What is it about Mrs Hinch that provokes such a reaction?

BearandaSpare · 21/10/2020 18:11

I’ve only recently become aware of her but a quick search both on here and online generally reveals all kinds of reactions, not necessarily positive.

As far as I can see she’s just doing what other ‘influencers’ do ie making money out of her online presence so why does she get it in the neck to the point that people are slagging off her son (not on here) and questioning her keeping to COVID rules (on here and yes a TAAT I guess)?

I feel sad for her. She's just trying her best and has been given this opportunity. You should look up Kate Hayes, she's a makeup artist and influencer on Instagram. Never have i seen someone so trolled and bullied online. Feel so awful for her.

BoulangerieBabs · 21/10/2020 19:27

@MilkandWater

God, I can’t imagine. Maybe because she’s a vacuous late-capitalist symbol? Because she monetises toilet-scrubbing into a weird gendered cult? She’s a fluorescent-toothed Essex version of Marie ‘Tidy Obsessive’ Kondo? Because she thinks getting your kicks from Instagramming photographs of your freshly-shined sink with captions like ‘Live Your Life For You!!!’ is a normal, even an admirable, thing to do?
Whatever you think of her, calling someone vacuous is just rude.
GirlCrush · 21/10/2020 19:27

oh and @Lollyneenah injecting her face with what, exactly?

Lollyneenah · 21/10/2020 19:31

I'm not snobbish at all, I just would not want my dd to want to live that way from a feminist perspective more than anything.
Mrs hunch has made money from it, which is excellent, but that cant be replicated. I wouldn't want my dd to want that life - being in the house all day, prettying herself and tidying.
I think mrs hinch or someone with her kind of skills (brains, perfectionist, creative) could do very well in something like medicine or chemistry or engineering. I'd rather my daughter was raised to aspire towards that.

Lollyneenah · 21/10/2020 19:32

She has had botox, I'm not wrong there, and that's fine for her. I'm sure shes a nice lady, I'm just trying to answer the OPs question from my perspective.

Sparklingbrook · 21/10/2020 19:34

I don't think she's vacuous at all, I think underneath everything she's a fairly shrewd intelligent businesswoman who knows exactly what she's doing. It won't last forever.

Popcornismandatory · 21/10/2020 19:36

How sad that on a forum that is essentially for women a woman that is doing ok for herself is being torn down Sad

GeorgeMichaelsEspadrille · 21/10/2020 19:42

I suspect quite a lot of naysayers think that they could do what she has done. And are probably pissed off because she's made presumably a great deal of money and they haven't.

Because she's actually done something whereas they've just thought about it.

SonjaMorgan · 21/10/2020 19:45

I am not a fan of any influencers. They pretend to be your friend whilst encouraging you to buy tat you don't need. Then when they have a big enough platform they push merch and books.

LucilleBluth · 21/10/2020 19:46

How about sending women back to the dark ages By chaining us to the kitchen sink.

Don’t get me wrong, I like a clean house but there’s a million things I’d rather do than clean let alone watch someone else clean.

gubbbbbddaaaa · 21/10/2020 19:52

Jealously I should think that she is making money from something we all do every day ! Some people are so jealous and bitter .. I like her and think she is harmless .. I also think she is very pretty and god only knows why she is not confident .

Coldandwet123 · 21/10/2020 20:01

Maybe its because she cleans her house and buys cleaning products. Its what a normal person does, on top of everything else.
How does someone become famous doing this? So many talented people who aren't famous and there are people making money from shopping at B&M and filming it Confused

ChrissyPlummer · 21/10/2020 20:02

I don’t really have an opinion one way or the other....but I don’t understand how anyone can be “obsessed” by cleaning. DH does ours as I hate it and would rather do pretty much anything else. When I lived alone I did the bare minimum that I had to, so that I got my tenancy deposit back. I find it weird that people will watch/listen/look at pictures of someone hoovering or something.

Mrs Hinch isn’t really my thing but then I don’t keep up with any instagram/youtube influencers as they don’t appeal to me. I don’t get going online to hate someone but I also don’t get over the top adoration of influencers. I’ve heard/seen some people talking as if they know Mrs Hinch and her baby personally.

