Seems to have shut up shop as from this morning.

I've posted two clips up thread for those who haven't bothered to read the thread (but keen to claim it's all makey up). There was a shed load of stuff which a lot of regulars on here have said they have seen but we aren't inclined to post pictures of minstrels or abusive comments about Rousette and other Mumsnetters.

Quaagars · 11/10/2020 17:59

but we aren't inclined to post pictures of minstrels or abusive comments about Rousette and other Mumsnetters

No way post them (not that you would) of course people don't want too see that.
As you say, people have already posted slightly milder comments if people can be bothered to go and have a look.
Something tells me it still won't be enough "evidence" though.
It never is.

EchoCardioGran · 11/10/2020 18:01

@SunbathingDragon

It seems very unusual for a forum to just completely go under with no notice. I would have thought it’s much more likely it’s a cyber attack.
I saw the Admin/Owner earlier posted a "I've had enough" statement. Then the site came back on again. Now it's gone again. A bit like me trying to download Britbox last week. Disaster.

Anyway, I might start watching Corrie again Rousette.... seems like a good bunch over there. Wink

Roussette · 11/10/2020 18:03

diddl
Yes, but if you instal different browsers, or use a VPN which changes your ISP address, there are ways round it. I am no techy person but I know if you're determined you can come back if banned again and again. Someone did 20 times or was it 10, can't remember, and boasted about it like it was some sort of ASBO.

This sort of thing can be detected but it takes a lot of manpower.

sunbathing
No, because the Admin posted that they were closing it down. I think someone copy and pasted what they said upthread.

EchoCardioGran · 11/10/2020 18:04

Agree Quaagers
I call it Ostrich syndrome.
Some people like to stick their heads in a hole in the ground. and not see anything even when it is there in front of them. Grin

Roussette · 11/10/2020 18:05

EchoCardioGran

You must! They are fun people on that thread and we marvel at how a Corrie child can go upstairs to do their homework and not come down for two years!

diddl · 11/10/2020 18:10

"Yes, but if you instal different browsers, or use a VPN which changes your ISP address, there are ways round it."

Well yes, otherwise they wouldn't be able to do it!

I suppose I don't get it why someone would want to be somewhere where the rules/guidelines don't suit.

Or why people make up shit to post.

I suppose I've always been wary in not posting too much about myself or getting to invested.

Roussette · 11/10/2020 18:16

Sorry diddl didn't mean to sound like a knowledge box, but I was a mod on a site once and this sort of thing happened.

I think although the rules/guidelines didn't suit there were a core of ex MNers who were really really aggrieved at a couple of things that I won't go into as it's not fair on MN.
So even though they didn't like MN anymore they wanted to keep popping back to create trouble, to troll, to link to their new site, the spamming was endless, even going as far as writing it in Morse code on one thread as the name was blocked.
Like none of us would get what they were doing 😂
I asked if they were rehearsing for the play 'Titanic' as the radio operator lol

HeIenaDove · 11/10/2020 18:16

Not everyone on that site. I'm sure there's some pretty decent people on there who just avoid the nasty stuff

I joined it last month after MN banned me for a week for calling someone on this site an ableist a disgusting individual. The mask exemption hatred on here was getting out of hand. I remembered someone mentioning the site a long time ago so looked for it and joined. I mainly posted on two threads over there. The face masks one and their long running Coronavirus thread

It was the ableism on here , my angry response to it and subsequent weeks ban which led me to cast my net for another site. The face mask thread on there didnt have any ableism on it.

I avoided the Harry and Meghan threads on there as i do the ones on here. Royals dont interest me.

Hahaha. Some sort of ASBO!

WTF Grin
That sounds like what kids used to do when they were smaller, haha look at meeee you don't know my secret code Grin
Jeez, these are adults?!
I laugh but that's actually pretty sad!

So even though they didn't like MN anymore they wanted to keep popping back to create trouble, to troll, to link to their new site

I definitely saw that in action, the spamming of all the boards with links was totally OTT.

EchoCardioGran · 11/10/2020 18:37

Morse code was it? Confused
Bum!
There was me heating up my laptop over a candle as I thought it was written in lemon juice.
No wonder, I never got in the Girl Guides...

NiceTwin · 11/10/2020 18:41

There were maybe 1600 users on MC, not all of them will have been racist.
I was over there but the Justine thread made me look at it in a different light.
There were some hardcore users who just couldn't seem to stay away from MN and continued to poke it at every opportunity.
The same users were also one of the first on MC and seemed to think they were the top bitches.
More than once I have seen them tell other users how they should behave etc.

That said, there were some lovely people over there and there wasn't the level of dread when posting a thread that you get over here.

pigeonsfeather · 11/10/2020 18:44

No one is saying everyone there is racist. But I must admit I can’t understand why people would choose to post somewhere that is, if they themselves are not. Because personally I wouldn’t want to be associated with that.

Quietlyloud · 11/10/2020 18:45

I think it might be gone again. No amount of attempts (I actually want to see the racist post on the Justine thread, I wasn’t on that one and see how it went down) to open the site is working, like it won’t load at all, nothing.

Quietlyloud · 11/10/2020 18:47

pigeonsfeather This site is also classed as racist amongst other things, I don’t think it is and any racists posts are usually removed fairly quickly. Reddit can be called misogynistic and racist too, I won’t stop posting there because a few like to ruin it for others though.

pigeonsfeather · 11/10/2020 18:50

Sorry, you won’t stop posting on MC? Or here?

Because I wouldn’t post somewhere that posted photographs of minstrels and people found it funny.

Roussette · 11/10/2020 18:50

I think you've nailed it there NiceTwin especially the poking at MN the whole time. It was all the time. Certain posters were obsessed with this place even though they hated it.

But I agree with pigeon ... just knowing there were these awful posts on a relatively small not busy forum would make me very uncomfortable to be there at all

Quaagars · 11/10/2020 18:52

No one is saying everyone there is racist
Exactly

But I must admit I can’t understand why people would choose to post somewhere that is, if they themselves are not. Because personally I wouldn’t want to be associated with that

and same

HeIenaDove · 11/10/2020 18:53

I didnt see that Minstrels thing. I was posting on the Covid threads.

pigeonsfeather · 11/10/2020 18:55

But enough people had told you that it was teaming with racism helena. So I must admit I was surprised to see you over there.

Chicchicchicchiclana · 11/10/2020 18:59

Well all this drama has given another spin-off site that hates Mumsnet plenty to talk about today.

SoupDragon · 11/10/2020 19:00

especially the poking at MN the whole time

I never understood that.

pigeonsfeather · 11/10/2020 19:00

Good thing you’d never post on a spin off site, hey chic Smile

Quaagars · 11/10/2020 19:00

I actually want to see the racist post on the Justine thread, I wasn’t on that one and see how it went down)

Why would you want to see that?
Isn't the fact that it sounds like it stayed for people to comment on bad enough?
I know people complain at MN for moderating, but I'd far rather have that than uncensored, blatant racism.
