@MissConductUS, I usually stay up to about 2am anyway which is the time it began over here. I managed to watch about 45 min. I am on the Trump thread - here's a link

@4amWitchingHour

De-lurking.

Our new neighbours are moving in opposite, but I can't nosy out the window at them as DS (12 weeks) is sleeping on me.

Welcome, and may I say that your de-lurking post was spot on for the thread? Smile

I am also being held captive by my cat Mingus, who recently climbed up onto my lap, rammed his head into my face a few times and is currently lying across my shoulder.

It's just noon here. I think I'll have some freah chicken noodle soup I picked up at the warehouse club. It's from a nice chain restaraunt, the same one where DD works part time.

DD seems a bit crabby today. I don't know if it's because mum is home and she has to share the house or if she's annoyed that her brother is getting a new laptop and she isn't. Hers is only two years old, his is four years old. Perhaps it's both.

Raining.

I wanted to be virtuous and do the laundry but there isn't a full load neither in the 40 nor in the 60 basket, so I can't be. But the intention was there!!

Ah, yes, the Trump thread(s), Smile

I have lurked a few times. There is some interesting discussion there, but also a fair amount of misunderstanding about American politics and political culture. I've never posted because I don't want to be the only Yank on the thread. When I lurk I feel like I'm eavesdropping somehow.

I also get an overload of US politics in daily life. I came to MN to immerse a bit in UK culture.

I am on annual leave for half term. I plan to sleep as much as I can, TBH.

TheSilveryPussycat · 23/10/2020 18:31

There a fair few Yanks on there, they post links to articles we over here would otherwise never find ourselves. They explain political system and culture. In fact I would say they take the leading role. They are currently on thread 106 as you can see from the above link. More input from others in US would be very welcome I'm sure Smile.

TenCornMaidens · 23/10/2020 18:39

Made cookies. Did a wordsearch which honestly felt like a brain holiday. Might do a bit of knitting.

OldLeatherSuitcase · 23/10/2020 19:03

I love this thread. I enjoy all these mild, calming updates from you all.

Part of me wants to send lots of individual responses to say 'oo really' or 'that sounds nice' or 'hahahaha' or whatever, but I'm too lazy.

I wish we had various like / love / hahaha buttons etc here.

Some of them, like HoldMyLobster are Brit ex-pats who live in the US. I really like her. She was one of my first friends on MN.

I'll have another lurk and see if I can contribute anything.

Well. I have been in Welsh lockdown for just over an hour now. Don’t feel different yet.

Just finishing off my Tesco order for tomorrow. So glad we get priority slots because of DH’s chest problems.

soddingkitten · 23/10/2020 19:40

@Orangeblossom7777

I saw two huge dogs on my walk yesterday. A great big grey shaggy one and a huge Great Bernard type one.

Looked like could eat me. All I could think was how much do they eat and how do they find room for them?

When I see dogs like that I wonder how hideous it is to scoop up after them on walks. 🤮

Sodding has been poorly, bad enough to require vet treatment and laid very low for a couple of days. We are cautious but think he’s showing early signs of perking up even though he’s still not eating.

TheSilveryPussycat · 23/10/2020 19:55

I did some washing. It is now draped over various bits of furniture.

There was a blooming tissue in the washing, noone else to blame but me BlushAngry

MissConductUS · 23/10/2020 20:06

Poor Sodding! What did the vat say was wrong with him?

tiredandgrumpyx · 23/10/2020 20:20

We bled the radiators and now the back bedroom is heating up much better

soddingkitten · 23/10/2020 20:29

DH took him and had to wait in the car park (COVID measures) while he was examined in the clinic. Gastroenteritis seems most likely, though he’ll have to go back for more tests if he isn’t brighter tomorrow.

Taswama · 23/10/2020 21:02

It was busy at work today, five people in my office (usually three on a Friday).
We have finally agreed to buy a sideboard after discussing it on and off for the past three years.

Taswama · 23/10/2020 21:04

I too love this thread, but am happy there's no like etc button, I think there'd be less chitchat if there was.

Spudlet · 23/10/2020 21:14

Oh, poor little Sodding! Hopefully he’s just had a nibble of something a bit minging and will be back on form soon 🤞

soddingkitten · 23/10/2020 21:20

The dull news would stray into more and more eye-catching news in pursuit of likes. Likes would be entirely detrimental to the pleasingly low bar we have set for updates.

My dull news is that my day-old Danish custard crown was underwhelming and I regret the calories.

Also, it is unexpectedly draughty in this room and I’m at the limit of what I can bear. I’m decamping to the other room with its fierce radiator and wool throws.

Squirrel26 · 23/10/2020 21:26

I am washing some bed linen. It's almost finished.
Just had some caramel sea salt flavoured chocolate. I got it free with my shopping because they sent me a voucher.

Squirrel26 · 23/10/2020 21:27

(I don't buy such fancy chocolate when I'm paying. I buy whatever's on special offer.)

OublietteBravo · 23/10/2020 21:30

I emptied the bin in my shredder and lubricated the shredder blades.

Helocariad · 23/10/2020 21:32

Yep, @HelloDulling, also in Firebreak lockdown over here. It's VERY quiet 🤫 in the street.

LoeliaPonsonby · 23/10/2020 21:34

The guinea pigs have shat in their cabbage leaf.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 23/10/2020 22:38

I accidentally fell asleep over a book and now I am wide awake.

All my best to Sodding!
