Seems to have shut up shop as from this morning.

@NiceTwin

There were maybe 1600 users on MC, not all of them will have been racist. I was over there but the Justine thread made me look at it in a different light. There were some hardcore users who just couldn't seem to stay away from MN and continued to poke it at every opportunity. The same users were also one of the first on MC and seemed to think they were the top bitches. More than once I have seen them tell other users how they should behave etc.

That said, there were some lovely people over there and there wasn't the level of dread when posting a thread that you get over here.

The same users were also one of the first on MC and seemed to think they were the top bitches. More than once I have seen them tell other users how they should behave etc.

Yes. One individual has given herself the role of head prefect.

@Quaagars

I actually want to see the racist post on the Justine thread, I wasn’t on that one and see how it went down)

Why would you want to see that?
Isn't the fact that it sounds like it stayed for people to comment on bad enough?
I know people complain at MN for moderating, but I'd far rather have that than uncensored, blatant racism.

Definitely. Leaving it as a free for all was a very unwise move by the founder.

I was on there. It was friendly.
It wasn’t racist. People just got hacked of that every time on here they gave an opinion on MM that wasn’t favourable they were branded racist. So they took the discussion elsewhere. It people had taken the time to read the threads there properly they would have seen that.
I find the abuse and hysteria on here quite distasteful at times.

Janegrey333 · 11/10/2020 19:09

Yes. One individual has given herself the role of head prefect.

That should be had since she’ll be scratching around now looking for a new role.

If it wasnt for ableism (Mumsnets safe prejudice which has been allowed to run rampant on the Covid boards here) and my angry response to it and subsequent weeks suspension i wouldnt have gone looking there in the first place.

There is racism on Mumsnet I didnt post on the BLM threads on here because i didnt feel qualified to comment. So i did the same over here as i did there,, Just didnt open them to start with. I cant find ANY PMs on here asking me why im ignoring it when its on here. So why is that? I just behaved in the same way there as i did here. I posted something on the Justine thread but only read one page and that was weeks ago. That thread is long and i have something called a RL life?! And i cant help noticing that people feel they dont have to justify why they are posting on a site that has allowed ableism to run rampant on the Covid boards for months and months.

Teaming with ableism

Quietlyloud · 11/10/2020 19:11

pigeonsfeather When I said I won’t stop posting there I was on about reddit. Like it’s full of so much crap but I stick to the areas I like and won’t abandon it because some of the site is disgusting.

awstree · 11/10/2020 19:11

You seem to know an awful lot about the site and it's posters.

Quietlyloud · 11/10/2020 19:13

Quaagars Curiosity basically. Why is that so difficult to understand? You should see the morbid subs I’m subscribed too.. maybe that explains in part why I want to see the racist post I keep seeing being spoken about all over this thread.

SimonJT · 11/10/2020 19:17

How is comparing black MNers to the minstrels not racist?

Or what about Penguin who “couldn’t find the ‘special black people’ corner”.

How about Millie who enjoyed constantly posting the trope of black women for being aggressive purely for sticking up for themselves and then posted a very racist video from twitter.

What about Archewell who suggested that a MNer is a plant by MNHQ purely because the poster is black. Archewell who also thinks black womens brains are limited to curried goat, rice and peas and hairstyles.

What about MonkeyToesOfDoom making jokes about the KKK.

What about BuzzCat who wants black people to go back to Subsaharan Africa.

What about Zombie Fan Girl complaining that white children can’t call black children the N word.

MankyMoo taking the piss out of traditional african hairstyles.

DaisyChain comparing a black poster to a monkey.

The above are all from a 20 minute look on the Justine thread.

Roussette · 11/10/2020 19:17

If people had taken the time to read the threads there properly they would have seen that
I did. The H&M long running thread that is.
There were some truly revolting posts just recently. Unrepeatable.

SimonJT · 11/10/2020 19:17

The above is to @Shooglywheel

HeIenaDove · 11/10/2020 19:18

I didnt see ANY of that

HeIenaDove · 11/10/2020 19:21

@Roussette i didnt open it. Royals dont interest me at all.

Frdd · 11/10/2020 19:21

Or realitychick who started a thread about things you shouldn’t laugh at and included still finding The black and white minstrels funny in the very first post?

Roussette · 11/10/2020 19:21

But I'm sure you don't doubt it HelenaDove?

I didn't see the minstrels post, I heard about it but I did see a lot of what SimonJT is posting

Roussette · 11/10/2020 19:22

I get that Helena
Smile

SimonJT · 11/10/2020 19:22

I do have screenshots, but MN would most likely ban me for posting them.

TabithaTadpole · 11/10/2020 19:23

I didn’t see any of that either @HelenaDove.

Frdd · 11/10/2020 19:23

I didn’t get screenshots because I didn’t think the site was going to disappear. I’ve just gone back in my history but of course the site is down.

awstree · 11/10/2020 19:24

SimonJT - you seem very well acquainted with the posters on Mumschat and what they have been posting. Other posters on this thread have been accusing the Mumschat posters of stalking them but you seem to be keeping the Mumsnet end up by doing a fair bit of stalking yourself.

Shooglywheel · 11/10/2020 19:25

Well I clearly have missed all that.

HeIenaDove · 11/10/2020 19:26

Its the same reason i dont open Trump threads. Cant stand the misogynist racist weasel but i also dont completely know how the American parties and system works so dont feel qualified to comment.

I tend to stick to posting about what i know.

Quaagars · 11/10/2020 19:26

I was on there. It was friendly
It wasn’t racist

Oh well then, if you didn't personally see any racist stuff then, it can't have been there. Hmm
Despite numerous examples and posters telling you their experience.
Nope, didn't happen as I didn't see it.
Ookay then.
What, they're all lying?

People just got hacked of that every time on here they gave an opinion on MM that wasn’t favourable they were branded racist.

I think this comment says a lot.
I've seen some of the H and M threads on here, and they were bad enough.
If you wanted to go elsewhere to speak freely you do you but it speaks volumes.

pigeonsfeather · 11/10/2020 19:26

You didn’t see it, because you didn’t want to see it.

The posts I and others are referring to literally were on the two busiest threads on the whole site.

I’m sure you did avoid them. I am sure you didn’t actively post on them. But you did that for a reason. You knew something was amiss. Helena, you were told explicitly what was going on there and you turned your head and you refused to see it. Because you did not want to.

I do not think either of you are racist. But I think you deliberately shunned what was in front of you because you liked the rest. And that’s not unconnected from racism.

picklemewalnuts · 11/10/2020 19:27

The only doubt I have about the integrity of what people are saying here, is that I was there (though not on either of those two threads) and saw nothing like that.
I am here, and see someone jumping on Anne for using the saying 'pot calling the kettle' phrase, as though that is racist. A lot of hate is in the eye of the beholder. I don't go looking for it and I don't see it.
