My Neighbour Totoro is a lovely one!

Orangeblossom7777 · 24/10/2020 15:02

Listening to both DS's talking to different friends on Minecraft. Keep catching snippets...

Windy outside. This was predicted, so went for a walk before it happened (smug) now inside under a rug like an old dear.

Champagneforeveryone · 24/10/2020 15:18

I am meal planning and grocery budgeting. Startled to find out that we have spent over £55 on milk this month.

In other news, it is raining again.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 24/10/2020 15:22

We've just eaten and DH has abandoned his paper sorting task for today.
It's supposed to be not raining today and so far the forcast is right.

OldLeatherSuitcase · 24/10/2020 15:50

Prokup like your DH I've also abandoned my paper sorting task! I get overwhelmed by it too. I'm sometimes tempted to burn it all to make it go away.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 24/10/2020 15:55

Oldleather
I've offered to do it for him - I am an admin person without a creative bone in my body - unlike the rest of my family. But I am good at organizing information. But no - he's vanished into his office to listen to music and 'write a book'.

dolphinpose · 24/10/2020 16:21

I've just watched a cheesy Christmas film on the Sony Christmas Movies channel.Really bad afternoon made for TV movies are my secret vice.

(Have also been boringly productive today)

MissConductUS · 24/10/2020 16:34

I had my covid swab. I had to wait about 20 minutes in the drive-through line, which I wasn't expecting. The nurse was a bit more agressive with the swab than she needed to be to get a good sample but I restrained myself and didn't say anything.

I'm off to the shops in a bit.

I’m feeling cold (although apparently it’s 16C outside), so the wood burner is now lit.

I have just eaten another croissant, this time filled with ham and cheese. This time I took it out of the oven at just the right time.

Spudlet · 24/10/2020 17:16

DH is lighting our log burner too. It’s not especially cold, but it looks cheerful when it’s going. I am feeling smug because I walked ddog through the wind, which is now properly howling around out there.

APurpleSquirrel · 24/10/2020 17:17

I had to do a radio interview this morning for BBC Radio Somerset about a Halloween event our PTA are holding.

OrangeGinLemonFanta · 24/10/2020 17:19

I made spaghetti carbonara for dinner, and both the DC are actually eating it. As DD claims not to like pasta, and DS doesn't like sitting down for a meal at all, this is as surprising as it is welcome.

HelloDulling · 24/10/2020 17:24

Tesco have just delivered my shopping, minus the gin. We are in Wales, so only supposed to shop for essentials. It feels like they are doing it in purpose (he did bring wine, but still!)

OrangeGinLemonFanta · 24/10/2020 17:27

Gin is essentials.

MissConductUS · 24/10/2020 17:28

That's quite exciting actually

I adore the BBC World Service. My National Public Radio station in New York plays their news overnight and also on the hour during weekend days. Just to show you what an Anglophile I've become I've given Siri a British accent. Grin

I've just placed an order for more business cards for my dog-walking business. My own dog has just farted.

HelloDulling · 24/10/2020 17:41

When my bathroom is finished (in about 40 years), sharing a picture of it will be far to exciting for this thread, I fear. I might start a new thread, and then just share the link.

SpeedofaSloth · 24/10/2020 20:04

Claudia's dress on Strictly tonight is very nice.

SpeedofaSloth · 24/10/2020 20:05

We don't have a woodburner, we have a fake electric one and when the lights are on, it does feel cosier. The lights are on now.

OldLeatherSuitcase · 24/10/2020 20:14

Prokupatuscrakedatus I think I'm a weird mix of you and your DH - I'm good at admin and good at organising info, but I also like to try and be creative and often head into my office 'to write a book'. However, I find browsing the internet or coming on MN suddenly seems much more urgent and the book never gets written.

Very kind of you to volunteer to help him with his papers. I don't mind papers once I get started - finally sorted mine now.

OldLeatherSuitcase · 24/10/2020 20:16

Just realised I'm sounding completely contrary, saying I get overwhelmed by papers then not minding them once I get started. I think it's the thought of doing it that overwhelms me, but then once I get stuck in I'm ok with it.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 24/10/2020 20:34

Old LeatherSuitcase I'd love to be a mix, but I am not.
He actually does write the books or edits and redacts them (literary science) and his PC files are exemplary - it's just paper he can't cope with Grin.
All the paper from his office floor is currently spread out on the futon sofa and will remain there for a while.

MissConductUS · 24/10/2020 22:02

I am going to test your theory @HelloDulling

This is the shower we had redone in August. Note that while there is a frame for a shower door, there is no door. The crack team of shower door professionals dropped it last weekend during the installation, creating a huge mess of broken glass.

After much chasing up by DH, they said the replacement would be installed today. Alas, the shower door gods did not smile on us, and the truck was delayed. Now we're going to try for Tuesday when I will be home recovering from the anestesia used during my upcoming colonoscopy.

We are very pleased with the new shower itself.

In other news, a woman tried to take my shopping cart (trolley) at Shoprite today. I was in the produce department, with just some apples, a bag of cole slaw and four dark green reusable shopping bags in the cart. The bags were a gift from the builder who replaced our roof two years ago, and are quite prominently marked with his logo and company name.

As I am checking my shopping list in Alexa a woman strides up to me and says quite sharply "Excuse me, that's my cart!". So I picked up one of the bags and said "Did Mark replace your roof too?" She gave me a look like thunder and walked off.

DJ and I tried to go for a drink in our local pub, only to find there were no tables

We drove into town and had a very pleasant evening in a different pub that did have a table. Tomorrow I will walk DDog2 to pick up the car while DH is at church.

I also received a message from my robot hoover ("Dog") to say he had dirty drop sensors. This was surprising as he was tucked up in his bed at the time.
