Ok thanks, I'm not on there.

Blimey it sometimes feels like being back at school. Rumours and gossip and having to keep up with it all.
I just wanna have a bit of a chat to relax in the evening, this is exhausting 🤣

'Can we all try and look forward now? is there any chance of that?'

Did you see this comment from a pp? You seem very intent on giving a blow by blow account.

However if you're going to criticise one site for targeting mumsnetters and trolling them it would seem ironic to quote from another that is equally as bad.

I don't understand this thread. Is Mumsnet closing down?

BullshitVivienne · 12/10/2020 21:42

Someone is very invested in the ins and outs of something that a 'friend' has done...

No not Mumsnet, it was another site that some posters liked as well as Mumsnet but alas it is no more.
Hokeywokey · 12/10/2020 21:46

I'll end up with RSI if this carries on for much longer

Why is that questionable to you? Do you not have friends? No one you worry about And I've no clue about her saying she had been on here and banned that's news to me. I cannot believe you are projecting and trying to take away from the very real fact that place was a cesspit of Hopkins soundalikes. That post from Millie copied above is abhorrent. I'm not going to justify myself further, it would seem you interlopers need to prove yourselves here as not part of the issues on that site, elsewise I do hope your stay will be short. We like our site here. We don't want that nasty stuff here. This is a safe space for people who have been over here and said how nasty people there were to them when they weren't even members, they should not now feel like they can't post here either.
TabithaTadpole · 12/10/2020 21:52

We like our site here. We don't want that nasty stuff here.

Ha ha, have you been on AIBU? 🤣

Alabamawhirly1 · 12/10/2020 21:58

Yes I did as she sent me links. She can be a bit precious, which is why I advised her not to join here as she would last five minutes on AIBU. But no, she hadn't posted for days and yet the same lot mentioned here just kept on bringing it up. And considering she was then banned so couldn't post, what you've said is utter rubbish, she literally couldn't post anymore for weeks. And hasn't since to my knowledge. Yet again, you seem to be excusing the racism and nastiness.
I bet if we had the type of thread here someone quoted, that site would've been so happy to slag us all to death.

The situation with your friend had nothing to do with the racist issues on that site. I have not addressed the racist issues or defended them.

I don't know about your friend being banned. Tbh I assumed she had just deregistered as she said she was going to. I agree that people kept bringing it up long after it should have been dropped. But she did keep bringing the matter up. She even started a new thread to bring up again.

Your friend was not the innocent you're making out. She made a disgusting misogynistic comment on a mums site. When she was called up on it she was really aggressive and rude. The tone of her posts were in such a way that most people assumed she was a teenage boy or MRA trolling.

She also claimed some bs that's she was taking back language while degrading another woman's genitalia.

SylviaGold · 12/10/2020 22:04

@BullshitVivienne

Someone is very invested in the ins and outs of something that a 'friend' has done...
Quite. The 'friend' clearly embellished how badly she was treated and very much underplayed how offensive her initial posts were. Many posters told her that her choice of language was misogynistic and something like a teenage boy would use out of Viz. She was very angry that her 'jokes' were deemed offensive rather than amusing and then came the personal insults.

Below are snippets of her first few posts on the thread in question and then the start of the personal attacks.

"Ah Boris has seen Carrie give birth and now that her fanny resembles a locked kebab it's inevitable he will be fucking about. She must know that surely?
They will still get married, probably just as the second wave and Brexit shitshow happens, but will divorce within a year.
She's in borrowed time that one."

"And as I say, the "other place" for humourless people who can't poke fun is on the other side of the internet.
No doubt you can go over and say how mean we are referring to minge post crotch fruit as a punched kebab and they can all slag us off some more whilst their website in about to disappear due to mismanagement."

"I'd rather sew my own minge up than shag a Tory. ???"

"Dear, if you had posted what I said in the context of the FULL post I wrote rather than cut it to suit your own condescending bullshit (and why you seem to dislike me so much I'm baffled but I really couldn't give a fuck, just scroll on when I post eh before you froth yourself silly) , you would see I said that in the context of two posts of "who would you rather shag, Boris or Gove"

If anything, you've just proven me right on humourless Tory voters. And sorry but like it or not, you voted for the current shit shower you've condemned us all to.
Not the time to be admitting voting for a party that had stood by and allowed 40,000+ deaths, and huge amount of poverty to come. And that's before Brexit.