I think this is a big part of it. I hate it when someone I’ve previously enjoyed following tips into ‘influencer’ territory as they just start pushing any old crap they get #gifted and it loses all sense of authenticity. I follow someone cause I like their posts, content, whatever you want to call it, not for adverts 🤦🏼‍♀️

With Mrs Hinch specifically tho, for me, it’s just cringey. We all clean our houses, I just struggle to see what’s worth the hero worship myself. Also some of her tips have been actually quite dangerous.

Rainbowllama4 · 21/10/2020 20:08

Meh, she’s making a lot of money whilst she can, don’t blame her, in 5 years no one will remember her. I’m not on Instagram but have read about her, I don’t understand the hatred unless it’s jealousy talking.

gingerbreadfox · 21/10/2020 20:08

Claims to love animals but promotes products that are tested on animals to millions of followers

Umbridge34 · 21/10/2020 20:12

I dont follow her but I have no problem with her success. Good for her I say.

I will never understand the obsessive cleaning of already clean things or the hoarding of cleaning products. Her followers losing their minds over sponges and new scents of zoflora is just weird.

Fridgeandkitchen · 21/10/2020 20:14

@DownstairsMixUp

Dangerous tips. Stolen tips from others with no credit. People feel it's taking us back a step, cleaning isn't a personality trait but suddenly women are getting excited over disinfectants. There's lots of very inspiring women out there that don't get half as much attention who make a real difference. She's not always been clear when advertising. Pretty much earns money for doing nothing WITH support of her unemployed husband. People are annoyed I guess that we've all had a hard year and work hard maybe and just see her as quite annoying. She also goes on about how hard things are all the time when she's incredibly privileged. I don't know anyone that had anymore than 2 weeks with the other parent when having a baby.
You are coming across as jealous.

Her husband isn’t unemployed. He gave up work to be at home from what I’ve just read. I am sure many would do the same if they had the financial security.

Mycatisthebest · 21/10/2020 20:23

Halloweenies - I don't like her 'brand' because she lies a lot and her 'tips' are usually stolen or dangerous,

Genuine question what has she lied about and what "Tips" are dangerous?
I don't want to try anything dangerous!!!

Justmuddlingalong · 21/10/2020 20:23

I have no issue with her or what she does. But, the one gullible person I know who follows her like an idol, buys anything she recommends when she can ill afford it. She has a cupboard that is overflowing with cleaning products (that are seldom used) which she shows off frequently while telling everyone what a wonderful inspiration Mrs H is. Not Mrs H's fault I know but it makes me eye her with suspicion.

grenlei · 21/10/2020 20:29

She's an unpleasant, talentlese person who deliberately set out to make herself famous by any means possible. She tried various Insta pages but only cleaning really took off. She wasn't that into cleaning but that was the one she was stuck with.

Her money is made by basically conning a particular group, mainly women, that they NEED all the products she uses. People who are vulnerable, and often spending money they can't afford. The same people who are posting they can't afford school uniform for their kids, or new shoes, but they can buy 20 bottles of zoflora.

She manipulates her 'army' to attack others, conceals ads, plays on a false friendship with her followers, that she's just one of them and she loves them.

It's utter bullshit but they're too deluded to see it. She couldn't give a shiny shit about any of her followers while the money's rolling in.

As for relatable, she is gifted stuff left right and centre (that she doesn't need but never gives away), she lives mortgage free and is earning 24k for every 'ad' she does. She could stop all this tomorrow and still be set for life. What exactly does she have in common with any of her followers?

Oh, she also doesn't observe Covid guidelines and rules. And constantly films her child without any concern for his privacy. There's other stuff too but that's probably enough to be going along with.

StressyMcstresserson · 21/10/2020 20:31

Shes an absolutely beautiful person, inside and out. Shes built a brand and made well over a million! If I could I would, I think a lot of people are maybe jealous? Shes beautiful, kind, amazing house, what seems like a good marriage, and now successful! Smile
