Just thought I'd add have tried Gin (in absence of Brandy or Whiskey) and may be working as cure for rumbly tum? Brandy / Whiskey would have been a shot; difficult to drink Gin (if not Genever) same so obviously have mixed Double in balloon glass with 'naice' tonic and ice. Unfortunately, haven't got any lime so had to do with slice of Lemon. Sigh.

HelenaJustina · 23/10/2020 06:39

It’s my wedding anniversary today. We have no big exciting plans.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 23/10/2020 08:17

MrsGRamsay
DGGF (a Frisian) used Genever as a cure for everything apart from mining accidents and the tradition is still going strong. I simply double the dose for gin and leave out the tonic.

Apart from that, I started my day off with some housework.
DS will restart school on stage yellow, meaning he has to wear a mask during lessons, too (Sek II). So I am preparing the proper equippment ready to take with him.

Orangeblossom7777 · 23/10/2020 08:30

Now after buying the new trousers for school PE, the school has emailed to say that one year group can now change for PE as usual. So can wear the normal uniform. It's DS's year group.

Spudlet · 23/10/2020 08:35

@Prokupatuscrakedatus Is there a difference between gin and genever then? I’ve just finished a murder mystery book set in 17th century Delft and people kept talking about genenver, I just assumed it was gin by another name.

Champagneforeveryone · 23/10/2020 08:38

The phrase "a cure for everything except mining accidents" really tickled me Grin

You'll all be pleased to hear that DH is much recovered. It's a bit like living with Lazarus TBH.

I have a chiropractor appointment later and have just put the dog bowls in the dishwasher.

It is raining.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 23/10/2020 08:44

@spudlet
Yes, genever is traditionally made from a different basis (akin to whisky), whereas gin is based on a neutral basis (like wodka). The production process is different, too. But I do not have the English vocabulary for this.

Squirrel26 · 23/10/2020 08:49

I had a dream last night that I was searching for the source of an annoying buzzing noise. It turned out to be my alarm.

Spudlet · 23/10/2020 08:52

@Prokupatuscrakedatus Well, I did not know that. Every day a school day here! Smile

OrtamLeevz · 23/10/2020 09:36

The Japanese maple in my garden has turned a lovely bright red.

Orangeblossom7777 · 23/10/2020 09:51

I saw two huge dogs on my walk yesterday. A great big grey shaggy one and a huge Great Bernard type one.

Looked like could eat me. All I could think was how much do they eat and how do they find room for them?

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 23/10/2020 11:09

I just spend 1,5 h working from home taking part in a training session.
Now I need to clean stuff that can't go in the dishwasher.

Squirrel26 · 23/10/2020 11:18

I could do with a new cardigan, but there is no cardigan money in the budget until I get paid next week.

kittensarecute · 23/10/2020 11:57

We're having a new tumble dryer delivered tomorrow. Our old one has finally given up the ghost after many years of loyal service.

MissConductUS · 23/10/2020 13:46

WFH today. The HVAC bloke is back to figure out where the refrigerant is leaking from our central AC system and replace a thermostat that's been dodgy.

I had an awesome run this morning, it was my best pace in months and when I weighed myself I found I'd lost 3 pounds in the last two weeks. Smile

My tooth is feeling a bit better since I started the antibiotics so I guess the cracked root is infected. I'm still off to see my other dentist to get my crown put back on this afternoon. I have his brownies cut up and wrapped on a paper plate to take over for him and his office staff.

@KoalaRabbit your cat is adorable and I like her style, taking over the bed. That's cattitude.

@TheSilveryPussycat If you're in the UK you must be quite the night owl. The debate didn't start until 9:00 PM here, which I think is 1:00 in the UK.

DH is ready to order DS's new laptop. I don't want to know how much it will cost as DH spoils the kids when it comes to technology and since he works in IT, nothing but the best will do when it comes to laptops.

Took DS and ddog geocaching this morning. I downloaded the app a while ago, but this was the first time we tried it. It was a bit of a hit with DS, although we forgot to take a pen to write on the little bits of paper!

MrsWooster · 23/10/2020 15:19

spudlet I’m debating seeing if the kids want to try geocaching-it excited me but doesn’t involve screens, so likely to get a resounding raspberry from them. Maybe if they follow the clues on my iPhone it may fool them?
I’m going to try the slow cooker this weekend; currently it’s only function is to skulk in the bottom cupboard and make me feel guilty, but I’ve got chicken drumsticks coming on the shop and I’m fired with zeal.

MrsWooster · 23/10/2020 15:19

Its. How annoying.

Spudlet · 23/10/2020 15:31

DS is still little enough to be enticed by calling it a treasure hunt, fortunately... the app is quite cool though, it has a little compass function and things. Do you think that might get them interested, maybe?

TrickyD · 23/10/2020 15:43

For the last couple of weeks I have barely been able to walk a few yards without clutching at something for support. This morning the cardiology clinic tweaked my Pacemaker settings and I am back to normal.

OldLeatherSuitcase · 23/10/2020 16:08

I've just been for a smear test. On the way home I bought myself some chocolate eclairs. I've just eaten one in bed and gave my soft little grey kitten some of the cream. Now she's purring and snuggling me.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 23/10/2020 16:15

I just got an e-mail with the date for my foot repair surgery and the hospital where it will be performed.
Which is slightly exciting, but not, bec. it is in December when work is low and I can't go anywhere because of C.

4amWitchingHour · 23/10/2020 16:21

De-lurking.

Our new neighbours are moving in opposite, but I can't nosy out the window at them as DS (12 weeks) is sleeping on me.

vanillandhoney · 23/10/2020 16:56

I ordered a new Sherpa blanket for the sofa which arrived today. The idea was that my old blanket would go to the dog but he seems to have decided that he has to share the new one Grin

Scaramoomoo · 23/10/2020 17:03

Love these!
Just raked leaves and sitting in the garden with a book smugly contemplating the raked grass.
