Seems to have shut up shop as from this morning.

OP posts:
Roussette · 11/10/2020 17:21

Any time this site was mentioned the comment or post would be deleted yet it’s okay all of a sudden?
Probably because the site has gone.
And is it any wonder a few of us who have been trolled and maligned repeatedly want to have a bit of a whinge because we've had a stiff upper lip for a long time....

Dairyfine · 11/10/2020 17:22

Pots and kettles was always about the black carbon deposits on cooking implements when used over fires.

Marg33t · 11/10/2020 17:22

This thread is actually pretty funny.

Mumsnet users trying to paint mumschat as some racist place, when it was nothing of the sort but one single post made a joke that people called her out on. Then people here saying lies that it was impossible to delete your mumschat account, it was pretty easy - far easier than Mumsnet.

People on mumschat not admitting there were a few very active posters that were pretty unpleasant. They stopped me posting there and there did seem to be an in crowd that would group together. Although Mumsnet can be the same, it's much busier so not as big issue.

And then Mumsnet employees who are delighting on keeping this thread here 😂

All around no one looks good in this !

AnneKipanki · 11/10/2020 17:22

Not YOU as an individual. I meant YOU as a group of posters .

Marg33t · 11/10/2020 17:23

Oh god what did I say 😂

Not going to type that again but no one comes out of this looking good

EchoCardioGran · 11/10/2020 17:23

Back later, Sunday roast calls.
Note. not goat curry.Wink

@Quietlyloud

Huh, seems we can talk about the “other” site when it’s to bitch about it? And this is why mumsnet gets the flack it does. Nothing is clear guidelines wise. Any time this site was mentioned the comment or post would be deleted yet it’s okay all of a sudden? I’m baffled. For what it’s worth I use both sites, I use MC a lot less though, I don’t doubt there was racism just that I personally didn’t see it because I stuck to one or two threads basically. One thing I like about the other site is how a conversation could flow and you could disagree without everything being deleted or having a thread full of holes.
Exactly! I just posted above but made the mistake of mentioning MC’s full name - post hidden. I didn’t post anything controversial, just saying the world is big enough for MN and MC.

I also didn’t see the racism, I think it’s just that it wasn’t as woke as MN.

Quaagars · 11/10/2020 17:27

You've never been able to link to it.
Must be to do with the utter spamming of links on here when first set up, MN probably got an auto blocker now lol

SusannaSpider · 11/10/2020 17:28

I was on there briefly and people seemed nice, especially when some of the nastiness on Mumsnet seemed to be getting out of hand. But ultimately I preferred Mumsnet for the variety. Strangely, coming back to Mumsnet I noticed more people are pulling up the really spiteful posters now, rather than piling on.

Quaagars · 11/10/2020 17:28

Woke Grin
Fuxache
Think that says it all, really.

AnneKipanki · 11/10/2020 17:30

@EchoCardioGran , life gets in the way sometimes.

Again , I was NOT singling you out . I meant YOU as in a group of posters .

ChasedByFox · 11/10/2020 17:31

@froggygoneacourting

That's the forum that allowed (even encouraged) overt racism and racist bullying and spied on Mumsnet threads in order to bash and mock Mumsnetters. Posters there talked about how Mumsnet was being "taken over by blacks", discussed the best tactics to get black posters banned and deleted, bragged about making malicious false reports on Mumsnet in order to "fool those gullible wokesters in MNHQ", and one of them even photoshopped a fake DM conversation in order to try to con MNHQ into believing that the poster who lobbied for MN to have a Black section was a previously banned poster.

I'm sure there were plenty of sections and threads that contained nice, normal chat and supportive conversations, and plenty of posters who never went into the racist threads. But how anyone can be a member of a site that openly espouses white supremacist views is beyond me.

I'm cackling gleefully that it's closed. Good riddance to bad rubbish.

