It’s my day off and I’m still in bed. There’s a cat on my stomach and a dog on my feet. Dogs aren’t allowed on the beds....

Their warmth and little snores are very soothing.

Spudlet · 30/10/2020 08:39

I seem to have mislaid one of my face masks. This is vexing 😑

I’m still in bed too, MNing and watching Netflix. Now Sodding is feeling better the bed snuggles have evaporated. He’s too busy grifting for another pouch in the kitchen, pretending DH hasn’t already fed him.
Squirrel26 · 30/10/2020 09:25

I’m not in bed. But I am procrastinating. If only procrastination was my actual job. I’d be the best.

SpeedofaSloth · 30/10/2020 09:32

I could be an Olympic level procrastinator, that's probably why I spend so much time on Mumsnet.
Confused

Wanted to make breakfast bars with DS yesterday but had run out of golden syrup so made a banana cake instead. DP went to the shops yesterday evening to restock on beer and bought golden syrup as well, so we've just made a batch.

sueelleker · 30/10/2020 12:16

Mobile dog groomers came this morning; I've now got 2 sweet, clean and tidy spaniels.

MissConductUS · 30/10/2020 13:24

This was my third day in a row running in the rain, with the temperature about 3 degrees and it was miserable not a problem. I'm a slave to closing the move and exercise rings on my Apple watch. I just nipped out for a quick shop before work and it's snowing. Wet snow, but clearly snow.

I seem to have mislaid one of my face masks. This is vexing

I mislayed my favorite mask last night then found it this morning. I had thrown my raincoat into the back seat of the car yesterday and when I pulled it out this morning the mask fell to the floor of the garage.

DS's new laptop is supposed to be delivered today, well ahead of the 11 Nov. delivery date Dell first gave DH. We're not going to send it to him at uni unless his current one really dies. He can have it when he comes home for Thanksgiving.

I'm having mixed feelings about Thanksgiving this year. We usually go to my brother's house for it, and that's out this year. There's no point in making a turkey for the four of us, so we'll probably do a small ham instead. It's been such an absolutely shit awful year it's hard to be thankful, but I'm working on it. DH and I kept our jobs, and the DC are both fine and doing splendidly in uni, so there's that.

Made some progress getting the paperwork for our tax returns together. My ambition is to get it all out of the way and off to the accountant before December.

HelloDulling · 30/10/2020 13:55

I love Heinz soup.

I’ve just been to Home Bargains for the first time in months. Needed candles to go in pumpkins, got those plus some Christmas stocking bits for DD.

I finished the work that needs to be done for next week, so don’t need to fret over the weekend, or do it on Sunday night.

The Halloween cutters I ordered haven’t come; DS might have to make do with just ghost biscuits, for which we do have the cutter.

I think I can hear the basin being installed in The Never-Ending Bathroom.

Spudlet · 30/10/2020 13:59

@sueelleker Sweet smelling spaniels sound wonderful! Mine is a stinky little reprobate. Perhaps I will attack him with the shampoo and clippers tomorrow, weather permitting.

@MissConductUS We’re not going to have a turkey this Christmas, just a chicken, I think. It just feels a bit weird - I think I all our various celebrations are going to be rather subdued, sadly.

Just back from the local community woods with DS. I noticed a load of litter there last time so went equipped with bags and gloves and did a cleanup - filthy sods, leaving their tobacco packets and energy drink cans lying around (clearly embracing a healthy lifestyle). Then DS went paddling in the stream and overtopped his wellies but was very stoic about it - he has asd and I think some sensory issues around wet clothes so I was proud of him. Now we’re home and watching Howl’s Moving Castle.

soddingkitten · 30/10/2020 14:16

I like the sound of sweet smelling spaniels. I gave Sodding a new, very smelly mackerel pouch earlier and he came to give me cuddles to say thank you. His fishy mackerel breath was repulsive!

I am trying to interest DSs in (free) pumpkin carving. DS1 is grumbling about it interfering with his gaming and wants to do it tomorrow. 🙄 I’m glad not have trailed around the shops finding pristine ones.

Still raining non-stop here.

Squirrel26 · 30/10/2020 14:28

I’m looking up something for work that I always have to look up, no matter how many times I do it. I’m really not that bright.

SilkieRabbits · 30/10/2020 14:35

We are having a turkey this year for Christmas will only be 4 of us but the cat loves her 'big chicken' and sits and watches the oven.

Just had a toffee apple, I love them.

DS (ASD) has taken his annual bath Grin and off to pumpkin fields shortly. He seems excited.

Itwasgoodwhileitlasted · 30/10/2020 14:38

I'm baking banana bread. In lockdown in Wales so reliving the tradition.

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 30/10/2020 14:42

I noticed this morning that the handle on the liquidiser jug is partly melted. I'm not even going to ask about it.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 30/10/2020 15:05

I ordered two hoodies for DS and payed for them. The delivered only one. I wrote an e-mail.

It's raining here - proper november weather already.

HelloDulling · 30/10/2020 15:07

DH has just had phone consultation with the GP. He’s got sinusitis for the 809th time this year. I’ll walk down the hill and pick up his prescription in a bit. It’s already getting dark.

SilkieRabbits · 30/10/2020 15:40

I've just had a second toffee apple as vegan DD claimed they have dead beetle in them. Grin

Similar here. But I did ask. No one did it. Must have been the borrowers.
Spudlet · 30/10/2020 16:04

@HelloDulling Oh dear, your poor DH! Such a nasty thing to have. Hope he’s on the mend soon.

I have found the missing mask, it was indeed in a coat pocket. I’d checked that boat but I’d forgotten that it has an internal pocket. And my inhaler was in there too, so bonus 👍

DH is always moaning that I have too many coats so I’m considering not telling him where I found it in case he starts mumbling about charity shops again 😏

I'm prone to sinusitis too. It comes from the sinuses not draining well, so bacteria don't get flushed down to the GI tract.

A saline rinse is the answer. It removes the bacteria and the residual salt kills whatever bacteria remains. That's why salt was used to cure meat before refrigeration. I do it once a day and hardly ever get infected anymore.

I'm still at work, it feels like I have been here for approx 19hrs

DS is selling something on my FB and I've just received a message from a man with an identical name to a popular British sweet treat. I found it ridiculously amusing, DS is too cool to join in with my hilarity.

Thankssomuch · 30/10/2020 16:25

I’ve settled down on the sofa and popped on an episode of Escape To The Country. Ginny Buckley’s presenting; she’s good, but I do prefer Alistair Appleton, if I’m brutally honest.
