortunately.

I would LOVE the recipe for the date and apple squares!

I am making rice pudding with some oat milk. We keep some for a vegan friend who comes round quite regularly and I quite like it in coffee. During the first lockdown she was worried about getting it so bought lots, then she has only been round a couple of times and it has a short BB date so I need to use it up.

soddingkitten · 06/11/2020 17:17

@HitchikersGuide

My bath water this morning was just a little bit too hot.
This sounds spot on to me. If you’re not very flushed and in need of a lie down to stabilise your blood pressure afterwards, you’re not doing it right IMO.

Thank you - reading this reminded me that we still had washing hanging outside so I went and got it in. It was already dark but the security light came on so I was ok.
ReallySpicyCurry · 06/11/2020 17:25

I also would like the date and apple square recipe.

Teen DD has lockjaw after she laughed at her sister while trying to take a bite out of a fajita. She can't open her mouth fully and has refused the rest of the fajita. Will she be on a liquid diet for life?

PhilCornwall1 · 06/11/2020 17:29

Ok, not dull and unexciting but, our bathroom is almost complete and will be finished tomorrow, woo hoo!!!! It's really starting to look brilliant.

Just had to tell someone! Grin

HitchikersGuide · 06/11/2020 17:35

rosieb
I didn't have space to add cold so I just put up with it. 😂

HitchikersGuide · 06/11/2020 17:36

soddingkitten
😂 I'm glad others are weird about bathwater - too hot is ok; not hot enough is just so disappointing!

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 06/11/2020 18:22

We are having a make your own pizza dinner tonight. Mine is bacon and egg (with tomato sauce and cheese) on a spelt base. I wanted to make fiorentina (sp?) but we didn't have any spinach.

HelenaJustina · 06/11/2020 18:41

@soddingkitten I get a twitch in my eye when stressed or underslept. It feels really obvious but when I look in the mirror it’s barely noticeable to anyone else.

MistressIggi · 06/11/2020 18:42

I've lost a parcel. Got a notification saying it was delivered but it isn't. Even went out with a torch to look in the bins in case they'd put it there.
On the bright side it's pizzas for tea and I have done the shopping Smile

TenCornMaidens · 06/11/2020 19:06

I went for a little walk across the closed golf course this afternoon. Absolutely lovely. It is a brilliant thing about lockdown.

I also did some washing. And submitted an essay. And I'm meeting some old school friends on Zoom tonight. That might all be a bit too exciting, but it is at least nice news?

Squirrel26 · 06/11/2020 19:10

I’m washing some bed linen.
(When I say ‘I’ I mean my washing machine is. Am not washing them by hand in the bath. Fortunately.)

Spudlet · 06/11/2020 19:17

I washed my new doormat today, as it was getting pretty muddy. It’s come up really well.

HelloDulling · 06/11/2020 19:48

I thought the washing machine was broken, but it was just the fuse in the plug.

Taswama · 06/11/2020 20:43

I have just spent ten minutes convincing DS that brushing his teeth was necessary.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 06/11/2020 20:44

I read two pages of my book and promptly fell asleep.
I probably needed it, but now I have to get up and hang the washing.