For real? That is utterly vile behaviour. Though where will they go now, if it's closed. We don't want people like that back on MN.
Hobnobswantshernameback · 11/10/2020 17:31

Ah right
So not being a racist cunt is being too woke
Nuff said
Hmm

Rhine · 11/10/2020 17:33

Seeing as we are naming names now, the racist poster I’m referring to was called ‘Boudicca’. Horrible, racist cow. Another called Elvira isn’t much better.

ChasedByFox · 11/10/2020 17:34

@EchoCardioGran. your username is fab! Grin

SusannaSpider · 11/10/2020 17:34

Wow, I must have missed the racist stuff though. That's vile 😥

Roussette · 11/10/2020 17:37

@pigeonsfeather
Not going anywhere, not while Corrie is in such dire straits! The writers need our input on that thread!

TabithaTadpole · 11/10/2020 17:37

@SusannaSpider

Me too! Has anyone got any proof, like screenshots I wonder? Or else anyone could make up shit.
EchoCardioGran · 11/10/2020 17:45

[quote AnneKipanki]@EchoCardioGran , life gets in the way sometimes.

I am not a group of posters. I'm just me. No secret messages, no conspiracies, no colluding, not a paid shill, just my view.

I'll just wait for some more posters to come along, and tell me that they didn't see any racism on the other site. Spuds should be ready by then.

It's quite possible of course, if just posting on the nice threads one did not see any racism, but please don't say it didn't exist, pages and pages of it on one particular thread. A lot of us here saw it. Seeing racism and calling it out does not make me "the same," or " as bad", as the minstrel poster appreciation society over there.

Roussette · 11/10/2020 17:45

Though where will they go now, if it's closed
We don't want people like that back on MN

Indeed.
There are very fair moderate posters from there who obviously straddled both sites, and life won't change much for them, they'll just keep posting here as always.

And there are those who dislike MN but still have kept a presence on here, they'll just have to embrace here again won't they?

And then there's the PBPs who have no right to be here because of the trouble they've caused being banned repeatedly and returning repeatedly, just to troll. They're the ones that MN will hopefully be identifying.

Quaagars · 11/10/2020 17:46

Has anyone got any proof, like screenshots I wonder? Or else anyone could make up shit

Somebody's already posted some comments upthread.
Assuming you're not doing that thing people usually do and pretending can't see them.

AufderAutobahn · 11/10/2020 17:48

@SimonJT I saw that faked Reddit PM, claiming that PatricksRum was the same person as a PBP if I recall? A sick tactic to discredit PR, give that mumstwats further meat to slaver over and possibly trying to get her banned from MN??? If that indeed was the aim ... what the fuck???

I remember that Minstrel poster, tbf a couple of posters did post along the lines of "no mate, no", but I do remember it also got several laughing emojis and likes. If MC's downfall is due to complaints about the racism, he and Archewell must be aware they contributed at least a little bit to its demise?

Its downfall is sad in some ways as it was clearly supporting some posters who were going through hard times. I do hope they find good alternatives very soon.

diddl · 11/10/2020 17:51

"And then there's the PBPs who have no right to be here because of the trouble they've caused being banned repeatedly and returning repeatedly, just to troll. They're the ones that MN will hopefully be identifying."

Well that's the problem, isn't it-the ease with which banned posters can return?

SunbathingDragon · 11/10/2020 17:52

It seems very unusual for a forum to just completely go under with no notice. I would have thought it’s much more likely it’s a cyber attack.

AnneKipanki · 11/10/2020 17:52

@EchoCardioGran

How am I "behaving"? AnneKipanki I'm calling out a small group of racists attempting to groom others on a different forum. You joined in making remarks about pots and kettles...( finish the meme in your head).and then announced you were hiding the thread. But keep peeking back to tell me about how I am " behaving".
For the last time . It is not your individual behaviour I meant. I do know that you exist as a single unique human being. I was not “peeking “ . Life meant I had to go out in a hurry and I did not have time to hide the thread. I sincerely apologise if I have offended any one .
