Thank you for your patient and nonjudgemental explanation!

You are most welcome! Smile

I do tend to pop on the thread at longer intervals, then have a lot of boring news to share, so it's perfectly understandable that it's not all scrutinized in great detail.

Haha, loving the instant traffic karma, @MissConductUS! SO satisfying on the sadly rare occasions that you get to see driving numpties get their comeuppance 👍

It has been grey and grim all day here, so we have been mostly indoors. DS and I have baked some banana bread and braved the outdoors for a bit of football and hide and seek during a dryish bit. Now he’s playing with his Lego while I Mumsnet, and ddog is locked in the kitchen because he’s driving me bananas whining for his dinner. The clock change always sends him a bit nuts.

Very tired so it’s dinner from the freezer tonight - fish cakes, oven chips and peas Blush I’ll get back on the cookery horse tomorrow...!

BasiliskStare · 29/10/2020 17:06

@Spudlet - ha ha - last night we had fishcakes chips and peas from the freezer - everyone seemed to enjoy it - long day and it served to keep the wolf from the door . This evening I shall be making chilli and my very lazy version of guacamole ( I once had a friend who made it perfectly with lots of ingredients - he was very very interested in cooking ) and his son said to him - why can't you make it like Basilisk Junior's Mum. ( Mine is mashed up ready ripe avocado with creme fraiche - his was much more complicated )

Our new airer arrived, so DS2 and I went to fetch it from Argos. We stopped off to buy pumpkins and something easy for dinner tonight on the way back. DS caught me up in the veg aisle all crestfallen saying that there were only a few carving pumpkins left and they were all damaged, but the shop assistant said he could stop off on the way out and take one for free if he could find one he liked. At the end of our shop, we returned to the pumpkin crate. The young guy helped DS rummage through it and got some blue roll to wipe all the smashed pumpkin off of a likely candidate. It turns out it was fine. I asked if we could take one for DS1 too. A bit more rummaging produced one with only minor damage that DS1 can cut around. £6 worth of carving pumpkins for 0p. 💪👍When we got back to the car, there was an Aston Martin sports car parked next to us and it started up with a roar as we unloaded the trolley. DS was thrilled and delighted (serious car nut).

Took the dc out for a muddy walk. The sky was very atmospheric

HelenaJustina · 29/10/2020 19:39

Went to work for a couple of hours, did a food shop, took a car load to the food bank (harvest festival donations) took DC to swimming lessons. Soup for dinner because it’s half term so I’m (supposed to be) on holiday too.

Thiswayorthatway · 29/10/2020 19:45

My new swimming cap arrived today. It is black.

wherethewavesarehighest · 29/10/2020 19:56

I took dd out for a walk tonight to see the halloween decorations and our neighbours solar lights weren't on.
I had a cinnamon bagel earlier and it was pretty nice toasted.

Champagneforeveryone · 29/10/2020 20:07

I had an eye test today and after 25 years of wearing the same prescription contact lens in each eye, have now been advised I will need different ones. I also had to order new glasses.

Since turning 40 I am like a National Trust property, and appear to be in constant need of refurbishment.

Day 6 of Welsh lockdown. Had a wet walk down to the river today, DS was good company, I quizzed him on his science topic-cells and muscles-while we walked.

Had chilli for supper; was not really hot enough.

sueelleker · 29/10/2020 20:10

I'm more like the Forth bridge; no sooner do you finish at one end than you have to start again at the other!

soddingkitten · 29/10/2020 20:18

Had chilli for supper; was not really hot enough.

DH made dinner on Tuesday. It looked like bolognaise and he served it on pasta*. After his first bite he said: “oh, I thought I’d used enough chilli today, but its really mild.” We were all surprised to hear it was a chili.

  • We are out of rice.
Prokupatuscrakedatus · 29/10/2020 20:21

My hair cut appointment has just been canceled.
And I ate a whole bar of nut chocolate, because I did not feel like cooking.

Purpleice · 29/10/2020 20:52

We had chilli today too. Must be a living in Wales thing. The hall is now newly painted. The rest of the house is a mess though. Off to shower with my new shampoo bar.

EggyPegg · 29/10/2020 20:59

The MILs shoes were still dirty when she went home today.

I started Ant & Dec's autobiography yesterday and finished it today. It marks 45/50 books completed for the Reading Challenge this year.

sproutsandparsnips · 29/10/2020 22:00

I, too, live in Wales. It has been a very trying day in work due to all the Covid complications (nhs). I am enjoying a little glass of wine to compensate for all the stress.
DH had cooked a lovely tea for my gratification when I got home.

Thankssomuch · 29/10/2020 22:24

I cooked dinner tonight, Bolognese. My DH was working on the house so when he asked me if I’d clear away the dinner things so that he could crack on, I said, “Okay”. Normally if I’ve cooked, he’ll clear up. But I’m not inflexible; it’s about give and take.

SilkieRabbits · 30/10/2020 02:55

We had fajitas tonight and apple cake and custard. I'm selling 2 items on ebay and both have bidders so I have an amazing minimum of 99p and £20 minus fees for 2 pieces of furniture, goes to weekend.

SilkieRabbits · 30/10/2020 02:59

DH has relisted some bricks on ebay about 10 times at the same price, he never gets any watchers but doesn't seem to have got the message that no-one is interested at that price.

Frownette · 30/10/2020 04:07

I woke up early and watched The Crow movie. I was wondering if crows would make good pets and love the soundtrack.

I'd got me and one of my best friends matching tops which arrived today but I don't know whether to get her to come here or whether to go there. We're an hour apart and I love her to death.

I'll text her later and see what she thinks :)

Nomnomarrgh · 30/10/2020 07:42

My dd set the alarm to go off at two. She thought it would be two pm. I had to explain about old-style clocks when it went off in the early hours

Deathraystare · 30/10/2020 07:43

Still not been bloody well paid. What are they doing with it???

Had to have tomato soup for dinner as now, whenever I work late-ish as soon I get home someone else dashes into the kitchen. I don't like to eat too late so decided that when I could eventually get in there I would just heat up some Heinz tomato soup. Luckily I like it!

SilkieRabbits · 30/10/2020 08:04

Just watched an Olaf video on DisneyPlus, had a cup of tea. DH is having a shower. DS had fed the chickens. Going to pumpkin field later.

Orangeblossom7777 · 30/10/2020 08:21

The DCs love tomato soup, had that for lunch yesterday. That or toasties.

Might be going to a reclamation yard if the rain holds off today. Just to do something over half term.

HelenaJustina · 30/10/2020 08:33

Planning another longish walk with DC today (their 5th of the half term) but no one is dressed yet.
