I've finished my first load of laundry and now the towels are in to wash. I've fed the animals and they're all sleeping while I watch the Jungle Book (the original one, of course).

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 20/10/2020 16:43

Icelandic is a fascinating language!!!!

DS has a virtual appointment with his therapist tomorrow.
I have the time and the TAN, but no invitation as yet.
DD will help him, bc. I am at work.

@Frownette You can put your face masks in a bowl and pour hot water >90°C on them immerse for 10 minutes or take a hot iron.
Anything over 70°C disposes of any remnants.

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 20/10/2020 17:10

Yes, wash your facemark at whatever temperature you're doing a full load and then go over then with a steam iron. The wash will clean and the steam will sterilise.

Nydj · 20/10/2020 17:12

@Frownette

Oooh more deck! Very pretty.

The washable facemasks play havoc with your wash, I put one load on at 60°c then went to do a delicate wash next at 30°c and realised I'd forgotten to put facemasks in the higher temp one, so disposable it is for now.

Why do you need to wash them at high temps? I thought the soap and warm water was enough to destroy any Covidy bits?
OldLeatherSuitcase · 20/10/2020 17:14

I've just walked to co op to buy fruit. I also bought some chorizo.

Now I'm sitting in bed reading MN. But I ought to go and feed the cats.

Nydj · 20/10/2020 17:17

I have had to reprint some forms for boring admin stuff that I had printed a few weeks ago and lost. I haven’t done anything rash like actually completing the forms yet.

Specialgodson · 20/10/2020 17:56

I hung 4 pictures and only hit my finger twice.
Sitting by the fire now admiring them and hoping they don’t fall off. DDog is sitting by the fire too but I don’t thinking anything at all after a 2.5 hour walk.

SunscreenCentral · 20/10/2020 17:58

Had a nice coffee chatting with the kids in the kitchen earlier, making Hallowe’en plans... then I went to the fridge and discovered that the bar of special chocolate 🍫 that I’d put in there was still there minus 2 squares (which is fine).

A fine example of the triumph of hope over experience.

vanillandhoney · 20/10/2020 18:10

I've found you can just watch the Halloween episodes of the Simpsons on Disney+ without having to search them all individually.

The beagle is once again curled up by my feet and is sighing dramatically because I won't share my carrot cake.

forgetthehousework · 20/10/2020 21:06

Mmmmmmm, carrot cake ...

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 20/10/2020 21:53

I never had carrot cake ...

Frownette · 20/10/2020 21:56

@Prokupatuscrakedatus oh god of course, I've been so dozy today! Blush

I was at the supermarket earlier and had a mind blank about what I'd gone in for. Then got back, put the kettle on and put out a cup for tea. Then put out a cup for coffee. Then realised.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 20/10/2020 22:28

@Frownette

To calm you Smile- yesterday I made I nice cozy hot water bottle to warm my bed.
Only to find out that I had used cold water when turning in.

(And DS got wind of it ...)

MissConductUS · 20/10/2020 23:20

@Prokupatuscrakedatus

I never had carrot cake ...
Carrot cake is quite nice, especially with cream cheese icing.

Today is my last day of work before 8 days leave.

Normally this would be far too exciting for this thread, thankfully as I thunder towards my 3rd cancelled holiday of the year it falls firmly into the dull and unexciting category Grin

HelenaJustina · 21/10/2020 06:29

I’ve been up since 5.45am as I woke up thinking about staffing rotas for indoor/wet play. Haven’t resolved the problem yet so fingers crossed for light drizzle only so the little cherubs can play outside.

HelloDulling · 21/10/2020 06:45

Having my nails done this morning before the Welsh lockdown starts on Friday.

Will pick up a parcel on the way home. It’s a religious text sent my my godmother.

The work on the bathroom continues at a snail’s pace. Today they may lay the plywood for the floor.

I did this with some bought reusable masks and polyester bias binding around the edges melted. If this is how yours are constructed, put something like a cotton pillowcase or hanky over the top to protect them.
Frownette · 21/10/2020 07:46

I've just eaten scrambled eggs on toast and a chocolate bar. Now with my tea.

KoalaRabbit · 21/10/2020 08:21

I've just eaten frosties and bought a teal sofa.

HelloDulling · 21/10/2020 08:33

Just had a new type of yogurt with granola. Will not buy again.

Sorry @KoalaRabbit, frosties are far too exciting for this thread. Cornflakes, now, have just the right level of dullness while still tasting nice.
MissConductUS · 21/10/2020 11:32

I'm having yogurt with granola right now, but I buy them separately. I've been getting Bob's Red Mill Honey Oat granola on Amazon and it's delicious.

When I had my annual physical exam with my new GP last summer she recommended switching from non-fat to whole milk yogurt, so I have and the extra richness is lovely

Re the mask sterilization, the virus is fairly fragile. The detergent should kill it in the wash by destroying the outer coat that holds it together. You should also use the hottest water setting the fabrics will withstand. The viral fragments are no longer infectious. If you use a tumble dryer the heat from the dryer will also kill it.

I usually hand wash the masks in hot soapy water with a few drops tea tree oil possibly superstitious but it sounds like I need to up my mask-washing game. I knew mask-management would be an issue for me - I am useless at household management in general so why would this be different! Grin But will try not to become ruffled.

Have just tidied a pile of shoes into a box. The pile has been there for about two years (earlier point proven).

Spudlet · 21/10/2020 12:09

I went to the garden centre for a coffee with one of the school mums. First time I’ve sat inside for a coffee since at least March! I also bought an aloe vera, which seemed quite small in the garden centre but which is now taking up quite a lot of space on the hearth. And I have some brownies baking in the oven, to fuel us through half term.

I really should get my laptop out and do the Tesco shop, but I am comfy now... Hmm
