Seems to have shut up shop as from this morning.

Hmm, so yet another place used primarily by women has been closed seemingly after a campaign orchestrated by some on here and Reddit.
Certain posters seem determined to do the TRAs and MRAs work for them and it's starting to look deliberate.

that was the post. yes your right you did not use the word "safe".
but you still seem upset that a place that deliberately targeted posters on mn has gone.

Roussette · 13/10/2020 09:51

What you are not saying Smilesy during the existence of that site, there was no retaliation here, no chance to be able to speak out at stuff that was just not true. I saw it time and time again. Posters over there could say what they want, make up stuff about posters here and there was no right of reply. But now there is because the site is gone.

Reading between the lines, yet again, aggrieved posters who were banned or walked away are blaming posters from here for getting them banned or 'manipulating the mods'. That is just ridiculous, I have read this endlessly. What a cop out. If you are banned, that is down to you. Take it up with the forum admin that bans you, not spend the best part of six months daily attacking posters because you think 'they got you banned'.

If i didn't agree with, or like, the moderation on a forum I would not stay. You cannot blame the posters on a forum for the moderation by its HQ.

@alabamawhirly1 please do bore off.
As I said before, I do hope this is being kept an eye on so we don't get an influx of displaced nastiness here.

JessJonesJumps · 13/10/2020 10:11

I had hoped there might be some genuine engagement about the campaigns of harassment being orchestrated against MN and gc women.
But it seems some refuse to see and condemn what Reddit is because it doesn't affect them. And everyone seems happy to say the bullying and doxing on here and Reddit isn't their responsibility whilst claiming the opposite of the other site.
I know I've consistently called out bullying, doxing, racism , misogyny and harassment on every site I'm a member of and in RL. I see now that it's naive to expect that same consistency from others.
I'll leave you to whatever this is - because it's definitely clearer now what this thread is and isn't.

GetOffYourHighHorse · 13/10/2020 10:25

'And everyone seems happy to say the bullying and doxing on here and Reddit isn't their responsibility whilst claiming the opposite of the other site.'

Yes it is extraordinary that the c&p of threads from mn to mc is frowned upon here, the trolling and harassment of posters rightly critcised yet we have a dedicated reddit forum that does just that and it's fine. They all even look down their noses on mc for trolling mn! Confused.

Maybe they should practise what they preach, although self awareness isn't some people's strong point..

Roussette · 13/10/2020 10:33

Well, I suppose for me, and being honest here, I wasn't targetted on Reddit as far as I know, so I can't police all the internet, and was too busy coping with what I was putting up with from t'other site.

I'm not sure who 'they' are Hmm
I do call out bullying, racism and unfair posts on here but obviously I'm just on certain threads and don't see everything.

Samcro · 13/10/2020 10:47

I thought this was a thread about mc? what has Reddit got to do with it?
genially confused.
I have to say I have never seen reddit spam mn looking for new members,

GetOffYourHighHorse · 13/10/2020 10:54

'thought this was a thread about mc? what has Reddit got to do with itgenially confused.I have to say I have never seen reddit spam mn looking for new members,'

Links used to be posted frequently until people got banned for doing it.

It is just the same, c&p threads from mn, trolling and harassing mumsnetters, arranging pile ons. Of course none of us can 'police' the Internet but if you are going to object to one site like mc doing it let's be consistent and object to others that do it too. I bet some on here wanging on about mc are over on reddit doing just the same.

Samcro · 13/10/2020 10:58

well for me, I posted about mc as thats what the thread was about.
also that is where I was targeted.
why not go post on reddit and tell them? seems odd to do what about on here.

I completely agree with Getoff.

Roussette · 13/10/2020 11:08

OK GetOff I object.
No one should be trolled, doxxed, abused and ridiculed. It's horrible.

But you can't blame those that this has happened to on MC for not bringing it up on this thread.

Hardly fair.

GetOffYourHighHorse · 13/10/2020 11:20

'No one should be trolled, doxxed, abused and ridiculed. It's horrible. But you can't blame those that this has happened to on MC for not bringing it up on this thread. Hardly fair.'

No of course I don't blame them. It was in response to someone suggesting I go to a site that targets me and tell them to stop.

As you said you can't police the Internet, but if you (generally not you personally) object to one site that c&p from mn and targets posters, object to them all. Or else it's hypocritical.

BrilliantStarz · 13/10/2020 11:30

@GetOffYourHighHorse, that doxxing sub closed down months ago. The truly awful posters from there went to MC, although it's just possible some of them are on mn.

GetOffYourHighHorse · 13/10/2020 11:41

Oh but brilliantstarz that doxxing sub is still there, c&p from here and targeting mumsnetters! I don't care for myself but it's the vulnerable posters who need support and get mocked that I feel sorry for.

Anyway, 29 pages criticising another site for attacking mn is great! Let's just have zero tolerance for those from other platforms, not just mc, who try to stick the boot in.

@GetOffYourHighHorse

Hmmm and were you on mc? And did you call out the continual mocking and unpleasant posts about us we have talked about?
If you weren't, fine. If you were, well...it works all ways

Janegrey333 · 13/10/2020 11:51

I see there is a different notice available to view at the Other Place. The excerpt below is interesting:

a couple of members were particularly unpleasant to me and I don't have the time for it.

Oh well, at least two posters know they were partly responsible.

OP posts:
Janegrey333 · 13/10/2020 11:52

The quotation comes from the statement by Admin.

OP posts:
BrilliantStarz · 13/10/2020 12:26

@GetoffYourHighHorse you are mistaken. If that sub is still there, then it is hidden and with new mod accounts as they were all banned. Mainly for doxxing, bullying and harassment. If the admin on the failed MC site had been half as responsive as those on MN and reddit, she might still have a forum.

GetOffYourHighHorse · 13/10/2020 12:43

'you are mistaken. If that sub is still there, then it is hidden and with new mod accounts '

Oh no you're mistaken! (How long shall we do this for Grin). I'd link but would get banned, as they all found out. I'm regularly slated on there. I shouldn't look but it amuses me, they aren't intelligent enough to take me on on here without getting deleted.

The thing that does bother me is the vulnerable people on here who are mocked then come across it there as it is a public site. How distressing and damaging would that be to be sgruggling with bereavement or an abusive relationship and to see it being picked apart?

Again, we can't police the internet but if are having zero tolerance for mc, let's have zero tolerance for reddit. Particularly those that jump between the 2 with the sole purpose of being a pita.