If you want to behave like that, here's an idea, Mmsnt is clearly for you.
This forum allows humour, some of it which may make your hair curl. I won't apologise because you decided to be professionally offended by something that wasn't applying to you. Unless you're Rees Mogg or Gavin Williamson in disguise and offended that I wouldn't want to have a quick shag with you?"

And it wasn't DAYS later that posters reignited the argument, it was 12 hours later. Also, the poster who did find her crude jokes was NOT abused and she has freely admitted this.

So, here is another accusation made on this thread about the other place that is most definitely NOT TRUE. Outright lies are not conducive to the discussion here.

The site is back open now so you can all see for yourself.

Hokeywokey · 12/10/2020 22:07

The site is back open now so you can all see for yourself

Not for much longer. It's up and down like a bloody yo yo.

Roussette · 12/10/2020 22:10

@Hokeywokey

You're making me larf... I better get back to talking about Deidre from Corrie 😂

@buildingbridge
Bless you... I love it that you've come on here and asked if MN is closing. It's brought it all home to me actually.
What does all this shit matter!

Bottom line for me is... yes this is a safe place here and I've been on since dinosaurs roamed the earth
I want to go back to talking drivel on daft threads because I'm good at that Grin

As it's going to close, please do not say it's all down to MNers. The majority of people here are not members there, they have no access to a complaints procedure on that site. It's between the Admin over there and it's posters.
The Admin over there is saying it's all the fault of MN.
Easy cop out.

And that won't help a moving on process for all of us. Apportioning unfair blame on us.

Anyway onwards and upwards...

Janegrey333 · 12/10/2020 22:12

Everyone is a Gueston the other site now. Very curious.

OP posts:
MillieVanilla · 12/10/2020 22:12

As I said I'm not going to discuss it further, Im sure your nastiness is helping to weed out those of you who will no doubt now try and cause trouble here instead
@Janegrey333 might it be time to have this thread closed before those lot start making here as nasty as there?
It's gone or going and I for one am pleased it's caused its own demise. I'm sure from seeing some posts here I'm not alone in that theory.

Hokeywokey · 12/10/2020 22:14

The Admin just needs to shut it. I need an early night.

Couldn't agree more. They refuse to see it's their dodgy management of it, the allowing certain people to run wild and be steadily more nasty as time went on. To blame here is just the icing on a cake. It's like that awful Shaggy song, it wasn't me but the forum edition Grin

Shooglywheel · 12/10/2020 22:41

I think the filing of a police report was a contributing factor. It’s mentioned on here.

As far as I understand it, and from what I've discovered elsewhere, there was a considerable number of members who joined but posted very little, if at all. Who knows who those people were or why they joined? But whoever they were, they would have had ample opportunity to complain endlessly should they have wished. Possibly genuinely on occasion. But it is also possible that there were many complaints that were deliberately vexatious, or indeed done as a targeted campaign to get the site shut down.

I know where I'm putting my money.

HeIenaDove · 12/10/2020 22:58

Helena I believe you go on the Westminsterenders threads in the Brexit topic. Plenty of times leavers were regarded as a big homogenous mass who were called thick and racist. The rumour about Boris being unfaithful was discussed and one poster said “I hope it’s true”.
There have been some very unpleasant threads when posters are attacked en masse by the thread regulars.
Do you think that’s acceptable

Do I? Its news to me. Heres an idea There is an AS function on this site yet an incredible reluctance to use it all of a sudden. You could try doing that Just an idea.

Oh and my DM isnt British I also voted Remain.

Its not a board i frequent yet i bet im expected to give up my RL life entirely and read all the threads on there now

If you think im that good perhaps i should be a mod on here!!

Roussette · 12/10/2020 22:59

Not guilty, guv!

Not on there, never wanted to be. Each to their own.

You don't know, we don't know.

Saying MNers possibly targeted the site to shut it own isn't going to build bridges. Because that's not necessarily the case.
