We are having a film night, but DD found the film a bit too scary and she is in bed reading some books the neighbours gave us in lockdown #1.

nancybotwinbloom · 06/11/2020 21:10

I changed my bedding a day early.

I have duvet from John Lewis where you put the whole thing in it's changed my life not having to struggle with duvet covers

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 06/11/2020 21:25

I've just seen the time mark on my post.
I slept 6 hours and am wide awake now (22:30 here).

Frownette · 06/11/2020 21:46

I made a laksa curry then absent mindedly rubbed my eyes, chilli on fingers - it's not the most painless way of removing your mascara.

I'm hungry again so will make cheese on toast before the news at ten, fascinated by US election and conflicting reports about if this lockdown should have happened

PersisFord · 06/11/2020 23:04

@Prokupatuscrakedatus you win the prize for best nap ever!!

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 06/11/2020 23:41

@PersisFord
Yes, it felt great - but now I am wide awake, it is past midnight and I need to get up again at 6.

I had sth to eat and signed up for some language taster courses. The Expolingua here in Berlin has switched to be oline this year and the programme just came out.

MissConductUS · 06/11/2020 23:50

@nancybotwinbloom I just make DH put the duvet cover back on. Grin

@Frownette I'm obviously following the election news too but would caution against paying too much attention to it for the next few days. It's mostly just noise now while the remaining ballots are counted.

@Prokupatuscrakedatus I'm jealous. I'm lucky to get six hours of sleep in my regular sleep cycle.

Putting duvet covers back here used to be extra fun when our cat was little as she would dash inside them and charge round from corner to corner as you were trying to put a new one on as she was so excited Grin

SilkieRabbits · 07/11/2020 05:47

Just put our new duck egg coloured bird and flowers bedspread on and some matching cushions and it has been cat tested and approved. She looked quite stunned at first then sat down and purred.

Got to fill in 10 long forms for solicitors today re house sale.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 07/11/2020 07:21

@MissCondctUS
Sorry to hear that, but perhaps 6 h is your normal?
Sleep very rarely is a problem for me. I slept fine during cancer treatment, I go to sleep sitting upright in trains...

It's past 8 and I'm writing the shopping list.

PersisFord · 07/11/2020 08:21

My shopping has just been delivered and I am gazing at a whole chicken with trepidation. It was this weeks meal request from one of the kids but I have never ever roasted a chicken. I’ve got my Delia Smith book though so I’m sure I will be fine. And I believe everything I read on mumsnet so I haven’t bought anything else, safe in the knowledge it will feed us all at least until Christmas!

soddingkitten · 07/11/2020 09:17

I am expecting a delivery of posh Japanese gin today. I ordered a bottle for a friend’s birthday and it is so nice I ordered a bottle for me too.

Squirrel26 · 07/11/2020 09:19

Delia won’t let you down, @PersisFord. Enjoy the chicken lasagna on day 7 and the chicken stir fry on day 16! Wink

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 07/11/2020 09:19

The whole chicken reminds me of a recipe my late DM used to make "Tyrolian chicken soup" which involved the cooking of said wohle chicken. I never liked that smell, but the soup it got turned into was wonderful.

HelenaJustina · 07/11/2020 10:07

@PersisFord Delia has a brilliantly easy recipe www.deliaonline.com/recipes/type-of-dish/sunday-roast/chicken-with-roasted-lemons-red-onion-thyme-and-garlic
I do it frequently but never bother with the potato or red onion malarky. (Or the sauce!) perfect roast chicken every time and so quick!

EggyPegg · 07/11/2020 10:14

SIL and I had a conversation about leaves in the garden on the family WhatsApp this morning. Hers have fallen in a perfectly straight line along the fence. Mine are more free spirited. There were photos. I also thanked her for the lawn mower. Then my dad rang me to offer me a cordless strimmer as he and my stepmum have just moved and the garden is paved.
So now all my lawn tending needs have been met and its cost me nothing.

EggyPegg · 07/11/2020 10:15

Re roasting chicken. It's DHs job in this house, butdint you just stick it in a roasting dish and put it in the oven?

Frownette · 07/11/2020 10:16

@SilkieRabbits well, you would have had to take it back if the cat didn't approve! Cute duvet-loving cat.

I need another coffee before I come around. COVID test arriving today for a relative, they don't understand 'self isolate' until test results back, so I'm having a struggle stopping them going to the shop. I can't police them 24/7.

Taswama · 07/11/2020 11:51

Am currently considering getting the fruity ingredients for the Christmas cake together.

Champagneforeveryone · 07/11/2020 11:56

I'm still in bed Blush

I've been reasonably productive while in bed, and there's not exactly a load of stuff to get up for.

Homemade pizza for dinner later, so life's not all bad!

MistressIggi · 07/11/2020 12:02

Have been for a walk, it's cold and the haar is still in so can't see the sun at all.
Lovely autumnal leaves everywhere.

SilkieRabbits · 07/11/2020 12:03

The cat normally approves of all duvets / bedspreads made of cotton / polycotton but anything fluffy / fleece or faux fur is terrifying.

Supposed to be doing house sale forms with DH but he's gone to sleep again despite sleeping all last night.

Had some special K cereal and a couple of cups of tea. Replied to estate agent about boiler. Have a new washable cream rug for next to the bed.

TheSilveryPussycat · 07/11/2020 12:39

@nancybotwinbloom

I changed my bedding a day early.

I have duvet from John Lewis where you put the whole thing in it's changed my life not having to struggle with duvet covers

What is this magic duvet of which you speak? I may or may not be sleeping under a naked duvet while awaiting the motivation to put the cover on Blush
Frownette · 07/11/2020 12:49

I was curious too!

sueelleker · 07/11/2020 14:02

Is it a duvelope, or one of the duvets you just put in the washing machine?
