First day of half term here today, so we didn’t rush around this morning. Unfortunately this means that I am now stuck in my dressing gown with very wet hair while DH has a highly important work Skype in our bedroom 🙈 I just want to get dressed now.

Feeling really low this morning generally, hoping to cheer up a bit later on. Enjoying reading all your news though. @Champagneforeveryone tell your plague carrying DH to self-isolate in the shed!

Orangeblossom7777 · 22/10/2020 11:53

Listening to the radio and a song with jingly bells has come on. Too soon for Christmas songs!

EggyPegg · 22/10/2020 14:05

Day 2 of half term here. We had a lazy day yesterday owing to the torrential rain, so the DC needed to get out today. It's blue skies and very autumnal feeling. Invited a friend each of the DC to join us at the park, which kept them out of my, and each others hair.

Since coming home (and dispatching friends to their houses), we have had lunch. DS1 is now ensconced in my bedroom watching Age of Ultron for approximately the 26th time, and DS2 is here in the playroom playing with Lego. I have a cup of tea, my Kindle and a Bounty.

FawnDrench · 22/10/2020 14:52

DH put the heating on for me before he went to work, so it was lovely and warm when I awoke.

I may have stayed in bed enjoying the cosiness rather longer than I should have.

It has finally stopped raining and is bright and sunny this afternoon - a lovely fresh autumn day to enjoy out with the dog.

Listened to Glenn Miller tunes over lunch and had brief but bracing walk afterwards.

Orangeblossom7777 · 22/10/2020 15:05

Feeling stir crazy at home with two teens...going to leave them to their screens and go for a walk and to the shops.

Champagneforeveryone · 22/10/2020 15:18

As predicted, DH is "feeling much better" Hmm

SecretWitch · 22/10/2020 15:24

I thought about washing the curtains. Decided not to. Reading MN and having tea instead.

It was likely fall allergies, which can mimic cold symptoms. He would not have cleared an actual virus that quickly. The next time it happens put him on over the counter antihistamines and tell him to man up about it.

My tooth with the cracked root that has to come out has started to bother me but the oral surgeon is completely booked until my appointment on 2 11. I'll start antibiotics if it gets any worse and hope that holds me over.

It was so foggy here that when I ran my LED headlamp was almost useless and I could only see 10 yards or so in front of me. It's a good thing I didn't run into a tree. Smile

Champagneforeveryone those man PJs sound great, it's a shame the women's were frilly!

MissConductUS I'll check out Lands End for PJs.

I need to go and make a meatball pasta bake and apply for a job and I can't be bothered to do either of those things!

TheSilveryPussycat · 22/10/2020 16:25

I had a nice walk (though it was short). Trying to find some allotments that I know are around here somewhere, but no luck.

Champagneforeveryone · 22/10/2020 16:49

Ah missconduct if only that were the case. However the trooper already takes a daily antihistamine for allergies unknown so it's not that.

He's walking with slightly smaller steps than normal, presumably because he's too weak to take proper man sized ones.

BusyDreaming · 22/10/2020 16:53

I’ve just pulled some home grown celery from the veg patch.
It has the texture of corrugated iron.
It’s for the minestrone soup that I couldn’t be bothered making the other day.
Not sure it’s got much value add but as I’ve gone to the effort of growing it, I have to use it.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 22/10/2020 17:20

Just came home and only had 2 carrots to eat an no break. I have nicked one of the 'teenage emergency frozen pizzas' and will eat this when it's done.

DS will go to the bank tomorrow to make sure that he can access his bank account online when he turns 18 next week. DH will go with him.

Taswama · 22/10/2020 17:47

I recently rediscovered MC Solaar, a French artist I listened to years ago (I had an album on tape!). I had a lovely run with him today, not a bad pace.

SpeedofaSloth · 22/10/2020 17:57

I am wearing leggings under a dress today, I felt very snuggly while working from home.

The bath had been installed. I repeat: the bath has been installed.

I work in a school and get lunch provided during term time. We’re on HT this week, but I had to go in so bought myself an M& S falafel salad. No time to eat it all day, so just had it now. Was really delicious, but I will still have dinner later with DH, of course.

This is big news! How's the floor looking?

I think it's a trick. They've probably setup up a hologram in your bathroom.

Have you actually used the bath yet? If not, it's probably not connected to water or the drain and they'll have to come back to fix it. Grin

I just ate a packet of smoky bacon crisps AND a snickers and now I feel a bit sick.

Engineers that plan stuff with cables are always quietly working but those that plan stuff with pipes and vents and fans and things are always loudly discussing things - right next to my desk. And bc the do SD they speak louder through their masks.

OldLeatherSuitcase · 22/10/2020 18:48

The bath is in?! That's very exciting news!

DH has just put a wash on which is highly controversial as we usually do all the washing at the weekend.

I've just been offered a job that I don't want.

forgetthehousework · 22/10/2020 19:17

Our gas boiler has finally given up after over forty years.

Spudlet · 22/10/2020 19:27

I couldn’t find the proper ice pack for my sore foot, so I’m using a cool pack from the picnic bag that escaped my half-hearted freezer clearance earlier this year. I’m not sure if it’s quite as effective as the ice pack, being as it’s rectangular, and my foot is not.
