Seems to have shut up shop as from this morning.

This mod outing stuff is weird.

HeIenaDove · 12/10/2020 02:32

Why are they doing it FFS

Notsayingnothin · 12/10/2020 07:42

It started off well but it quickly became a very uncomfortable place to be, full of racists supporting each other with their offensive opinions.

diddl · 12/10/2020 08:07

It sounds as though it wasn't happening on all threads?

So much like here, if you aren't on a thread when a spat happens, or don't frequent particular threads on here, you might not be aware of how nasty a place this can be?

LastGoldenDaysOfSummer · 12/10/2020 08:34

I was invited under a different user name long gone. I joined but never posted. I'd forgotten it existed until this thread. There have been a few spin offs in my time on the boards.

Iknowthingsthatwillhappen · 12/10/2020 08:42

I have to say that most social media seems to have gone this way, if you look at the language and tone of Mumsnet when it started, it is completely different. People don't care anymore (and the language is just awful). I scroll past lots now but still enjoy some quieter threads on here. Seriously wonder if this site will be here much longer.

A lot of that is to do with size. I don't think MN is any worse than society as a whole, it's just that often you wouldn't see it depending on what kind of people you mix with. Also, when it's "written" down, it is more obvious.

The thing from my mates view was that the mean girls mentioned here and the weird guy started on here first, looking on it now I think to test the water and see if the admin would admonish them. The whole situation there baffled me, and clearly others too. Then when the admin chose to remove her instead of the bullies, they realised they could go complete out of order and start up with the bigotry. To the pp who asked did the admin respond to email, no she did not in friends experience. I also emailed as I wanted to say to her that the whole situation was disgusting and my friend was in bits down to it and I didn't get a response either. If anyone had ruined their own forum it's the admin of it. Every site, forum, group on the internet has its trolls of course, but it's ultimately the job of the admin to say, no you can't do that, that isn't acceptable. She failed to, and ditched people using it as intended instead.

have to say its lovely to be able to post on mn again. I pretty much stopped as having my posts screen shot and ripped a part(spag especially) was awful.
glad its gone, just hope mn hq don't let the trolls back in here.

Hi Samcro. I think the fact that you felt you couldn't post on MN because of the trolling on the other place should tell people a lot about what kind of place it was. I saw what was happening and read the comments every time you posted. It was absolutely disgusting behaviour.
Leimarel · 12/10/2020 10:06

I'm glad it's gone.

That’s awful you also were trolled. I had no idea. Glad you also feel safe to post here again Samcro.

@derxa, not wanting to derail but was very pleased you are now recovering well💐

The “language” - if you could call it that - is vile. It says something about the posters who communicate like that. 🤢

Oh lord that's disgusting Samcro I hope you're ok now, some folk really are vile!
Roussette · 12/10/2020 10:50

Samcro Flowers

I know what it's like and I'm so glad you feel better about posting now. You can feel free of it now, it was horrible what they posted about you and totally unwarranted. To me, it's like a cloud has been lifted.

I deliberately came off the H&M threads for weeks at a time because I knew how much it incensed them that I posted anything.
But that didn't work.. they followed me on to other threads. And then took to copy and pasting posts of mine from literally months ago.

I too hope MN keep the worst of the trolls off here.

"It started off well but it quickly became a very uncomfortable place to be, full of racists supporting each other with their offensive opinions."

Think I must have left before all of this😯. I thought it was just going to be a nicer version of Mumsnet.

BaldricksCoffee · 12/10/2020 13:52

There's so much misinformation on here it's laughable.

Samcro · 12/10/2020 13:54

or maybe at last people have some where they can actually post what happened.

Janegrey333 · 12/10/2020 13:57

I think it’s a fair summation of many parts of the former Mumschat. It pretended to be so welcoming and “nice” but in reality it soon became abused by people in cliques swearing and allowing racism to take hold.

OP posts:
Janegrey333 · 12/10/2020 14:03

It purported to be an inclusive, welcoming and “nice” site but was soon used by people who thought they could do as they liked. There appears to have been one particular clique that had an unhelpful agenda: anti mask and anti vax. They imagined that was free speech but in fact they were peddling right wing views.

OP posts:
Janegrey333 · 12/10/2020 14:05

Thought the first of those posts had disappeared hence the parroting!

It could have been if only a minority of idiots hadn't been allowed to dominate it and make it so toxic. Some threads seemed welcoming but the thread dedicated to personally attacking Justinecand other MN staff and viciously attacking any Mumsnetter who didn't agree with them was horrendous.
